- Today's video is a glimpse back to 48 years ago on our wedding day. We got married in Detroit Michigan at our home church, Bethesda Missionary Temple which is now known as Bethesda Christian Church. All of our siblings were a part of our wedding since we were the first to get married in our family. Jerry was 20 (4 mths from turning 21) and I was 22. We were young and naive and flying by the seat of our pants (so to speak), but we loved each other and we had a lot of support from family and friends. Little did we know where we would be 48 years later. But I must say, it has been an exciting life so far. Thanks for watching and celebrating with us! Susan

I have been married for 25 years and from the beginning my husband and I said divorce was not an option ! You work it out and you hold on and now some of the worse disagreements (what we thought was the worse) are now minor in our minds

I lost my husband in 2008. I'd give anything to see him again. In December we would be celebrating our 24th Anniversary. I miss him so much! You guys are a true example. ❤️

That was the best !I giggled some then laughed a lot. Your story was a bit like ours.we fought a lot more than you two. Married in 76. My husband died last year of Covid, now that was a shock! Wow what memories!! We also were married 48 years in August this year. I was 20, husband 21. Met on a blind date in March 1972. My bridesmaids wore pink hats like your white one. I had the long Lacey veil and more of a Victorian dress with lace and buttons. Our cake had the pedestals too but with fountain on bottom. My husband still had 2 years of engineering left at GMI in Flint , but we lived in Indiana. Small world! Love your pictures. Think my dad had a suit like yours. Happy Anniversary!

We’ve been married 36 years and divorce was never an option either. We never thought about it. We struggled for a few years and had lots of Hamburger Helper because it was cheap. Happy Anniversary to you both.

Your story sounds so familiar to me. Hubby and I just had our 49th anniversary and I remember the chase, the long distance phone calls, the travel on weekends. But those marriages were somehow longer lasting than most today. The good old days!!!!!! By the way, I live very close to Gatlinburg.

Happy Anniversary!! Ya'll are so cute!!! Divorce wasn't ever a thing we wanted in our marriage. We just celebrated 20 years. We both came from parents who divorced and it wasn't an option for us. I know how hard that can be....my dad has been married 8 times. So much disfunction. BUT God makes a way for us if we put HIM first.

Happy Anniversary...I left MA in 1974 and moved to Detroit as a live in babysitter...Oh what a nightmare... I lasted from Nov to Jan 75 and was never so happy to leave that city and those ppl..I thought were friends....The ppl I worked for had a caddy covertible... Talk about driving a tank lol...

My brother and his wife got married in the mid 70's...(1974, I think)....No fancy wedding. Her pastor married them in LR of her home she shared with her Dad. Her Mom died when she was 13. They are still hanging on....👍👀😍

I was raised the same way regarding marriage. We did have our fights, but knew we had to work it out, because there was no other option. People nowadays give up too soon. Im thankful for my raising. Now we are in our 70's. Been married 54 years. And been through a lot together. Now taking care of each other in our senior years through some serious health issues.

Listening to your dating, wedding and honeymoon is almost like ours...eating hamburger helper because we had no money and our honeymoon was spent in Omaha, NE because we got a coupon from the paper for a 2 night stay along with a steak and champagne dinner for $42.00!
