  • This is a demo of the setup I am using to record 3D 180 VR.
    I am using 2 of the following:
    GoPro Hero 12: amzn.to/3TN64i6
    Max Lens Mod 2.0 amzn.to/3TMxRyP
    And the following:
    3D printed file by Daniel Vega: shorturl.at/eAGM4
    DJI RS3 Gimbal amzn.to/3H3mvzd
    Gopro Timecode QR code: gopro.github.io/labs/control/...
    For the other mount I show, youll need:
    2 GoPro Media Mods: amzn.to/3NP72Xk
    A cold shoe mount like this: amzn.to/3S5oTeT
    and 2 male to male cold shoe adapters: amzn.to/3twadw5

    Amazing. I’ve just got the Quest 3 and am blown away by some of the 180 content on there, so obviously the next step was to look into rigs. The Canon R5 is too much but this I can do. Thanks!

    Hello, my dear friend.
    Please tell me and, if possible, show me the whole installation process. How to glue it all together for CZcams?
    Thank you.
    From where, where and how to insert the file of the left eye and from where, where and how to insert the file of the right device/camera? And how to process it all?
    It would not be bad with examples and if there are other options, then a comparison.
    I can't find anything. Please help me.
    Thank you very much.
    As always, a huge like!

      @AntonBarcelona it is 8:7 and turn off stabilization and set color temp and iso manually so the cameras match. Don't tell the gopro you have the max lens mod on and you'll get this circular video to work with. 4k 60fps

    • @mainelyhobbies

      They are 64mm apart because that is my PD. I think 65mm is standard for "most people". "And it would be really interesting to see your cutting workflow because now you've the stitching problem." not sure what you mean - I showed the cutting, but I didnt show the stitching here. I used a tutorial video posted by Hugh Hou I think it is.

      @@mainelyhobbies yes but how you managed it to get one VR180 3D Video out of it. Because you've two round videos you get. But the stitching process means you unfold the round video to a square one but even then you only have a VR180 without the second eye

  • @BenSake
    @BenSake Před 4 měsíci +2

    Action videos would really benefit from VR. We need to get this working. I guess the synchronization is the main challenge. Is there any USB C tool for that? Also for the gyroscopic stabilization, we might need to stabilize both videos using gyro data only from one of the cameras. But in that case, the mount would need to be very solid.

    • @mainelyhobbies
      @mainelyhobbies  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Sync is the easiest piece of the puzzle where you can just show the timecode to the cameras at the same time and have frame precise sync. I heard someone is making a tool to use 2 insta 360 x3 cameras, and it allows their flow stabilization.

    Good setup, though I'm a little skeptical about actually filming while using a gimbal. I can see people getting motion sickness very easily from that. (at least for 180 vr in a headset). Did you try the 5.7k mode or if not, could you make a sample for it? Would love to see how they compare in my Quest 3. If you could upload to a file sharing service, that would be amazing, as I have software on the Quest that can display these in full quality.

    Does the hypersmooth work when the camera is set to 177 degrees? Would be nice to get some VR walking videos but probably only worth it if the videos are stable.

    • @mainelyhobbies
      @mainelyhobbies  Před 5 měsíci +2

      No there is no hyper smooth in this mode. Really all hyper smooth does is crop , so you would lose field of view anyway. Also, I suspect if the two cameras aren't perfectly calibrated you might see issues with hypersmooth anyway, similar to how you need to have them in manual mode so they don't have varying color temperatures.

    • @switch2324
      @switch2324 Před 5 měsíci

      @@mainelyhobbies That is a shame. Would of been nice to have a VR bike video in the forest in 3D. Maybe with a gimbal, but then the weight would be a problem. Wasn't sure if there would be a way of synchronising the stabilization in post so that they match but have no idea how you would go about achieving it since it is a very niche use case.

    • @mainelyhobbies
      @mainelyhobbies  Před 5 měsíci

      Biking is one of the most vibration inducing activities... so much so that it's used as examples for stabilization quality on many action cameras. I don't think even a gimbal could save it from motion sickness haha.
