I remember hearing Babymetal for the first time in 2011 or 2012 thinking they were ridiculous. Here I am almost 12 years later admiring and loving them. Extremely talented girls and band.

It might be about fighting their inner demons (with help from the Fox God) and how they are leaving the traditional Japanese music industry behind. Some of the imagery can be how metal music is seen as being dark but it allows you to be yourself, while traditional J-Pop is seen as more pure but in reality is like a machine just turning out stars.

Agreed! I feel so sorry for those that have been conditioned into a tiny mindset of musical acceptance. There is so much in the musical universe to be experienced and enjoyed that limiting one's self to a microcosm of that universe is basically a self-imposed disability. Growth, change, and evolution of music is an inevitability and to deny and fight against such is painfully futile. I am also so sorry to see a few people (not many as you allude to if you consider the overall sampling of "like to dislike" ratio of this video which puts the likes at around 96%) that are so lacking in their ability to grow and accept change. Those people are really not music fans: they are sheep herded into a corral of minute thinking.

This was the very first Babymetal song, video I heard. I thought I was going to hate them. I did not even know they were Japanese until I saw this video. I just remember some metal people ragging on "Babymetal". I watched this video the first time and I thought to myself, "this was not bad, the song was kind of cool, the lead singer seemed to have some pipes". Then I watched as second time and I thought, "this is actually good, I really like this". Then I watched some more of their videos and they do what Babymetal does, steal your soul with awesome metal.

Ironic that a death metal band with skeletons in the video is substantially more wholesome and uplifting (3:15) than a great majority of pop and hip hop videos. Kudos all around. Seeing them perform it live, in the rain, before many tens of thousands of adoring fans in England is something truly breathtaking.

How can any metalheads hate Babymetal? I think they're great, and I normally don't even like metal music.
Some people just have a certain mind set about what metal is or should be and anything that challenges that perception sets them off. Me, I've been a metalhead since the 80's, got stuck in a rut, wasn't liking anything new I listened to and Babymetal was just the shot in the arm I needed. I'll never stop loving it.
tskwerl I heard that Rob Zombie loves them too, and his fans got all bent out of shape over his declaration that they're good. He told off his fans basically saying "you're allowed to like more than one kind of music".
A lot of the big names in metal support them. The thing with this band is this; you can't just listen to one song, have that first WTF is this knee-jerk reaction and turn your back on them. Because you don't know what the band is about then. You think you do, but you don't. I think it was Moa who said in an interview one time... the first album is like their business card. Just saying, "Here's what we can do." The second album goes deeper into different metal genres. The Kami Band is incredible and I'd put them up against any band performing live today. I haven't seen another band so precise and tight live. I doubt there is one.

before this video came out i never heard of BabyMetal, and then went to go see them perform live in NYC and i was just blown away with not only how good they performed but how adorable they all looked. definitely a lifetime experience if you haven't seen BabyMetal live i suggest you do, seriously good stuff.

The best and genious thing about BabyMetal is because they are cute japanese girls using their real child voices and dancing, they are lucky girls having so much fun doing this. And because the musicians playing behind are Amazing. If BabyMetal was another guy screaming this band will not be a big thing. Some people don´t take babymetal serious because they are children singing . Who cares about their age, everyone was a child in the past. And most of people at their age never have the chance to doing something like this. So enjoy this, open your minds and have fun, they are awesome!

***** I have to beg to differ, with no offense remotely intended. Babymetal was conceived for all three. I will concede the fact that Suzuka's talents would have taken her to success alone. Yet, Babymetal would never have achieved the success they currently are having without Yui and Moa complimenting Su. It is the combination of all three that makes Babymetal the true refreshing and unique experience that they are.
the wierd thing is the lead singer is 18 now and the other 2 are 16, they arent actually that young (well i guess they were when they started, 14, 12 and 12 if i remember right, somewhere areound there) they are just very petite girls with pop voices wich they combine with moametal, the band that plays with them, who are freaking awesome as well. So anyone who has a problem with it needs to just chill out.

im tearing up to see babymetal can make huge impact outside japan.
I use to look at new branches in the metal genre the same way you do...now , i'm more open minded , cause regardless of how they tell their story to the listener , atleast they play it in a style i understand and can relate to. and to be honest ,, they are the best thing to come from japan as far as music , that i have ever heard....thats just my opinion though.
you have no idea......these girls are a global phenomenon ....and they came out with a unique sound that takes people by suprise ....they';re going to go far.

Clearly a trend here.. I'm 53, in I.T. and absolutely love this band! This clip, the production, the song, the Kami band, the girls performances are all perfection! I'm in Australia and flew to Japan last year specifically to see the final concerts at the Tokyo Dome. Unbelievable!
