He was terminated for a variety of things. He has had the reputation of someone who excuses student truancy and misbehavior. Students saying, "Just talk to RO" had become a mantra that most teachers have heard on numerous occasions. This is one reason students like him so much; he and his brother have essentially eliminated consequences at the school. There is no dress code, and students can come and go from class with no fear of consequences. He also has had issues when it comes to documenting student misbehavior. All of this is documented in the allegations against him. Furthermore, he failed to fulfill his mandated reporter obligations when a teacher was accused of misconduct. Finally, he made a threatening call to the complainant and then denied ever having been on a call with the complainant: the complainant's phone records, however, proved that the call took place. What is more, he tried to delete the evidence off of his own phone. It should also be noted, that those who showed up for the board meeting were members of the school's Social Justice Academy, which would be more appropriately called a cult. Their leader urged the students to demand the Dr. Ro be reinstated even before they knew what the allegations were. If you watch a recording of the board meeting you can hear the brainwashing in most of their speeches. Many blamed Dr. Ro removal on "racist ass white teachers," even though the complainant was a black woman. Many of the students also threatened to go on a hunger strike. On this last point, it has to be noted that Dr. Ro had done nothing to dissuade students from harming themselves. In the myriad things he's done wrong this is an absolute dereliction of duty. Any adult in a position of authority with an ounce of dignity would have put this to rest and told the students that they were not coming back and to put any thought of selfharm out of their minds.

I had no idea he was fired until now that my sister mentioned it while picking her up from the high school. No wonder I haven’t seen the twins for a long time, they usually are outside in after school hours. I used to be a student until I graduated from San Leandro high a few years ago. I remember him being pretty cool and even gave me some courageous advice. I don’t recall anything shady about him. Is his twin brother resigned as well?

@reh3884 If you're not a Mercury News subscriber you can't read the whole article before it locks you out. I agree that some info should be in the video - or in writing in the show notes.
