One thing I never understood about Stallone in his Prime is that he never did a historic/fantasy-esque movie like Conan The Barbarian, or one set in ancient Rome (since he has Italian heritage). I always thought that was a missed opportunity. Stallone as a Centurion or Roman General campaigning against the Barbarians led by Dolph Lundgren or Ralf Moeller would have been incredible in that unique era of action stars. In fact something like the Gladiator (2000) would have suited him very nicely.
@Bruce there is literally an ancient Roman painting that looks exactly like Stallone. In fact its a popular thing on the internet to compare Stallone to ancient Roman statues and paintings because of his distinct Italian features.
He wouldn't be taken seriously as a real historical figure. Something like Conan might have worked though.

If Gladiator had been filmed 10 years earlier with Stallone in Crowe's role, it would have been a certified hit, though distinctly Stallone-esque. I wish he had something similar like Conan, but maybe trying to distance himself from his rival was precisely the reason why he didn't.
He's not done sci fi either really has he? (I guess Judge Dredd and D Man but both films the setting are almost irrelevant)

Because the world has stupid standards. Why does everyone else hate Pluto Nash? I thought that was a perfectly decent movie. Certainly in the top 50% of Eddie Murphy movies. Why does everyone else love Napoleon Dynamite? I thought that was about as enjoyable as watching someone drool.
Same with IMDB, its all these reviewers with a checklist and ppl who look way too deep. Some 4/10 movies are 10/10 for most everyday people
It is an underrated comedy. What they should've done with the film is more or less kind of do(in my opinion) a crossover with "Cobra". Or have his character be similar to a certain extent as being this badass, take no prisoners, respected law enforcement officer until his mother comes into the picture.

I love Arny because his biggest attribute is his sharp sense of humor and willingness to laugh at himself. Everyone should watch James Cordon's segment with Arnold "Spill Your Guts". I fell on the floor laughing.
This. It makes him so relatable. Also, over the years he has been constantly putting out instructive and motivational material that's not about "how to be Mister Universe like me" but real down-to-earth advice for people who just want to be a little fitter. He isn't out there saying "work harder, work your fucking ass off to be successful" - he's saying "Try to get something done today. You got something done today? Good on you, that's the way to go!" So he's not just relatable but also actively relates to people. You can always see it in the way he words his replies and advice to fans.

To be fair, Arnold was quite decent as Mr Freeze (except for the cheesy lines but he didn't write the script). It's the rest of the movie that sucked.
I've seen Arnold in serious roles where he was down, depressed and somewhat vengeful like End of Days, no comedy at all. He could play that sort of Mr. Freeze with a suit similar to the animated series and he would get rave reviews. Even Schumacher said he wasn't happy with how Warner Bros. were doing Freeze.
