The problem with "blacks" as far as supporting each other for the greater good of the "black community" is that many of us have yet to define the paramaters of said community. I live in NYC, which is a melting pot of many black cultures (African, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Hispanic, African American, etc). In order to get to the supporting each other part. We must stop fighting over who's culture is better within our own background (ie, Haiti vs Jamaica, Nigeria vs Ghana or Trinidad vs Barbados) much less each others background (ie African born vs African American born). At the end of the day, other ethnicities see us all as Black. Where as the divide in our "Black Community" is much more complicated than that. Let me not even get started on language, religion and upbringing. Many times I've heard African born blacks say that American born blacks are lazy, unmotivated, are uncivilized...etc. I don't even want to get started on the color-ism portion of it all. Oi, I don't know if we will ever truly get to the putting aside our internal differences and working together as a collective to do better for the black community as a whole, but I have hope. and we have time. It seems like the only time that we do actually get on the same page is when there is a civil rights issue (i.e someone is shot/assaulted by a cop or is treated in an unjust way by someone of another race (or sometimes by our own).

An international study has found that the Chinese people originated not from Peking Man in northern China, but from early humans in East Africa who moved through South Asia to China some 100,000 years ago, Hong Kongs Ming Pao daily reported yesterday in a finding that confirms the single origin theory in anthropology.
According to the newspaper, a research team led by Jin Li (of Fudan University in Shanghai has found that modern humans evolved from a single origin, not multiple origins as some experts believe.
In China, school textbooks teach that the Chinese race evolved from Peking Man, based on a theory that humans in Europe and Asia evolved from local species.
But Jin and his fellow researchers found that early humans belonged to different species, of which only the East African species developed into modern humans.
This new finding nullifies the theory that the ancestors of the Chinese people were Peking Man who lived in northern China 400,000 years ago.
Based on DNA analyses of 100,000 samples gathered from around the world, a number of human families evolved in East Africa some 150,000 years ago, said Li Hui, a member of Jins team.
About 100,000 years ago, some of those humans began to leave Africa, with some people moving to China via South and Southeast Asia, Li said.
According to the newspaper article, it has been proven that the 65 branches of the Chinese race share similar DNA mutations with the peoples of East and Southeast Asia.
It said that the Shanghai scientists were part of an international team comprised of researchers from Russia, India, Brazil and other nations in a five-year project studying the geographic and genealogical routes related to the spread and settlement of modern humans.

In South Africa there is an affirmative action law called Black Empowerment Act, this law was voted to help black people who faced discrimination for generations under the apartheid regime. The same as blacks, South Africans of Chinese descent also faced discrimination under the apartheid regime. However, the Black Empowerment Act did not cover them since they were not blacks. To fix this injustice, the South African supreme court decided to put South Africans of Chinese descent under the same category of people who faced discrimination under the apartheid regime (just like black South Africans) so that they can benefit from the affirmative action law (Black Empowerment Act).
Diversity is a disaster.

This isn't about making Chinese Blacks in South Africa there was apartheid which grouped people into four groups
1.Whites(European/Middle Eastern,Japanese)
2.Blacks(Black Africans,Chinese)
3.Coloureds(Mixed race)
4.Asians (Indians,Pakistani etc)
So by Black they mean group 2 and can in a broader sense mean groups 3 and 4 which means they can benefit from Affirmative Action and BEE which are policies put in place in South Africa to help previously disadvantaged people and with Chinese only Chinese born in Apartheid or have parents that lived during Apartheid will be considered black which is a small percentage it's like maybe 10,000 people cause the majority of Chinese are new migrants to South Africa

The problem with "blacks" as far as supporting each other for the greater good of the "black community" is that many of us have yet to define the paramaters of said community. I live in NYC, which is a melting pot of many black cultures (African, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Hispanic, African American, etc). In order to get to the supporting each other part. We must stop fighting over who's culture is better within our own background (ie, Haiti vs Jamaica, Nigeria vs Ghana or Trinidad vs Barbados) much less each others background (ie African born vs African American born). At the end of the day, other ethnicities see us all as Black. Where as the divide in our "Black Community" is much more complicated than that. Let me not even get started on language, religion and upbringing. Many times I've heard African born blacks say that American born blacks are lazy, unmotivated, are uncivilized...etc. I don't even want to get started on the color-ism portion of it all.
Oi, I don't know if we will ever truly get to the putting aside our internal differences and working together as a collective to do better for the black community as a whole, but I have hope. and we have time.
It seems like the only time that we do actually get on the same page is when there is a civil rights issue (i.e someone is shot/assaulted by a cop or is treated in an unjust way by someone of another race (or sometimes by our own).
