ABOUT GÉRALDINE
Hi! I’m Géraldine Lepère, the founder of Comme une Française (= “Like a French woman”) and your new French best friend. :)
Each Tuesday, I share a fun, fresh and bite-sized lesson on French language and French culture-from embarrassing mistakes to avoid to pop-cultural references to “get” !
For over five years now, with millions of views and students in over 56 countries, I’ve been helping people just like you gain the confidence to really talk in French. And better than the “textbook” French from high school!
Je partage vos vidéos avec mes amis américains et
d'autres pays pour leur donner envie d'apprendre notre langue.
avec une bonne enseignante.
Merci.
I share your videos with my American friends and
other countries to make them want to learn our language.
with a good teacher.
Thank you.
You'll never need another French teacher...merci beaucoup Geraldine!!
Bonjour! Will you please do some videos entirely in French? Je crois que tu as l'accent que je voudrais apprendre. Merci!
That was very helpful. Thanks!
I’m so glad I found this blog!
Merci pour ce cours ,il est excellent
Toujours un plaisir Géraldine!!
It is always so delightful to see your smile.
merci beaucoup pour une autre lecon magnifique. Wow. I already knew the numbers , they are one of the foundations of learning any new language. But to have them explained and exampled like you have done here Geraldine is very helpful and fresh. The main thing i learnt watching this video was how to contract Quatre to just Quat. And also using Nine, neuf, and changing the ending to a V when used with a word starting with a H. So useful to know these things.
merci beaucoup .
J'ADORE
Merci beaucoup pour le leçon! A bientôt =)
Tout! Il y a plus de 40 ans, on n'a jamais appris le français comme ça à l'école. Je suis si heureux de l'opportunité de devenir «moderne». Merci Géraldine.
Bonjour et merci
Merci pour le leson francaise..
Been confused a couple of times between being told cette semaine, hearing sept semaine and vici versa...merci Geraldine!
@Ashton Edison same IP adress how?
Merci for explaining the "six" and "huit" and "nuef" pronunciation of dropping the last letter when followed by a consonant. While in Paris, I would always get confused if they said those numbers (plus Parisians speak very fast). I thought they were using a word that I didn't recognize. It never occurred to me it was a spoken French pronunciation rule.
Another super video. Thank you. Regarding 'pas cher' - I have also heard 'bon marché'
Is it permissible to use that as well, or is it old-fashioned?
I've just started learning French and the 'deeper' I go, the more similarities I find to Polish language, especially when it comes to expressions.
I though "La une" meant "At 1 pm". 😆 And I was like, "maybe they break the news usually at 1pm. Weird!" 😂
It's because "page" is feminine, so the front of the newspaper is "La page une" => "La une."
Je trouve cela absolument pertinent - c'est le besoin de l'heure surtout quand on apprend la langue dans un pays non francophone
Ce sont bien sûr tellement bien utiles, ces infos, *Géraldine;* comme toutes tes vidéos, en fait ({: D ...!
The link does not allow me to open it on iPad. Would love to get the PDFs.
Pouvez-vous faire une vidéo sur les idiomes les plus utilisés au quotidien
Pramoda Chilakamarthi SVP ??
I am not able to open the links. Les lessons m’aident beaucoups.
J’ai appris de la prononciation de les numéros et de ses liaisons avec des voyelles ou des consonants.
Also, listen to different native French speakers for a variation on accents.
I think because here it’s not describing how many, but used as a noun.
"there's nothing special to QUATRE pronunciation..." ------- Me in fetal position under the shower after trying to morph my whole throat to say it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Géraldine will probably not be pleased with me, but rather than stressing over the inability to roll your R's, just say "Cat". The context should ensure you are understood, and you will appear more fluent (and fluid) than if you are struggling.
@@PeBoVision 😮 I feel something clicking in my brain already! Thanks mate!
Why do you pronounce the “x” in “dix de retrouver” when “de” starts with a consonant?
Is the pronunciation of deux and d'eux the same? Does it differ from de? It's interesting if there's no french expression involving nine, an English one is that a cat has nine lives. Thanks for the video. I have trouble with distinguishing between blond and blanc, on and en, donc tondre et tendre. Hope you'll do a video about those vowel sounds!
Yes, "de", "deux" and "d'eux" sound the same.
Oui - et “ being on cloud 9 “
Salut
Is there a difference between "pas cher" and "bon marché"?
One's literally inexpensive the other is a bargain or a deal.
Is "pas cher" based on how it is pronounced?
I translated that as, 'Il y a beaucoup des poissons dans la mer.' I have a feeling it wont translate very well.
I seem to recall something about "nine eggs" .....
5:30 my favorite is it's cute & quirky, and a little retro & superstitious, especially when kissing 😘 & eating treats 🍭
Pont Neuf, ce n'est pas un expression, et okay, pas le numero 9... mais c'est trés connu et il y a un neuf la bas en tout cas :D . At least I did think it was the bridge number nine until my French teacher told it actually means 'the new bridge' and it is the oldest bridge in Paris right now.
Bonjour Geraldine pourquoi pas quoi de neuf ?? merci :)
dans "quoi de neuf" , neuf signifie nouveau et non le chiffre 9...
I put one up bro 😎.. it’s about cats 🐱
Une vidéo qui casse facilement trois pattes à un canard :-)

Un ours in American,is a body part. Fyi 🤗
Yes, "pas cher" translates the English word "cheap" but don't you also use "bon marché"?

Any Harbor scholars?
"Un perdu, dix retrouvè"
Qatre
This lesson was difficult.
‘Six’ is not the same as ‘sister’ because ‘sister’ has a short ‘i’ :)
bonne march'e est pas chère, non?
So that song from the greatest showman... If you pronounce it in a French accent, it'll translate to 9oclock, an egg... Think about it😅 lol
El francés no tiene ninguna palabra que quier decir "barato".
Pas cher, bas de gamme.
@@aveuch Yes, that's more than one word.
Une perdue, dix de retrouvee.
Quoi de neufs ?
I think you need to learn how to pronouce 'focus' in order not to embarrass others! It's pronounced 'fowcus' by the way.
I would have thought" Menage a trois" would be a better way to explain "3" in a french context!
