GOOD!
Los amo, su música me ayuda a sobrellevar esta cuarentena 💖
And every album so far has been a masterpiece, and I LOVE that you also offer albums as all-instrumentals. And a new one coming up so soon after the previous one, my God!!! Keep up the brilliant work!
@@NoeliaFernandez lo mismo.
Why are bands like this so underated? It's probably one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard. It's not fair. Thanks to all the great musicians who assembled this masterpiece with hard work, art, talent and soul
Honestly, the best recorded live performance of HAKEN. blooooody hell!
Agreed!
To be fair this is one of the few performances where Ross doesn't sound like a bag of shit
Exactly my thoughts... ross nailed it. Hopefully we will get something with similar sound and performance quality in the future!!!
The vocalists range is incredible. He's perfect for this band. I can't imagine anybody with a better voice for progressive.
VejyMonsta for some reason, a lot of prog singers have curly hair
VejyMonsta Russel Allen maybe?
+zxwart Russel is my favorite vocalist EVER!
+VejyMonsta He is fukkin' incredible.
+VejyMonsta My two favorite voices of all time are Devin Townsend and Daniel Gildenlow. This guy is great though! :)
Very proud I went to school with Richard & Ross.
Serious boys - everything you produce is gold.
Can't stop listening to The Mountain
You're the best thing to happen to the prog scene since DT's Scenes From A Memory.
Easily my favourite band at the moment - right up there with some of my other fav's like Sun Caged.
Can't wait for your next album.
Long live Haken!!!
\m/
Martin Tyrrell 😱😱😱 you went to school with Ross and Rich, that’s awesome, and I agree 100% Haken is Pure gold, they are insane
amen!
I totally agree!!! "Nantucket Sleighride" by Mountain is one of my all-time favorite albums.
Mother of god, this is so close to perfection. The voice, the music, this live performance is a masterpiece. By the way, this song is a masterpiece too.
"She may never return, but I can wait forever"
I couldn't say why, but this part always touches profoundly... It's not like I have ever met a mermaid that could potententially save the world from an eternal flood but, I still relate to that somehow...
Man the vocals are so perfect. Doesnt feel like its the live version at all.
batter than James Labrie
@@TestaBorges you had to be "that" guy?
@@TestaBorges you compared two vocalist in the two different band
but i agree
@Vinicius Borges : "Better" and "best" are merely personal opinions, and never have been nor never will be reality. But to my ears, this is worlds better too. Labire and even the rest of the band don't sound even half as good as this to me. Don't get me wrong, I love Dream Theater, and as a guitarist myself and even influenced by them. But this shit is deep man.
Dream Theater are better technically I could agree, but technicality is nothing compared to the other elements these guys possess, like soul and the mystical and undefinable soundscape this band has attained. As difficult as it is, it's far easier to be technically proficient because it just takes practice and hard work. This though is not something one could teach or gain through practice and hard work alone.
@@aylbdrmadison1051 as long as you're only expressing that as an opinion, because asserting facts in music tends not to work
These guys are definitly the heirs to the prog throne!
And after Affinity and Vector I think it is safe to assume that they sit heavily on that throne now. Can do no wrong!
Agreed
I feel sorry for the millions of people out there who haven't heard this...
Nothing gives me more joy than seeing such grown men enjoy themselves. A rare sight indeed.
This is the most underrated song in human history. They may play around and have fun, but god this song has an unmatched mood to it.
My 1000th time watching this video. Is not enough.
Very talented musicians. The voice really blends perfectly to the music.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the singer's incredible vocal abilities? This is by far one of the most talented singers i have heard so far.
11:00 the best moment Haken has ever written, and one of the best moments in music TBH.
Agree
Notes Reviews I FREAKIN LOVE THAT PART, GIVES ME MAJOR CHILLS, so amazing, Haken is surely legendary
So Dream Theater-esque yet so distinct. Watching the crowd wave makes it so much more beautiful.
Absolute perfection forever and ever.
This stuff is so otherworldly... I found the Mountain quite impressive, but this track... I really fell in love with this band.
twofoursevenlol and i thought i was the only one who felt like this..
Honestly I think that the mountain is their worst album. Which is fucking saying something, because the Mountain is not even mediocre by any stretch of the imagination. These guys have not put out a single dud.
Affinity is their worst by far...Not a bad album but I think they lost a little bit melodic approach of the mountain. My favourite track is this and Pareidolia and favourite album being the Mountain btw.
@@rbnh9827 i think affinity is amazing, nonetheless I love all their albums equally and haken is one of these band whom i don't have a favorite song/album for, because i honestly can't choose since every song they have is amazing. Now i feel they took another path for their affinity album, focusing more on dynamics and complex time signatures rather than musicality, even though they still put 100% of their style and creativity into that album
@@dsaillant811 I cannot pick a worst Haken album, but it wouldn't be the Mountain. Stellar piece of progressive art, that is
Ross is so unbelievably good here. I finally know why he sometimes sounds bad in other videos. It is because for some reason these guys aren't famous enough to get the venues with the good acoustics and monitoring.
this Video is doing that to me now!
Weird, I actually just took a dump while listening to this song.
That was just a coincidence that you were sat on the toilet. It was actually the shit being blown out of your arse :P
@@nibsabbath1825 mustve been the best dump youve ever taken then ;).
Everytime I'm wheter sad or happy, I come here. This performance is my medicine for sadness and my happiness improver. Thanks for existing and making this masterpiece melody, Haken!
I feel the same
Have listened only to Aquarius but I have to say this: Haken is the new Dream Theater... It has all I want in a prog or no-prog band, good musicians, a good voice, good harmonies and melodies and passion... Ross is defenitely one of my favorite singers in prog. Glad to see them someday if they come to Argentina.
Update: they did come to Argentina in 2019 and they kicked ass. Now they are coming back October 2023 and I couldn't be happier.
2nd edit: the October 2023 was unbelivable!! The best show I ever attended. I cant believe that 7 years since this comment and I can now say I saw them play Celestial Elixir!! Life is great
Manuel you should check out native construct as well
dude they are pissing on dream theater in the creativity department, this is coming from someone who has johnpetrucci in his username
As great as The Astonishing is, it's a far more interesting read than it is a listen. And that's where I think Haken has always excelled. Telling a story through the course of an album that is complete while also being a characteristically cathartic listening experience. I can listen to the same Haken song on loop for hours and still get chills.
The hype for Haken V is real.
I'd agree with this comment (which I appreciate is three years old!). The Astonishing was...okay. Distance Over Time was also...okay. I don't think DT have managed to reach the quality of Metropolis II, Images & Words or Octavarium in a long time. Still love the band, but Haken are worthy successors.
Lmao I was thinking for a moment “when did I write a comment on this video?”
I think it's interesting how despite Ross's voice getting better over time (imo), this performance from so long ago has got to be his best, his voice is smooth and clear and just spot on
This has some album-tier sound quality. I ordered the album few days ago and got it yesterday; I didn't know this was a concept album until I read the little lyric book. Truly, truly great music.
Beautiful description!
That section around 2:02 where Charlie, Richard, Deigo and Thomas are playing the same thing is incredible. This band is mind blowing
This kind of music was so much ambitious... I wish a return to this... One day !
It's why Aquarius is my favorite Haken album!
In my opinion, some of the best musicians and songwriters in the world.
Your knowledge of musical theory must be truly out of this world.
How many of you are classically trained???
As a 20 year old, I have listened to Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd, Yes, Dream Theater, Focus, PFM, Focus and Camel extensively, and you somehow manage to capture every single thing I love about this music and have made my musical life complete.
Thank you HAKEN, please continue making the best music in the world.
Peter
This is what a well rehearsed band sounds like. I haven't been blow away by a live performance in quite sometime by any band I listen to, but these guys have done it for me. Well done Haken, good to see progressive music alive and well in the modern day.
I totally dig patema, you guys are gonna be the future of prog 🤘
This Diego Tejeida guy is so good... you can feel consistency and security in his playing. He is flawless. Probably the best instrumentist in the band.
Also, Ross did great in this show. I've seen some other live performances in which he was a bit sloppy, but he nailed the vocals in this one.
You should have seen their second show during Progressive Nation at Sea. His workstation plumitted to the ground druing a song. I feld sooo bad for the guy. That same show, charlie's string broke, Rays cymbal stand fell over and Ross had a terrible feedback. Richard seemed to be the only guy without bad luck. Poor guys.
Anyway, I have also heard recordings of shows where I was and I noticed that sometimes recordings might capture some dissonant singing while the real performance was spot on. I don't know what causes this. Every three times I saw these guys live they were as good as here.
Robert Fennis That could be the case. And I hope it is :)
To this day, still the best recorded live Haken song. Prefer this over the entire L1VE album
Haken is the best band of our generation and possibly the best of our time.
Haken you beautiful bastards you've done it, in terms of just nailing the sound and really understanding how to write material in this vein, you're to this era of prog metal what Dream Theater was to the '90s/early 2000s. You are some of the real standard-bearers for the genre today. Incredible work for years, I love your growing exposure because I hear more Haken and the stuff is magic. Well done, lads, well DONE! Keep it up, Virus was amazing!! I can't wait to see what else you have in store for us, it's a delight to be a fan.
Quite possibly the most beautiful rock composition of the millennium. This song is like taking mushrooms for the first time, a legitimate spiritual experience. I had genuine tears of joy the first time I heard this song.
Wanna know what's wrong with the world? This was released 10 years ago and only 5,000 have witnessed the incredible beauty they created. It's criminal, like hiding all the Rembrants and VanGoghs in a basement.
I strongly agree!
Anyone who complains about Ross' live vocals, just show them this video. I'd argue that this performance makes it obvious that he deserves to be famous.
This is surely one of the best performances, but if you check out some other concerts some times he's not so in tune.
I saw Haken in Oslo this year, and all I can add is that Ross was fantastic, just like the rest of the band. One of the best live performances I have seen. The only other performance that comes close was Dream Theater on the Awake-tour...back when they were REALLY good.
Rarely will you see such musical craftsmanship on stage live, you lucky lucky people out there in the crowd. Must of been pure magic.
The best British band of last years!
Such an emotional song.
Just amazing song. Have to say though that this is the best song of Haken has done yet. The chorus is so touching and the song is very nicely balanced with emotion, feeling and proggressive moments.
I remember when I discovered haken at some point in 2012. That "Finally! Some GOOD music and interesting compositions!" feeling that I couldn't find listening to any other prog band.Aquarius, visions and the mountain, masterpieces.
Que banda, que musica senhores! o.O
conheci recentemente. nos últimos 5 anos eu nunca tinha escutado algo que me fosse tão diferente e tão incrível como essa banda, e em especial, esta música.
Damn, I want to see this band so bad.
no shit, i wish they'd come to los angeles
Or, you know, America in general.
DiscGolfer947 Wasn't this in Atlanta?
8 some odd years later, this is still my favorite thing to come out of all Progressive music, this video right here. Before COVID I'd listen to this video on the day to work every single day, and it'd put me in such a good mood and started my day right. Love this video and you guys 💙
that was beautiful, i got chills when they started doing the wave. at around 10:30. Such an epic band, epic sound. Some call it cheesy, i say its fucking epic. In leagues with giant orchestras or movie themes.
Muted the vid and played the actual song, these guys are as tight as btbam. Pretty much matches 99% of the time.
They probably use click tracks like BtBAM does as well, I'm sure. This stuff would be crazy without one.
so true dude so true, prog is definitely not for the faint of heart especially with the length of these songs.
I almost never listen to just sings anymore. These albums deserve to be listened to in full.
Tight, or by-the-books?
my life will never be complete before i see this band live
First time i really was listening to this song, on my way to work in the bus....
I usually try to work, but with this song on my headphones, all i could do was put my head back and just mellow out. No work could be done, but i didnt care. This song is just so damn good. I really love these guys. Best band in a while since i started with DT and Sx. Now it is only this band that runs in my MP4 player.
Haken - the only metal band that makes u headbang and dance at the same time
Whenever I listen to this song I need to make sure I'm not preoccupied - because if I'm busy...I'm fucked
finally found prog band I like
I always come back to this performance. I love the direction they've taken with the last two albums, but there's kind of a nerdy, geeky, bombastic, over the top innocence to their sound and performance here. I love it.
New Haken, usually, but old Haken when I'm feeling silly.😋
His voice is really nice
the complexity of the riffs blends well with all the elements of musics that they combined in this song...the circus part...and the verse part...and especially the chorus part brought tears to my eyes...its beyond epic...they seem very honest with what they are doing and i can tell that they are very down to earth type people...i been listening to death metal, brutal death metal, grindcore, post rock u name it and now i slowly shifted to progressive...besides opeth...this band is my fav band im glad to say that this will be my new addiction...
Possibly the greatest live snare I've ever heard...
so true hahahaha
drums in general
I have to say Anesthetize by Porcupine Tree live beats it, but not by much
Np , the gavin harisson s in porcupine tree is the best !
one of the best songs I've ever heard
happy new year!!
A real pleasure to hear a singer that can actually sings and doesn't sound like one of the many clones out there. These guys are good musicians, great songwriters...a great moment of music.
I think this is my favorite video on youtube, I can't count how many times I've watched this live, it's gorgeous.
Excelent Band ¡¡
"She may never return, but I can wait forever.
If we can't make amends,
I'll chase your rainbow till the end...".. GREAT ¡¡
Please come to south America
Such amazing musicianship and a great great voice.
I would pay a lot to see this live :o
katana_92 Believe it or not , for their first concert , I paid 21 bucks . Which is very cheap where I come from . Example , 200 for Depeche M
So fucking amazing.
Why on Earth would any bass player want to LEAVE this band???
He want to focus on his own projects !
Find "To-Mera", great band and he plays Lead Guitar :), I wish he had time for BOTH though. 2 different styles, both require HIGH skilled playing and composing.
I believe he still writes for them !!
@@petegrusky2715 source?
@@Dinozzo1995 I think, have heard about it, on one of the interviews with Rich Henshall (met the guy actually); they both collaborate in other couple of bands - one of them, Nova Collection.
Magnifique !! Un son juste parfait !
I just heard of this band tonight from a guildie in an MMO I play (Vindictus) and this may just be my favorite band now along with Stimpy Lockjaw (if you haven't heard them, give it a listen). I've been looking for music like this for decades now and super surprised I never heard of them until now. They have all the elements I felt that modern prog has been missing since Rush and Yes entered the commercialism of the 80's and I lost interest in prog and became a thrash metal/neo classical guitarist for a long time.
Sure, I love bands like Dream Theater etc too, but imo even they never came close to this as far as feeling, emoting, soul, mysticism, and a unique sound that no one else could ever duplicate. Perhaps Dream Theater could be said to be even more technically proficient, but even for a prog band technicality is secondary to all these other qualities that are much harder to define and become adept at. I think Rush proved that, even up to the end of their long and fantastic career as a band.
I've never got the chills from listening to prog since I was a Rush fan as a kid. Only Stimpy Lockjaw has come close. But Haken is working for me big time. Way too many people my age say that prog, and rock in general would never be the same or worsem the genres are dead (lols, no). But I've always stood my ground and told them they just weren't open to new experience and the kids these days were every bit as capable. Only the music industry itself was to blame.
Thanks Haken for proving me right finally. I didn't need proof personally, but now I have it anyway, lols.
P.S. I see a lot of comments suggesting other prog bands, and since I am both middle-aged and live in a very rural sparsely populated area far from my home city of Oakland/Berkeley California, I never hear of great bands anymore from fellow musicians and friends irl now. So I rely on you guys to help steer me towards the good stuff. S thanks in advance for the suggestions that at least some I am sure I will enjoy.
Absolutely amazing song, vocals just superb. Blows me away every time I listen.
I love the keyboard sound on the solo arround 10:50.. reminds me a lot of DT's beneath the surface.
Holy crap, they're this good live??
Supreme performance
Every day i listen to this track before i go to sleep :)
perfectly expanded song. I'd like to play in this band :D
What a masterpiece...
Hi! Do you know Maestrick? A Brazilian prog metal band!
czcams.com/video/zwOR6T6ZaLA/video.htmlsi=BpsUkC3nTHKvmwA-
I just recently acquired all of your albums. This was the first song I heard. So damn Impressed! My God I was blown away. Amazing music, amazing talent, amazing lyrics. Definitely got yourselves another fan in me . Hail Haken!
for me, best band ever.
They deserve so much. They're so fucking talented
Oh my God....it's AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is really brilliant. I've actually been in the middle of a death metal kick of late, so stumbling on the 'Pareidolia' was a happy accident. I've probably been responsible for half its plays since then. When people lament that there's no great music being made these days, I think about bands like Haken, and I have no idea what they mean.
Okay, fawning over.
Absoutely Hypnotic!! saw them support Mike Portnoy this year in Sydney Aus. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His voice rocks and the band were so tight!
Awesome!! A real dream the day you come to Brazil!! I have to go to England to watch you live
Finally a band that to fill the void left by Kansas, Yes, ELP ....great sound, tight, innovative, ,,,,
Amazing! Keep up the great job!
Simply love it!!!
Being a good songwriter is as much a challenge as being a good musician, and some people have both, these guys blend both tastefully and you essentially summed up the most fundamental features of any song. Say what you want about Haken but you can't deny their creativity
Epic !!!
first song I hear of them and already my new favorite band
This is awesome!!
The new generation prog metal band HAKEN!!!!!!
Genuinely indeed.
so amazing !!!!
yup, added to favorites. fucking beautiful
I love Celestial Elixir, is simply one of the best songs I've heard in a long time. Greetings from Argentina
I love Haken as they, but I really miss this open music, especially because Tom was such a skillful bassist in filling those spaces.
Please upload more guys! Would love to see more live footage from you... already loving you from Chile!!! Keep it up :)
Such a masterpiece!!
First heard Visions and was stunned, and 2 years later I can listen to that song every day for 20 odd minutes and don't get sick of it, even better I'm like "YES" when it shuffles in my playlist.
Awesome performance, cool dance in the beginning))
Love your music so much
Can’t wait for the next album
Perfect! This song is great!!
This is so awesome! Just found my favorite band!!
Love this band.
Fantastic!
This is truly brilliant
this is a masterpiece
