They are referring to jam as in the fruit spread BUT it's also a play on words. Jjaemi means fun in korean. You'll notice they say jjaemi from time to time. Also, so glad you're back!
Welcome back!! Hope you're feeling better now. In JJAM (as in many of their songs) they used wordplay with similar-sounding words that have different meanings. JAM - as in jam out (dance / play hard) JAEM - Korean word for fun They ran with the wordplay and decided to use JAM , as in the sweet stuff you spread on toast, as their video concept. So that was already fun, but they added a slight horror aspect to the video as well, which is cool.
When I first got into kpop I would question the meaning of some of the songs. When I started to learn about Korean culture I realized that are actually really clever with word play. They also use a lot of Korean idioms in there songs as well. Hangul (the Korean alphabet) is phonetic. So when things are spelled the word can sound like another word. So they play with that. It is cool to how much fun they are having with songs. The "I know, you know, Lee Know" is a callback to another song. Tortoise and the Hair in the Go Life album. I'm glad you're doing much better. We all need a break to reset. Glad your back.
Glad you are doing good now. Welcome back. Don't worry about taking time for personal health. That's a bit more important than reactions. JJAM is about having fun with music, dance & song. JJAM was actually Changbin's way of getting enthused with song writing. He had been feeling burned out for a while & not having as much fun. This was his way of igniting his passion again.
@@GolyenHighway thank you for there kind words! Yes, the track did feel a lot more ‘loose’ and ‘fun’ if that makes sense? Just an all round good time 🖤
So sorry I missed the premiere, but glad you enjoyed it! This is also like a "jam session" between the different RACHAs (3Racha, DanceRacha and VocalRacha) and just sort of how they all mesh together. Can't wait to see what you have next, really happy you're feeling better and are back in the groove.
There's always so much hidden meaning in their lyrics I don't catch until I watch lyric breakdown videos. I heard JJAM was written to showcase the members talents. After "Sing" you get Seungmin and I.N (Vocal Racha), after "Dance" you get Felix, Hyunjin and Lee Know (Dance Racha), after "Rap" you get HAN, Changbin, and BangChan (3Racha). After I learned that I had to re-watch the whole video. (Side note, Id be interested to see you react to a breakdown video for any song that explains the lyric breakdowns, also welcome back! Ive been impatiently waiting hahaha)
@@catdunbar I will definitely put that on my list of things to do! Got some big plans 😝 you definitely get a really good cross section of their talents in this track you are absolutely right! 🖤
Naw, genuine reaction is always superior so take all the time you need. I'm here for your opinion & thoughts - whatever they may be so I'm glad you're feeling skz again. Thanks for reacting 😁.
On the horror element-- If you watch the main trailer to the Oddinary album (their album trailers are like short movies), it was done in the horror theme. Their song Maniac was the title track, and the scenes from the album trailer kind of let you know what the concept was. You should check it out.
I've missed your journey!! Hope you're doing well and that life is treating you nicely. I saw you'd been working on some new music, but hadn't seen it drop anywhere yet.
I enjoyed your reactions & welcome back nice and healthy. Be sure to watch the ATE Intro MVs behind the screen - it will answer a lot of your questions help you catch on things. There is a lot of lore, theories roaming around Stayville about this track... but one of the rats eating the mutant sentient jam became the origin story of Master Splinter from Teenager Mutant Ninja Turtles... or maybe the giant rat mascot from the Japanese SKZ Super Bowl MV. or a Goosebump story where you see the 'horror' with mad scientists SKZ creating JJam that became sentient and infected them causing them to glitch and jam like crazy.. also did you catch 5:55 when Lee Know was stressing over not having his morning donut jam, while searching in the box, behind him, his shadow gets shot! but he doesn't Lee know??!! - And I love finding out from our Korean Stay that if they tell you the "you GOT no jam", it basically means "you are no fun'!! Well that's me in a nutshell. "Jaem" (sounds like Jam) is Korean for fun. And "dori dori jam jam" is a common phrase used on babies to encourage them to shake and move. And of course Jam, the spread, as a metaphor for a sticky attractive force, like what attract them to each other and others to them! AND watch the title track Chk Chk Boom plus the bts MV. and the OST called Slash.[banger]🖖🏽
You asked about that floating thing behind. It's an industrial size jam kettle. You can see it more clearly in the video which tells how they did this MV.
Lovely to see you back. Good to hear you were looking after yourself and are on the up and up. You’ve missed a lot since they dropped their new album ATE on 19 July! In the lead up to that they did 3 festivals as well - iDays Milan, BST Hyde Park and Lollapalooza Chicago. ATE is still charting with title track CHK CHK BOOM breaking records. They also dropped an original song for the Deadpool soundtrack called Slash. Hope you get to listen to these when you get a chance. It has also been a special time for Stay as they re-signed their contracts to continue with JYPE. It’s definitely given them a new lease on life and in their creativity.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I wanted to see them at Hyde Park but just couldn’t afford it sadly - next time though I will catch them 💯- I will definitely record some reactions to the album too!

We have both jam and jelly here. Jam is probably the same as you have, and jelly is more jello textured. I'm pretty sure it has gelatin in it. Lol
