I went to school in Cali with a classmate that shared the first pilot episode in class before it hit TV along with the sketches of all the characters, his uncle was one of the animators. That was one of the best show n tells I ever seen.
that sentinel would probably look good alongside the old 90s ToyBiz x-men figures.
I can't wrap my head around the fact a 12" Wolverine is $12 but a 14" Sentinel is $23 while Spinmaster is putting out a 12" Batman with twice the articulation for $11, and many of Hasbro's other Titan Hero Series are in that $12 - $15 range. I'm sure most people probably want to get at least 3 for their display to recreate Night of the Sentinels and I agree it does look good enough for that purpose, but to do that $75 after tax feels like I'm getting gouged for what is honestly a very basic figure in a kids line. I'm probably in the minority though based on how hungry people seem to be for ANY sentinel that's not $500 on ebay. Maybe if I saw it in retail I might be swayed, but I'll probably witness the second coming of Christ before I see one in Target or Walmart.

These are fun. You're right, these are very Spin Master. I super miss the Retro 3.75 line though, I hope it comes back for the Secret Wars anniversary.
I really want Hasbro to continue the Epic Series scale figures. There are a lot of characters missing from my 4 inch Marvel Universe collection. Sentinel is just perfect for army building!
Really fun review! Arcade Nightcrawler & the Tobiz fig were my gateway into X-men also. Stoked for the new show.

Great video! Let's not forget now that Ramen Toy will make a sewer diorama at affordable realistic prices, and we can use it for the Morlocks: 180 shipped with 1K units sold, 150 shipped with 2K units sold.
I think it's important to note that this is not an exclusive X-Men '97 line, just a wave of the new Epic Heroes line, which shares an annual budget and release calendar with the MCU, Mechasaurs, and general Marvel. It's not meant to be a holistic offering, really, so comparing the selection to the ToyBiz X-Men line seems unjustified.
Toy Biz had countless marvel lines running at the same time and each wave at least doubled what we got here. I understand there’s a shared budget, but this approach pales in comparison to the likes of Playmates mutant mayhem offerings, or Mattel’s MOTU.
@@GeekDadLife The approaches are not meant to be the same, though. You're comparing all of ToyBiz's X-Men line (which is a line in and of itself separate from ToyBiz's other carded lines) to Hasbro's brand new Epic Heroes line, which will only see about 25 figures a year, shared between MCU, Mechstrike, and a general Marvel wave. The same goes with comparing these X'97 figures to those dedicated toylines for TMNT, etc. It's just so apples and oranges I can't really have a good faith discussion about comparing them. 🤷♂️

The regular figures are smaller than 3.75. I have Rogue and shes smaller than the old Marvel Universe 3.75 figures. They are TINY!

Great video Jay!! I’m also super excited for the new X-Men animated series and toys! I too love the Toy Biz X-Men toy line! I have an extensive collection of loose and carded figures. That toy line is so great! I also collect Marvel legends that look similar to the Toy Biz figures. Wish a new Toybiz 5” X-men toyline reboot would happen, kinda like Playmates is doing for TMNT. Question is who would make them, Hasbro?
with regards to the X-jet, perhaps the same guy who suggested plastic free packaging was on the design team

The Xjet reminds me of this toybiz vehicle that was released in maybe 98(?) that was just a single seater... wish i could remember the name (maybe it was also called the x-jet. It was cool and I preferred playing with it too the larger Blackbird toy, which i was also luck enough to have. The main problem with the Black Bird was that when you pick it up and move it around it tended to fall apart into its 3 different parts.
oh, it took 10 seconds to google it was the "1995 ToyBiz Marvel X-Men Mini Blackbird Jet " and it came with a cyclops toy.
First xmen toy biz figure was eric the red from the shiar...i fell on love with that thing...just purchased one still in the the box from ebay.❤❤❤❤❤💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
I've got the 90s Sentinel "playset," but haven't seen this new one instore yet.
3:19 I definitely want to troop build a few of these, as a 14" Sentinel for $23+ or so isn't bad. I already have x2 of the Marvel Legends Retro Sentinel figures and those guys are just 8" or so tall.
So they have figures for Cyclops, Storm and the Wolverine. I want X-Men ‘97 toys for Professor X, Nightcrawler, Iceman, Angel and Beast, please!

I was excited for these initially, but after seeing them was underwhelmed. They definitely suffer by comparison to other lines. Another unfortunate victim of the Disney license curse.
Doell has an interesting theory, that they have a budget for all Marvel, and they can only allocate so much to different lines.
Nightcrawler alluded me through my entire childhood. He was my favorite in the games too. Love the sentinel!

Can the Sentinel's head turn? My Sentinel head seemed stuck looking straight ahead and I didn't what to break it trying to turn it if it's fixed like that.
It's very stiff, but I was able to get it to move eventually

I really wanted Star Wars toys back in the 80's, but never had any. But I have no memory of Power of the Force 2. Though I was getting out of toys around then so I may not have been going to the toy isle much then, or just wasn't interested by then as I had last seen Star Wars in the late 80's when it came on TV during that big special they had. Though I did have a Star Wars N64 game.

Bought Wolverine, Rogue, and the X-Jet. My kiddos love them, but I would like to see the figures improve a little bit. They look great but lack wrists and ankles. Especially baffling with Fortnite figures having that articulation with a similar price point.
Also not a fan of the fact Gambit will only be available in a Target Only 5-pack which includes all the other already released figures. At least there will be doubles for all the effects and I get a Cyclops 🤷🏾♂️
Yeah, that's a crappy move putting Gambit in a multipack, at least pack him with another vehicle or something
@GeekDadLife a danger room playset would have been perfect to go with Gambit. I wouldn't even mind the re-packed figures if that was the case.

That Sentinel is really great for the price... heavier and more solid than I eXpected, and just a whole lot of fun to play with. I felt like a small child holding it...just me and my (fascist enforcer) buddy! 🤸
More like the greedy of Hasbro, because that sentinel is overpriced, Hasbro isn't about the fans anymore, this is a company about let's see how much the fans will pay.
