    It is very important to mention that paul is speaking about works of the LAW of moses. He does not refer to works of love, works of faith or anything like that. This was the initial ongoing struggle in the early church: The transition from the old covenant to the new covenant. In a nutshell: The law of moses does not apply to us any more (see first 5 chapters of epistle to Galatians; even though a lot of the moral laws, which is part of the law of moses, can be a guidance sometimes).
    We can never be made rightous before our god besides by yielding to Jesus because we have been guilty legally speaking. If we begin to follow Jesus, we are expected to continue to live rightous and holy and live an active beleiving life, though, which we can achieve by Jesus living in us (rather, Jesus achieves that in is) after true repentance, water baptism and baptism in the holy spirit. In epistle Titus you see in the first chapter that being made free from the world, the fleshly lusts and so on is part of the grace of god. I think this is the crux. We do not try to be good on our own but we need to let the holy spirit do it in us. Whenever we struggle with fleshly mindset we have to come closer and closer to Jesus. This is the key.

    • @willielee5253

    I think we need to draw a distinction between works of the law and good works.
    The former is used to prove or make oneself righteous but the later is a reflection of grace. Jesus called His followers, who were saved by grace through faith, to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, visit the sick, visiting those falsely accused, walking an extra mile, giving.

    Does this mean we don't have to set things right? Let's say if I've stolen money from someone, should I not repay it back after realising my error? Let's say I made a promise to someone but did not keep it, should I not fulfill it after realising my mistake?..The law talks about repayment, should we not do it then? Is restitution required or not? Zacchaeus did say he'll restitute and Jesus said, today salvation has come to this house.
    Please forgive if I sound mixing up two things, but I genuinely want to understand. I do understand that if I try fulfil the law as a means of righteousness then my faith is pointless. But I want to understand what about setting things right?

    • @DerekPrinceWithSubtitles
      @DerekPrinceWithSubtitles  Před 3 lety +3

      Great and very important question, Sahil. Thanks for asking. I'd like to say first of all, with the apostle Paul (to make an important statement): 'Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.' (Romans 3:31). But how does that work? We are justified by faith, not by law. That doesn't nullify the law. But, the law is no longer written on stone tablets but written on our hearts (2 Cor. 3:3). That means it is no longer a means of righteousness, but something that follows naturally out of your faith in Christ. If we love Him, then we keep His commandments (John 14:21), rather than keeping them in order to make God love us. So yes, we definitely need to make things right with people. The commandments of Jesus (e.g. in the Sermon on the Mount Matt. 5-7) are in some ways harder to keep than the law of Moses. I hope this will clarify some of your questions. But I'd anyway recommend you to study the book of Romans in order to grasp this important theme.

      When the apostle Paul talks about the law in his letters to the Romans and Galatians, he surely means the law of Moses. But, as Derek rightly points out, our understanding of 'law' (as Christians) can sometimes also mean personal laws and rules. By keeping those laws and rules, we try to earn God's favor. But the author of the letter to the Hebrews says: 'without faith it is impossible to please God' (Heb. 11:6). We're saved by grace through faith. So faith is a gift. When we believe and put our hope and trust in Jesus Christ, our Lord, we gladly obey God's law (that is written on our hearts (see Jeremiah 31:31-34). We obey out of love for Him.

    The most important effect of the law after showing us that we are sinners is: Trying to follow the law stirr up SIN! The bible says the POWER of sin is the LAW ( ten commandments) and it leads to DEATH!!!! - because the sting of death is sin. See 1 Cor. 15:56. The law (ten com.) make our evil desire come alive in our bodies and it leads to death. Compare Rom. 7:5). For more revelation of this topic of LAW AND GRACE i recommend another Prince - Joseph Prince.

    There are those that follow Christ and there are those who hide behind him! Your sins you cannot hide! Are you following him or are you hiding behind him? Get behind me Satan? Are you following him or are you behind him! Satan hides behind him and his followers are following him! It’s time to wake up! Ask yourself are you behind him or are you following him?

    God The Father Is A Spirit
    Jesus said to the woman of Samaria, "God The Father is a Spirit, and they that worship Him, must worship Him in Spirit and Truth"
    Man could not worship the Father in Spirit unless he himself was a spirit. It has been hard for us to become spirit conscious, to realize that spiritual things are as real as material things. We accept the fact that the Father is a Spirit, but we never realized the implications tied up in this fact.
    A spirit has personality, but not necessarily a physical body. Angels are spirits; demons are spirits. We cannot visual spirit beings. We cannot see the spirit any more than we can see the mind. We cannot see the force that lifts the tide. We can see the results of it.
    God The Father is a Spirit, and , as a Spirit , He created material substance. We know that He is not only a Spirit but He is a Love Spirit. We know He is a faith Spirit. We know that He spoke the universe into being with a Word, and He rules the Universe by "The Word of His Power."
    We know that man is a spirit, that he belongs to God Th Father's class of being, that he is eternal, that he can live in a body. He is capable of partaking of the nature of The Father, God. We know that he was to fill a place in The Father's heart. The Father, God wanted him, loved him and desired to impart His nature to him. We know that spiritual things are as real as material things. We know since man is a spirit, the greatest forces in him are spiritual. E.W. Kenyon, Two Kinds of Knowledge
