For those who do not know, the story goes that Balbastre, whilst organist of Notre Dame Paris, was so popular that at times, there was standing room only in the church and folk spilling into the street, especially near Christmas when the cathedral authorities asked him not to play his famous Noels for fear of an unseemly riot!
may I say THIS is FANTASTICALLY played. For me all excelent harpsichord players are joined in his play , except that he adds his very own personal strongness as well as poetry. He must be the best .....
Simply beautiful performance! By the clever and tasteful change of the different registers it is so much more expressive than most other harpsichord performances.
Very impressive - the piece and its performance. Bravo! What I don't understand is, why I feel the instrument-sound to be a little bit different between the 2 instruments, compared to the last upload (although the same Bruce Kennedy, the same year and the same pitch, after N. Blanchet)? Is it because of the difference between Palazzo Mazzolari's acoustic and Palazzo Gradari-Mamioni where you played the La Marche des Scythes by Royer?
Thank you 🙏

This performance is such a joy to listen to.
I love Balbastre’s music . During the revolution he’s credited with saving some of the organs in Paris by playing bravura settings of the Marseilles

He is..........
Rich with personal music making! Wonderful!
I love his style or playing.....it's so different from everyone else but very imaginative and expressive....more original.
I have just one word to say..., BEAUTIFUL. The tune of tha hapsichord is exellent for that piece.
Mencoboni is really wonderful in Balbastre like his Royer he finds the right tempo and approach .
