Can you add some suggestions and direction about how to improve over these tracks. Some tracks I can nail it and others I'm just lost.
This is vi-V-i in D minor repeated. If you think of a scale using the notes of the three chords, you end up with something like: D E F G A Bb C C#. So you’ve got D natural minor with one additional note: the C#, which belongs to the A7 chord. So I would suggest working with D minor pentatonic and D natural minor, but focus on working that C# in there in the right places. 😁
You have to listen to others who improvise over this kind of rhythm.
For example: Tom Misch. Try not to think in notes.
