A tip for clothing, if you're planning on a multi-day trip with little or no opportunities to shower in between, I recommend natural fibres like cotton. They will be best for minimising odour, compared to synthetic fibres. Maybe not as big a problem when overlanding, but could be when multi-day hiking.
You’re not wrong. Natural fibers will help with odor a lot better. I usually just bring one shirt per day but if you are using it multiple days then maybe it’s not a good idea to use synthetic.
I have wool t shirts that can literally be worn for days if you hang them up to air out. Also Kuhl makes shirts with silver ionic thread that kills bacteria so they don’t stink either.
Love this. I generally hate camping in the summer. It’s super humid where I live so I generally fall and winter. With some of this stuff, I might be able to stretch my season.
Yeah I typically enjoy fall the most camping but they close the gates to so many trails so early in the fall that a lot of trails go away. Growing up in NC the summers you had to go to the mountains and even then it was a bit too warm sometimes.
Interesting, summer camping in the MTNs, I do summer coming in the desert, Mojave, Colorado deserts. Keep plenty of water & Pedialyte light cotton clothing, really don't need all that stuff, just use what you have. Been doing it for 45 years ..
It’s not a list of everything you need, just things you might need based on where you live. I’ve camped in heat and humidity since I was a little kid, just sharing some items I’ve learned over the years. Technically you don’t even need a tent to camp but obviously I’m going to suggest it.
I was listening until you said you were in Colorado. Ok, I live in Tennessee and there is no altitude that is comfortable this time of year. It is hot an humid right now. No camping until the humidity comes down below 75% and the temperature gets under 80 degrees at night. We don't have burn bans because at LBL (Land Between the Lakes) you usually get a thunderstorm in the afternoon which makes everything muddy and the humidity go up to 95% after that. Kentucky lake temperature is in the 80's so it's great for cooking. October we can all pile in again. Oh and you would need about 100,000 of those mosquito things to keep them off of you. LOL!
I get you, I grew up in north Carolina and went to school in the absolute swamp of the eastern Carolina’s. The mosquitoes are brutal and the humidity is no joke.
Yes so you know then. Obviously I was joking but I liked your video so I subscribed. We can camp all winter here for the most part so when the highs are in the lower 80's it gets in the 60's at night. It's apple and oranges depending on where you live. I hate this hot stuff and stay inside which drives me crazy. Patients is required right now.
@@jeffmorris739 I actually mostly moved out here because of the heat. Was living in charlotte driving to work and even with the AC in my car on my button up had a huge wet spot on the back of it and I had a presentation that day. Sort of the first step to moving out here. I do miss the Appalachian mountain weather though; If there were good jobs in Asheville/ Knoxville in my field I would have stayed out that way. NC/SC/TN/VA is so beautiful and still affordable (kinda).
That Ignik fire pit is a game changer. I recently got the deluxe version and tested it out for the first time this past weekend. It was nice not having to worry about scrounging for wood when I found my camp sites or paying the inflated prices near national forests for a few bundles. I was actually using it in chaffee county Colorado. I didn't see any burn ban signs where I was but is the forest service okay with us using propane fire pits during a normal burn ban?
That’s awesome! I’ll have to get one if I ever get around to some east coast camping again. Maybe I’ll fly back to NC to see my parents and try it lol.
Hey Jason, how many hours are you getting comfortably on the fire pit with your 5 lb tank ? I am ordering one tomorrow, but I can't decide if I should upgrade to their dope pro x one with the black case that is a 10 lb tank or if you think the 5 we have now is already good enough
I only ever use it on medium to low flame but I haven’t run out of it in a few trips yet. They claim that with the 5lb tank at full blast you get 2 1/2 hours and on low you get 4hrs. I don’t really see how that’s possible, I would have imagined more than that but maybe I only run it like an hour or less a night.
They don’t print it hardly anywhere but I found it online, it’s called the Eddie Bauer guide shirt but apparently it’s on clearance everywhere in certain colors.
If i give you a $700 discount on a Dometic cooler, can you create a nice review video and pretend like it's an item that you just recently discovered? (similar to the car compact jumpstarter pack video you made)
Hey I don’t blame you, I was on your side maybe two years ago. Then I tried a pair on and I was sold. Aesthetically I get it but in terms of camp comfort I’m team crocs on this one.
Xero shoes makes hiking sandals that are much thinner and lighter than chacos personal preference they are as durable and generally cost less. They are minimalist, so they take a little getting used to if your hiking gear of choice is heavy thick soles. Ztrails are the ones you would like if your a Chaco fan they are from Boulder, Co. and can be found for sale several times a year In the $39-59 range which s when I buy them.
Links in description! What else do y’all have for suggestions?
I couldn't get the fire ban map link to work, what site do you use?

Me: currently in the desert 🏜 wishing I had that portable AC!
Yeah I’m sure a portable AC would be nice there

Swapped out my ball cap for a safari hat during summer. Better sun protection for my ears and neck.
That’s a good one. The back of my neck is always the first thing to get burned.
Nice review. 👍🏻
Thanks!
Thanks for all the tips!!! Happy Camping!
Thanks so much! Happy Camping!
Thanks for doing that I haven't run into anybody else that's Donna Summer one I appreciate that a lot
Thanks for this. Just finished changing some suspension things on my gmt 800 and getting ready to take it out this summer
Gmt800 as in the chassis for the Silverado/Suburban?
@@OXFOOT yes, but I have an 05 AWD Escalade. I know it's not 4x4 but it gets me to all the campgrounds and is good on dirt roads.
This was helpful, thanks! What is the name of the window rack inside your vehicle, holding the paper towel?
It’s the victory 4x4 window molle panel. They usually are put in both windows but I only needed one. Now I’m thinking I might get another.
I've built my own ammo can fire pit that is fire ban legal. Super easy for you DIY'ers out there.
Yeah I used to DIY so much more stuff but CZcams sort of took over and I don’t have time for projects anymore lol.

Hey there. Thanks for sharing. Any recommendations for a drawer system for a 4Runner?
I have peak to peak but I don’t know what happened, they just disappeared offline like a week ago. Dobinsons and arb both make a pretty good one.
Was that a 1 or 2 person blanket you were holding? Thanks.
nevermind. You mentioned it in the video. 🙂
Yeah I really love it
what battery are you using to run the fridge and/or air conditioner?
I’ve got the ecoflow delta max. With the AC it also has a 1008 watt power attached to it.

Is the eco flow dedicated to the fridge and how long can you go without recharging?
Hi n the fire pit looks like if u add a grate u can cook off of it. Did u try that yet? thks rox
I haven’t tried this but that’s not a bad idea. I’ll see if I can fit one to cook with.

Comical how much videos like this make people think they need all this expensive crap to camp
You don’t need any of this tbh. I’ve got budget videos talking about that. And also just get a sleeping bag and some water and that’s all you need.
