Back when R* taught us how to survive not to buy flying motorbikes
Word.
Back when R* wasn't greedy
2001 to 2013 was GTA's golden age. 3 was rough around the edges but it was the first of its kind. VC polished up 3 significantly and had a bonkers soundtrack. SA added a lot of cool features and made the complete 3D era experience. IV rebuilt every thing from the ground up with a darker storyline and insanely realistic gameplay. V felt like a mix of the 3D era games and IV by ditching some of the realism and having a bit more lighthearted storyline. At first Online was a nice expansion to V but with time it became a grindy mess with flying cars and a story that feels like the writers were on drugs while writing it. VI doesn't even exist yet, and *_IF_* it does and has been in development for all these years it will probably be the best game ever or something.

There hints that the game was setting during Fall time due to the clothing NPCs mostly wear being that of colder weather and all the foliage of the trees can be seen with a brown tinge to it. Along with many others hints like the cold breath of the NPCs and Niko.

Never understood the criticism for the colour palette of GTA 4. It wasn't supposed to be colourful. That's the point. Loving this track!
most 2008 games had that colour palette
Silent Hill Homecoming, Cod World at war...
Exactly! The Lost and the Damned also had orange and yellow colour pallete, while The Ballad of Gay Tony had more colorful/happy pallete.
Dark and gray colors suits Niko's story.
i love gta4's colour palette but i find it difficult to replay the story often
It was unnatural and ugly. The world doesn't become gray and washed out just because you're sad, depressed and/or facing some sad and difficult moments.
@@cloacky4409 Well first of all GTA is not a real life. Thats why artistic decisions and depictions are more than welcome to set the tone and mood of the game. The calm and silence of night, was therapeutic in a sense. No missions, no side quests, nothing. Just me, the bike, the night time setting and electro choc. If SA had that dark storytelling like 4 that be gorgeous
@@sunriseDPL4242 I agree!... But it doesn't have to be dark. It just has to be grounded. The missions revolving around the gsf were great, as it was a personal story. For me this song always captured the dark dystopian feeling of urban life, combined with Niko's inability to let go of his dark past.

1:05 that transition, perfectly synchronized with music is godlike
As if it wasn't depressing and hopeless enough as it was. You just brought the grim reality front and center.
God, remember picking up IV in 2008 for the first time and playing through the story? I had gotten a PS3 for Christmas the year before, and gen 7 games felt like real life. On PS2 ever game had a light-hearted feel and a cartoony look, similar to PS4, whereas PS3 games were all dark and gritty, almost as if GTA IV, Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, World at War and real life were all in the same universe.
