  • Here is my Old Works Van I Converted, i've never done this before so something may not be the best way but it's the way I did it, I had my Helper Noah my youngest Son and now and then your see Ollie my eldest pop in and out its been fun spending about 1-2 hrs after work most days working on her..
1st I had to remove all the old work decos with a hot air gun many a burnt finger,
2nd Cut out the Windows and bonded them in
3rd onto a light layer of insulation and the trim in side from cutting the plywood removing the bulkhead trim fixed all the carpet lining
4th down with the flooring carpet
5th making the Box to carry my Magic Mirror Photo Booth when i need it
6th installing the back seat for the kids this was just a front passenger seat with matching trim
then to fin black the trim and rosa polish it all over!
I got my Van 1st as my Works Van back in 2012 with only 16,000 miles on the clock and I had her for the next 6ish years till 116,000 miles then when the Company got a new Van for me i decided to buy it from Work and set about turning her into my "part" Photography Van to carry my Photo Booth in the back and box's of props and the rest of the van for the Family,

The most enjoyable effect of your own work and the fact that you can do it. I also built a motorhome based on the Renault Trafic L2-H2 van

I have a Vivaro which I converted and the van is fantastic, far better than the VW range. If I did it again I would only put a window in the door and get it done by a fitter, it isn't worth the money saved. Mine is not a high top, I can see the attraction, but at under 2m I can get in car parks and cheaper road tolls in France. But yes, a super job you have done, everything right. I have had my 2008 Vivaro 6 years now and it will see me out, no need to change, that timing chain engine and 6 speed box is just a perfect combo.
What about the rest..come on the kids are waiting.

Excellent article. I regularly visit Manheim Auctions in Gloucester and they use steam wallpaper strippers to remove logos and wraps from vehicles.

What material did you use to glue the sheet metal and the boards?
Is this some sort of floor covering?

Usually, its right to begin with the seal from above because the water accumulates at the bottom. But in your case, the water accumulates at the top, at the bottom it can drain . So it would be wisely to begin from the side with the rubber seal. I wish you luck and the window is sealed.

Well done mate , what was the insulation you put on and did you find it good enough to do the job as it looked a little on the thin side . I also saw you never bothered with a vapour barrier .

    • @jonathanpgreen
      @jonathanpgreen  Před 5 lety +2

It's was 2inc poly fiber it's not for a camper just Simi work / day van so more just to take the edge and road noise as you don't get any insulation in a car panel this did the job nice

That seems like a convenient way to insulate.
Is there anything that you might have done differently in hindsight? How did the part go when you lifted those side panels into place with the carpet stuck on to them?
