      Good story?Oh yeah, fighting "dark energies" and jurassic park...and Garrosh alone getting so powerful that he is a treat to both ally and horde..only to be killed 1v1 by Thrall alter.PvP..was the worst...ever.The music was good thou, i agree on that one, but overall mop was the worst and not in just my opinion.At least cata brought some new and refreshing stuff along with more cool music, stories and 2 new cool races.

      amog10 I thought the story was good, it lingered with dark subjects in a way that wow never did before. All other expansions villains were demons, zombies, dragons, and such, yet in Pandaria, the big villain was war, the alliance and the horde, and by consequence, the player. It dealt with heavy themes, such as genocide, slavery, racism, segregation, totalitarianism, torture of civilians, mass murder weapons, etc. This things still happen in our world, so they feel more real than demons from space or the evil dead. That's why I liked Pandaria's story, but it is just my opinion, you can disagree.

    One of the most beautiful pieces of music I've heard. I love the mix of the organic choirs and the deep, echoing modulation. It really gives it this strong sense of loss and... I dunno, it just kinda screams that sort of "This is the end of it all" feeling in terms of Arthas' story.

    A spine-chilling tune from 4:00 onward. Especially knowing now what I never guessed then; that the faint and fading voice singing may as well have been WoW itself, giving its last cry before falling to the rubbish that was Cata and now MoP. Wrath was WoW's swan song and this melody was Wrath's swan song. Oh bitter, bitter - this day. Times of glory in Northrend - now so far away.

    Want to know why? Because the Lich King actually had a plan and a story which didn't involve doing the work himself, unlike Deathwing who is just all 'RAWR I'M AN ANGURY DARGUN, PHEER MEH'. LK kills the entire raid party against him in an instant near the end, simply because he's done playing with them. Deathwing couldn't, or at least didn't, in his final fight. Hell, he couldn't even get off that last spell because we kept slapping his hands and telling him no. Literally.

    Input appreciated, Laan. It's true that as of today, there is no cure for the Scourge. However, there are other factors to consider:
    (i) The old Dalaran had far more magical resources and a greater population of experienced mages than the new one does.
    (ii) A fully mobilised Silver Hand, backed by the Lordaeron army, would have been well able to control Stratholme. Stratholme may have been a big city, but the undead of Stratholme were a bunch of -zombies-. More a blow to morale than a threat.

    And whilst many people fight about the best expansions and whatever more, the rest of us shall listen to the music and focus on that, after all, it's what we came here for? I adore this soundtrack, when listening too it you can imagine the snow and icy terrain, and that mystic other worldly feel as your walking through it. The fact that WoW has it's ups and downs is irrelevant to this video, so instead of fighting it out about this, that and the other, enjoy the soundtrack! C:

    @TriniKnight01 Arthas is a typical tragic protagonist of the Greek Tragedy, which is most probably what Blizzard wanted him to be. He has the "Aristotlian flaw" which brings about his downfall, which was his strong devotion to the protection of his people that made him take Frostmourne and so on. It is sad what happens to his father and the kingdoms he destroyed, but most of the tragedy is still centred around Arthas, just like the character of Hamlet in Shakespeare's Hamlet.

    @TriniKnight01 It also caused his death as the Lich King. He needed to see the champions of life and order march up his doorstep, best all his own champions, just to see if he could defeat them himself, and raise them as his own. He could have ended us on a number of times. Dalaran was placed horribly, and could have been destroyed by wyrms at any moment. Pride is the death of all greatness, and the bane of even the most holy beings.

    @Deyyhayederaned I have no doubt we'll be empowered in some way for the fight anyway but really by the time we fight him our characters will be incredibly strong. The thing about WoW lore is that even members of the regular races can become gods because their increase in power never ceases.
    And let's not forget that the Old Gods were rivals to the Titans and we've already killed 2 possibly or at least killed 1 and badly wounded another.

I knew my lore, I knew Arthas's story, and was thrilled to go to the place that damned him in ice and the grave. I could stomach Cataclysm, at least Death Wing has his own lore. But, I just can't swallow this whole Pandoria thing. I don't threaten to never play again, I loved this game. However, it started to die when they killed Arthas.

    @Jewlaan Před 14 lety

    @Alexhackedone Mal'ganis was simply toying with Arthas in Stratholme. That was made clear by his ability to leave after the culling. His real goal there was to lure the prince to Northrend and take up Frostmourne. The people of Stratholme wouldn't have made much difference in the long run; as can be seen now, the city is under complete control of the scourge.

    Actully Deathwing did do something pretty Big. But was mostly during the War of Ancients 10k years ago. He almost wiped out the entire Blue Dragonflight during his betrayal, it's one of the roots that made Malygos so pissed and crazed that he started the Nexus War. He also made the Demon Soul, which led the Old Horde, and himself to some events in the Second War.
    But yes, I agree that Arthas > Deathwing, actully > all in terms of Warcraft Lore.

  • @TriniKnight01
    @TriniKnight01 Před 14 lety

    Arthas didn't sacrifice everything to save his people. He sacrificed everything to save his ego. As an untested, barely-trained paladin, he thought he was better than Uther or any of the older heads of the Silver Hand.
    It was his hubris that brought the tragedy about, not his "heroism". He more than deserved his fate. If you need to mourn, do so for the dead king and betrayed people of Lordaeron, not the spoiled prince who authored their end and made wise-cracks while doing it.

    @ArkBlanc, actually Arthas would've called in the Vrykul, Val'Kyr, a couple million undead, and a few more of his servant races. Deathwing would've shot fireballs. Deathwing is powerful but he's just a former dragon aspect that got corrupted.

Arthas was badass, but I can't say he could take on Old Gods, they're eternal, and he's dead. I really don't know what kind of alliance they had, because the scourge even had a faceless one prisoner in the saronite mines

    Arthas would never have culled Stratholme if his pride wasn't hurt in Hearthglen. He wouldn't have gone north if Mal'ganis didn't challenge that pride in Stratholme. He was clearly ungrounded in the Light, based on his interchange with Uther in the first mission.

    Arthas was the weak point in the equation. There's a reason why things were engineered not only to draw him north, but to -keep his father from finding out what was going on-. King Terenas was older, wiser and more experienced, having led the Old Alliance during the Second War, and would have definitely handled it in a way that was less hasty and didn't involve anyone sacrificing his conscience.
    Still, it worked out. The fall of Lordaeron drove Jaina east to Hyjal. And the world was saved.

If the Scourge went on a mindless rampage, they'd all be in complete disorder and easy to pluck, had they been countered by Alextrasza, her dragons and the other dragons- also, don't forget the Horde and the Alliance - they've held them off before.

    God damn, if Blizzard can do anything right, it's make an incredible musical score for their games.

    @DramaTiqq true, but if he had some sort of a resistance to hunger for power in his Will..i doubt that Frostmourne would have possessed him

    @Nemesis921 A conflict between Deathwing and Arthas would be in Arthas's favor, actually. No matter the environment, Arthas is still stronger than Deathwing simply because Deathwing is in a weakened state at the moment, while Arthas was at his full strength. Not to mention a long, drawn-out battle would be in favor of Arthas for two reasons: Arthas is unrelenting while Deathwing actually needs to rest and look after the cracks in his body to make sure the Demon Soul doesn't tear his body apart.

    The valkyries would sting like mosquitoes to Deathwing, and guess what; Deathwing can fly! Zomg :o
    And he can shoot fireballs! Omg! :O
    While I did see Arthas resurrecting a few thousand undeads and some frost wyrms, I still haven't seen him destroying entire settlements and cracking continental plates simply by passing through ;')
    Deathwing would simply be like: "Oh, didn't see you Arthas, my apologies... didn't mean to scorch you to a crisp, was only passing by D: "

    I would have liked an Emerald Dream expansion. It's got a lot of lore never touched on, and instead they went for completely changing the Pandaren Lore and putting in Farmville.
