    I've had my Crizal Sapphire lenses for about three years now and they're still going strong, although I need to change them not because they're not functioning properly anymore; but because my powers have changed so I need to get a new pair. Crizal Sapphire coatings are pretty expensive, but when you compare them to other standard AR coatings, you'll see that the price to quality ratio is good because they're going to last you a really long time with nearly no decrease in quality.

    Just bought a new pair of glasses (CR-39 - RT +.5 / LT +1.5) with the prevencia coating as I am on digital screens for 10 plus hours a day. Have been told to only wear plastic lens due to my prescription. I knew going in that I would have the violet reflections from the front side but I am having issues with the backside of the lens. When light hits the back of the lens I am getting JJ Abrams violet lens flare. It's mostly in my peripheral vision but it's very distracting. Have been told to give it time although I don't know how that will resolve the issue. It seems to me the back side has more violet reflections than the front. Any input would be most welcome. Thanks

      It’s the prevencia coating. It’s for that same reason that I don’t like to wear lenses with that type of coating. You may want to look into filtering blue light on the lens level and not on the coating level. Look into Shamir Blue Zero or BluTech lenses. Those are better choices.

      @@EyeInfluence I actually emailed Essilor with this question, and this is their response, "The only dishwashing liquid we recommend consumers use on their Ophthalmic Lenses is Dawn (non concentrated)." I bought a 25 oz bottle for $2.00. That should last me for a very long time. I was very surprised that they only recommended one dish soap, but I've been using it and it has been great.
      As far as cleaning goes, they simply said to rinse the lenses under running warm (not hot) water first (to remove any debris), rub the lenses on both sides with that particular dish soap, rinse the soap off, then dry the lenses with a microfiber cloth (like what comes with the lenses). I take this a step further by only using cold water (they still come clean), and blowing the remaining water off of the lenses (so nothing touches them). I thought it would help to post the official cleaning method recommended by that lens manufacturer.

      It's really hard to say which company has the best quality AR coating since they all call it something different. If you could find an online company that uses Crizal, Zeiss or Shamir then it's easier to make a suggestion. I like the Shamir Glacier and the Crizal Sapphire coatings but those are usually only found through your local optical shop.

      To be quite honest, at this point they are just about even. I wouldn’t recommend going for a blue light AR coating, instead, I would suggest looking into essilor essential blue lenses. They filter blue light in the lens and not through a coating. Then you can add the AR of you choice on top of that.
      In the next year or two blue light AR will be a thing of the past. It will all be done in the lens.

    Hi. my age is 26 (Male) from India. My distance vision error is -0.75 . I going to wear glasses first time. I have to wear glasses for full day. I am studying. Also, like every person I use mobile, laptop and watch TV.
    These are my requirments:-
    1. I want clear visibility, sharp and natural colours like which we get from healthy naked eyes but I don't want yellow or blue or green hue/ tint.
    2. I want glasses which are highly Scratch-Resistant, Anti-Reflective, Anti-Dust & Anti-Smudge and last longer life.
    First i had decided to buy crizal Prevencia lens but then I read online that it has bit yellowish hue/tint, so i cancelled it.
    So, please suggest me which lens should I buy Crizal Sapphire 360 UV 1.56 index or Ziess DuraVision Platinum 1.56 index or any other model?
    (It Should be branded but not be very costly).

    Love this video.
    I just got a new prescription for my Burberry frames two days ago. My Rx is for computer/reading with blue blocking light (higher end) with anti-reflective coating. I'm on Zoom calls all day and notice there is a noticeable bad reflection on my lenses in meetings. The reflection of my laptop screen are on my lenses. After that happened, I've read online that if you are on Zoom calls all day, it's best to not have blue blocking light lenses. I have 3-4 weeks to change my mind on lenses with where I got my glasses. Do I remove the blue blocking and just get AR lenses (Crizal 360)?
    With my old pair with blue blocking light lenses (one version older than the new ones), I do find they help with eye strain. I get less eye fatigue. Perhaps the size of lenses in my old pair of glasses are slightly smaller that the reflection wasn't so prominent but the Burberry frame lenses are VERY noticeable as the lenses are slightly bigger.
    Many thanks again for your time!

    Nice explanation but, do these coatings wear off with use?

    • @EyeInfluence
      @EyeInfluence  Před 4 lety +2

      Yes, but it depends on how often you clean your glasses and with what solution. For example, if you clean your glasses with cleaner that has alcohol, the coating will break down quickly. Soap and water is a great way to clean glasses and drying them with a microfiber cloth will reduce scratching.
      Durability will also depend on the quality of coating. Crizal Sapphire should last 2-3 years without noticeable deterioration. Other brands like Zeiss and Shamir also make high end, and very durable, coatings.

      @EyeInfluence  Před 5 lety +6

      I've checked a few places and unfortunately most online shops don't carry a good variety of premium AR coatings. EZContacts carries the entire Crizal coating line but that's about it. In order to get a full range of options you might have to visit a local store.
      Companies like Crizal, Zeiss and Shamir and pretty faithful to physical locations so they give them priority. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before we see them online.
      What I can say is many places will use the term "premium" or "superior" when describing their coatings but they are really just standard coatings. I'll do more research on online options and get back to you if I find more choices.
