    Using Clorox wipes after spraying vinegar is a no-no. The result is the formation of chlorine gas, which when it comes in contact with moisture forms hydrochloric acid. Our bodies have a lot of water and if the chlorine gas comes into contact with our skin, eyes, or is inhaled the acids formed can do significant damage. It's OK to use both of these products as long as there is a thorough rinsing done in between them.

    Mine is three-years-old and is as clean as when it was new. Wipe the gasket down with a washcloth at the end of your wash day - really get into every fold. Remove the dispenser drawer and dry the top, bottom and sides of the compartment. Leave the drawer out to drain and dry overnight before putting it back. Every six months, drain and clean out the filter and never skip running the cleaning cycle when the machine prompts you to. One final thing, always leave the door open or ajar to prevent odors and mold. All of these steps are quick, easy and very effective.

    Just cancelled my appt. with an appliance insurance company after seeing your video last night. after setting up an appt. with an appliance insurance company. I asked them to replace the rubber with the mold and the dispenser compartment which wasn't releasing the softner. I had never had these problems before and never new it had to be cleaned aside from affresh. Thank you so much for posting this! I wish I took before/after photos because the machine is 95% mold free and clean. Took a lot of elbow grease, bleach, 2 tablets of affresh for the after math but it looks amazing. God bless you and keep these videos coming ❤️

    I just watched another video and it turns out that when cleaning the filter trap at the bottom, there is a little hose in that compartment that you pull out, remove the plug in the end, allowing the dirty water to easily drain that bottom compartment into a bucket/pan before unscrewing the filter itself. It helps with not having to let the water in the filter run out all in that that bottom filter compartment and likely onto the floor. Then you replace the plug in the hose, screw the filter/trap back in and are ready to go. Thanks for all the tips!

      🙂 I saw another video too, and you can actually remove the soap dispenser. Mold and soap and mildew can build up above the part you add the soap too. They also said using powdered soap and less softener will help.

    TYSM for your video. You've inspired me to clean my washer again to get the rest of the mold off. A few things for those who do not know. #1, the dispenser drawer comes completely out and every blue piece comes out as well so you separate/take apart every piece of the dispenser drawer, wash out in the sink then manually dry as much as you can. Let everything air dry keeping it all sparate. Ensure it's COMPLETELY dry before putting back together and back in its home. #2, the black hose next to the filter is the drain hose. You take the cap off to drain the water into a container, which is a good amount of water. Then you remove the filter after, never before. And PLEASE NEVER mix vinegar and bleach or use bleach or bleach products after using vinegar unless you have thoroughly rinsed & dried the vinegar off the area.

    Another alternative to washer cleaner tablets is using washing soda (sodium carbonate) or oxygen bleach (sodium per carbonate) like oxiclean. Use like 1 or 2 cups and run a hottest cycle. It’s one of the main ingredients used in those afresh cleaner tabs. It helps to sanitise and help to remove detergent buildup. Also it has a stronger ph than baking soda. It worked well when I took my front loader out of storage as it has a lot of mould build up. It seriously clean it all up to brand new.

    • @johndoe-vc1we
      @johndoe-vc1we Před rokem +1

      I use pure percarbonate. Oxiclean is only 30% and the rest is anti-caking agents and filler. About 50gm in 2.5 cu ft or 60-litre drum is good enough. Use more if your machine is larger. Can't say enough good things about oxygen bleach to clean out the drum. I also add a pound or a half kilo of clean fabric like hand towels to the drum. Helps to better swish the water all around the machine especially if it's a front loader and does a better job of cleaning than without.

    hi there, white vinegar can actually corrode rubber parts in washing machines because of its strong acidity. this can cause leaks and its now something we want to deal with. instead using a disinfectant from the store and then putting a hot wash on should clean the mold up pretty well.

And in the bottom compartment there is a black tube that you are supposed to pull out that has a white plug on the end and that is how you drain the water out. You just don't pull the filter right out. Clean in the hole that the filter goes in with a baby bottle brush.

    How long do you wait between applications of different solutions? So far I gather:
    1. Spray the ring with vinegar. Let sit for 1+ hour. Do you wipe it before you use Clorox wipes?
    2. Clorox wipe around. How long after vinegar application do you do this?
    3. Use the CLR mold remover. I’d assume wait for the Clorox wipes to air dry before using the CLR?
    You have the same washer and dryer that I have. It’s not in the video, but what disinfectant do you use in your dryer?
    And do you just use myers to freshen up the smell? Are there any other options you’ve liked? Like ram and hammer and such?

      I appreciate your questions. They are all very good ones too. How bad is the mold in yours? I'm curious because it would make a bit of difference if it were less. If you have less, I would use only the CLR mold remover and that should do the trick. Once your mold is removed, a random pray of vinegar every week and a half or so with an hour sit would be preventative for sure. And the vinegar is natural so that is perfect for keeping it up.
      So in the video, mine was pretty bad. I used the vinegar and I wiped that out Very good with a wet cloth and a tiny bit of soap. Then I went over it quick with the Clorox wipe to get any more germs that may be there. That was to be thorough and mostly for satisfaction but not necessary unless you feel. After you make sure the vinegar is cleaned and diluted then the clear mold will get anything stubborn.
      I used the Mrs Meyers to freshen it up. I do that sometimes between washes too just to wipe it down.
      Also, if you wipe the outside of your washer, don't use Clorox where the letters are you know, where you pick delicate, normal, bedding, all that. That Clorox will take your letters off. Just a heads up.
      I will be making an updated video soon to answer and be more in depth to simplify this process more. Stick around so you can see it. I found something else recently that
      Worked wonders and will explain it about it then too.

    • @myranda_achvan
      @myranda_achvan  Před rokem

      I appreciate your advice! That you! I don't leave the liquid drawer open. That I'll definitely start to do for now on. I appreciate the heads up on that. The door though. I always leave it open and this still occurs. It doesn't happen too quick but it does happen over a little time. What do you think about that?

    • @OhWanya
      @OhWanya Před rokem

      @@myranda_achvan I don’t know if you do that but still ; I always wipe dry the seal of the washer and keep it open. It helps me get rid of the lint and dry down the seal.
      After each use, I take out the drawer and let the remaining water go down a sink. Most of the time the drawer is kept on top of the washer so that the tubing inside is kept dry.
      Once a week after a wash, I spray vinegar in the tubing of the drawer ( mainly the top where the water dispense to descale and the far end )and the door seal and let it work for about 5 min, after that I dry the door seal and the washer aerate. I don’t dry the tubing of the drawer.
      It’s about 1 min to 6 min of a routine that my mother thought me and my mom never had mildew or mold in her front load. I myself never had mold or mildew and my door seal looks brand new 🤷‍♀️
      Another trick;
      Using vinegar as a softener or putting borax with the detergent in each load will help the acidity go down and prevent the mold surviving if nothing else work.
      there is a last trick, but it’s a tad annoying ; investing in a dehumidifier. My mother used one at some point for a old washer (15 y) who kept water down the drum (it was impossible to see but if you where moving the drum you could hear the water moving) ; mold would develop in between wash … in her case she had to pour a good amount of vinegar to prevent mold and let the dehumidifier operate near the door.
      so yeah a dehumidifier is a last resort if nothing else work because mold need moisture and obscurity and a good ph thrive. It will definitely work for the seal and drum if need be.
      Omg i wrote a book, I’m sorry 🥲

The drain to clean under the washer you need to drain with house attached before opening the filter. Filter will clean better in sing with tooth brush. The show box will come all the way out. In middle yiu see tap with lines on that press down and the whole thing comes out. You will not believe how much mold under and over in this area and lots of soap residue. Start to learn how to use a washing machine, because you guys doesn't know, that way mould and nasty stuff appear! Use hot and extra hot if you got, buy a machine that have a heating element inside for reaching the right temperature, and use at least once a week s extra hot or hot washing towels whites beddings with powder detergent and oxygen additive, some times do a rinse with clorine bleach, and once every 2 months do a tub cleaning cycle with 200ml of citric acid! Your machine will last 20 years and will stay very clean like new! For dark clothes you can use liquid for dark and cold but at least once a week an hot cycle with power for removing the nasty liquid detergent that build up inside with the bacteria of the clothes! Also the door and the detergent drawer need to be allways open when not used! Remember extra hot hot water, hot like you 😍😛😘

If you've ever had one of these apart, meaning completely apart, the entire outside of the drum is covered in glack.. the same glack that gets in the boot, covers the entire outside of the drum that you cannot see. That is the smell you get. So we need someone to come up with a way to clean the outside of the drum without having to take the entire washing machine apart.

    There is a black hose to use to drain the filter compartment prior to opening the filter. Ugh read the directions on your appliances.

      You can’t go wrong with that. I made a updated video recently. One of my friends here told me to do that. I didn’t know for the longest time that the whole thing comes out. So grateful always for great tips ♥️

    I liked the video however the Meyers cleaner u are using is not a disinfect at all. None of the mrs meters cleaners offer any type of anti bacterial properties.

      Thank you for you message 🙂 I believe vinegar would be the best disinfectant as far as a green product goes. You’re right, Mrs. Meyers doesn’t claim to be a disinfectant but one of the ingredients in Mrs. Meyers is methyl 2-sulfolaurate which is a soap. Soaps are either ionic or nonionic, with the ionic ones being more efficient and the nonionic ones easier on the skin. That’s their “natural like” disinfectant. But to be most certain, vinegar will always do the trick which is most likely what I’ll be using here on to be 100%
