Clark (Chevy Chase) gets tongue-tied with the saleswoman at the lingerie counter.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Chevy Chase, star of National Lampoon's Vacation and its sequel, is back as the paterfamilias of the Griswold family (including Beverly D'Angelo as his missus) to skewer the Yuletide season. Chevy mugs, trips, falls, mashes his fingers and stubs his toes as he prepares to invite numerous dysfunctional relatives to his household to celebrate Christmas. Amidst the more outrageous sight gags (including the electrocution of a cat as the Christmas tree is lit) the film betrays a sentimental streak, with old wounds healing and long-estranged relatives reuniting in the Griswold living room. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation was still capable of attracting an audience five years after its release -- it was one of the top-rated seasonal TV specials of 1994, outrating even the first network telecast of It's a Wonderful Life.

Well, John Hughs actually didn’t direct Christmas Vacation. He was in on the screenplay, but he didn’t have as much to do with Christmas Vacation as he did Planes, Trains, and Home Alone.

My wife was very pretty when I first met her 45 years ago at a Halloween party in college and I sat down next to her and we talked. It's a good thing I thought she was way out of my league so I was very relaxed talking to her. If I had actually been trying to lead up to asking her out I would have made an idiot out of myself just like Chevy Chase in this scene. I found out a couple days later through her girl friend of my buddy's that gave the party she was wondering when I was going to ask her out so that was sure a great surprise.

One thing that most people don't realize is that 'Russ' is played by Johnny Galecki who went on to play Leonard in Big Bang Theory. So he went from having Chevy Chase as his dad to living with Sheldon, two exasperating characters. LOL
I didn't even recognize him. He was a cute kid. Hard to imagine that he would grow up and play a total nerd.

It usually takes me a long time to get into the Christmas spirit. I don’t like to sing carols, I don’t put up my tree in November or rush out to shop on Black Friday, etc. But this hilarious classic movie is something I can watch at ANY point in the year, not just at Christmas.

No matter what anyone says about him. Chevy Chase will always remain one of the legendary comedians. No one could express those facial expressions or dirty comments like him. His talent was remarkable. A shame his legacy got torn apart.

@@mfzoom5401 because he apparantly got a lot of enemies in Hollywood, quarrels with directors and so on. Rumor says he was difficult to work with and he came of as arrogant. He fell off after the 90’s and never became as big as he had the potential to. Most people look at him with disgust rather than affection nowadays, that’s what I meant with his legacy.
Well, Chevy Chase caused a lot of his own trouble. Too much Coke & other drugs, for one thing, and also he could be a total jerk.
I don't like him personally, but he was very good as a comedic actor. He had to work off of a script, though, because he wasn't giid at all at ad libs or spontaneous humor. His talk show circa 1990 was actually hard to watch.
