I have been looking to buy a beginner budget airbrush but have been getting so confused! This is the best, most informative review i have ever seen - thank you for sharing it 👏
I think this airbrush is actually okay and not that bad tho. I did some full paint video using this airbrush and the result is actually good czcams.com/video/UYDzzcDcbjo/video.html . Starting to learn how to paint/airbrush my robot models and am looking for something compact like this. But I live in a condominium so a big compressor isn't really on the table due to how noisy they are- I don't really have a very sound insulated workspace and I don't want to really risk disturbing the people next to and above me. How loud is this one in your opinion? You can compare it to other household appliances like a vacuum if that's easier. I can't quite gauge it from your otherwise incredibly informative demonstration. I might try to track one of these down depending on that factor.
Firstly, it's kinda hard for me to answer your question because it's quite general about how loud does this mini compressor made. What I can say is, for sure this mini compressor will be more silent than the big compressor but in my opinion, this mini compressor is loud as a hairdryer I think but still, you can reduce the loudness by placing this mini air compressor on a solid surface and put it inside a box. This is what I usually do when I'm working during a midnight hour and it's working.
@@asmrbuildtv About as loud as a hairdryer gives me enough of an idea of what it sounds like. Thank you very much for the feedback that was incredibly helpful.
I hope you see this, ASMR builds. The Airbrush and Compressor look good, but how do they hold up for long-term use, how did yours hold up? I have some money now if I buy this KKmoon one I will have some for paint and other tools, or should I just save up and buy one of the bigger air Compressors?
I recommend to get the bigger one. This small AB set might be cheap, budget and good for starter but this small airbrush set cant use for a really long hour straight which can cause overheating issue. Other than that, the piston ring inside the compressor can be broken someday and it’s really hard to find the replacement for this small size. Mine already cant be use due to its piston ring started to worn out. So I bought the bigger one after that.
How long did this break on you? Planning to buy one as well. Thanks
Hi there. Usually after a 30 minutes of painting, I’ll put them to rest for 10 minutes to avoid overheating.
How many eggs have the hens laid ?
Hi, any update on how the airbrush still doing?
Hi there, the airbrush is still doing good, but I'm really advice don't forget to clean the airbrush after use. If not, the nozzle inside the airbrush will be stuck and it going to be hard to fix.
Planning to get this as my first airbrush. Do you think this may also work for diecasts customizing like Hot Wheels and for customizing sneakers?
Yes this would work for customizing hot wheels and sneakers as long as you know how to control the airbrush. However this is just a small airbrush, using it in long hour might not be so convenient as the motor can get overheat
At 4:04 my machine has an extra part attached between the air brush and the clear container. Any thoughts if i remove it or use it? I can't seem to tighten it with it. Thanks.
Hi there : ) I'm sorry for the late reply but honestly, I don't have any idea what kind of extra part you mean. But basically, you can just use the airbrush without all those extra parts including this filter (the clear container). So, I think it's not necessary to use that extra parts and you can remove it since it's not really tight as you said so just leave it the airbrush gun with the filter and the air hose.
oh, one more thing, the filter (the clear container) is quite important because it helps to make sure the air that gets into the airbrush gun is clean without any dust. So the paint will not easily get clogged or it is for a good and smooth painting surface result.
@@asmrbuildtv you are so informative and I am very grateful for your detailed reply. I did start using it without the extra part and it works great! I am working on getting the right consistency of the paint and reducing splatter marks. I need to pratice more but overall loving this machine. Thanks again!
@@naillover8036 its actually called "moisture trap" because the air will create condensation, and will form water particles which will spoil your paint job, so that will trap all the water droplet before it travel through your airbrush and mix with your paint.

❤️the vid and u could've use primer.
Hi! Some say its good to buy a compressor with tank rather than small device compressor because the durability issue and quality? And compressors are good for long run. May I ask ur opinion?
Yes. If you have a budget, I would suggest you take get the air compressor with tank. I’m now also using the air compressor tank type because it’s more practical and durable in long term use. The air compressor with tank can deliver more air with different pressure and the air is much more stronger. Last but not least, the spare parts are much easier to find compare to the mini air compressor.
@@asmrbuildtv May I ask, I've already purchase a compressor(9L Mitsushi). So aside from the airbrush what else should I buy?
The airbrush cleaning pot and cleaning brush. This item also important to keep your airbrush in good condition.
Just wanted to ask that how much is your thinning ratio for this kind of low power compressor
1 paint : 1 and slightly more thinner. I show how I thin my paint here in this video czcams.com/video/DPw7dKEndss/video.html&si=8NSGaW2vDo94sTLo
question , do you apply any undercoat like primer before putting the colour on ? thx in advance...
Farith Hazard because this is a quick video, plus I used the colour (tire black) which is darker than the original part colour (orange and white in the video), so I don’t use any primer or surfacer. But if you want to have a better result and for smooth colour surface, do use primer or surfacer. I usually use the primer on part that been sandpapered or on part that with darker colour that I wanted to change it to bright colour. Example, original part colour is black and you wanted to make it orange, do primer first, and then only use orange colour. If you don’t do primer for this case, the orange colour will not really can be seen.
this depends on how much budget do you have but still you can paint directly without getting undercoat like the primer
and without primer, the surface will become more like original feel from the plastic
Hi can i use usual Thinner at DIY shop to replaced the mrhobby thinner that is expensive to me..
Hi there 👋🏻 Yes actually you can but the result is not as smooth as the mr hobby levelling thinner. I ever experiment on that and yes you can use it 👍🏻
How long can you use it before over heating?
I'm not sure, but I've been use this for a really long hours of painting but it didn't show me any sign of over heating yet. But I'll turn off the compressor when no in use.
I couldn’t see it well. Does the paint look grainy or lumpy or is it smooth?
The paint condition is depend on the paint mixing ratio. In this video, the paint turned out smoothly after it completely dried.
Did u use X20 thinner ro erase the excess laquer paint?
I didn’t use any lacquer paint. X20 Enamel thinner is only can be use for enamel paint if I’m not mistaken.
Your explanation is good about using this compressor..
But i thought ur spray technic is wrong.. No primer, those part must be separate first, and keep the distance when u spray
I still remember those day was my first time learning to do airbrush. It was pretty hard. So I keep on practicing till now
Hi. Can i use 2k lacquer with this? Any tips? Thanks in advance
Hello there. I’m sorry because I’m not too sure about that. I never experience with 2k lacquer paint before on this but I think it should work fine as long as the paint ratio is correct.
A question with what mixtures the po tura and what kind of Painting is already buy my aerograph,
Honestly I still don’t really get the question. Did you mean what kind of paint and the thinner that I use?
Basically you can use all type of paint when doing airbrushing as long as the thinner is correct and good in ratio. In this video I’m using Mr Color Basic paint with Mr Levelling thinner. By the way, where are you from sir?
You’re like woody’s Restaurator
Does it work on pre-thinned paints?
No. I don’t think it will work with pre-thinned paint since you need to have a correct ratio to make the paint flow smoothly from the airbrush gun. Also to prevent the clogged issue.
Hi, do you use a thinner or a water to clean the gun?
I use both. Since I’m mostly using thinner based paint so I’m using thinner to clean the airbrush. But if you use the airbrush for normal water based paint, you can use only water.
How's your airbrush now is still in good working condition? I'm planning to get one but I'm skeptical please clear my doubt hehe
Unfortunately I don’t use this airbrush anymore. It’s because the piston ring inside the air compressor started to worn out and it’s really hard to find the replacement. If I could find the replacement, I’m going to use this as usual.
@@asmrbuildtv Sorry to hear that but you must have a good times with it and every second of painting must have enjoyable. Perhaps, I should go to high end compressor even though its expensive. Thanks
Btw, if you’re looking for a bigger air compressor, I just change to this czcams.com/video/BOjHETFb8p8/video.html This air compressor (big type) is pretty cheap with good function and design. I hope you like it.
Can I use the paint in shfiguarts dbz? And what paint should I use?(beginner)
Renante Tag-at Yes you can. The best paint I can recommend is mr color, with mr hobby thinner/levelling thinner by referring to its colour guideline on its manual. Here is the mr color chart availability
www.ipmsstockholm.se/home/urbans-colour-reference-charts-part-ii/urbans-colour-reference-charts-gunze-sangyo-mr-color-map/
Renante Tag-at moreover, I don’t know what model of dbz you have so I can’t really recommend what specific colour coding you need
WHICH kkmoon airbrush is this? the Kkmoon brand has heaps of different models. a model number would be nice
Hi there. I’m really sorry but I can’t find any info about it. There’s no specific model number or its model name for this airbrush kit.
@@asmrbuildtv after carefully looking at the video images of your paintbrush, and comparing them to pictures from Kkmoon, you appear to have an E3535.
i suggest you make a note of that on the storage box, be because you will want to know when it comes time to buy a replacement o-rings.
can you use this for highlights and shadows?
Yes actually you can use this for highlight, shadow and gradient but I’m not sure how good it would be since I never try doing that because I’m more into simple painting of plastic modelling. Maybe one day I could try it out.
How long can you use it before you let the compressor rest?
Mirage I recommend to use it about 15 - 20 minutes, and let the compressor rest from overheating
Is this good enough for military modelling? Like tank models and its camouflage patterns.
This mini airbrush in my opinion is actually good as long as you know how to use it properly. You will get used to it after spending a long time practicing and experimenting. Remember, the ratio must be correct.
Is it chargeable or you need to use cord to power the mini compressor?
No it’s not rechargeable. You need to plug in the cord to use the airbrush.
No it’s not rechargeable. You need to plug in the cord to use the airbrush.
Mine just suddenly had weak airflow. Anyone have the same problem?
The weak air flow might caused by a worn out rubber piston ring inside the air compressor.
No, usually around 3-5 months. But It’s will be sudden happens when you keep using it for straight hours of painting. Usually for mini airbrush compressor you can’t use it for long hours to prevent overheating problem.
I worried about it's durability. What do you think?
after 3 months of using, I can say the compressor is just fine and good 👍 but my advice is don't use it for a long hour straight, let it rest too to prevent overheating. The airbrush gun, you need to always make sure it is in clean condition before store it. This is a 0.3mm airbrush needle, so it easily gets clogged when you didn't wash the remaining paint inside it. One more thing is the airbrush gun, be careful with the needle tip, once it gets to bend, you need to replace it or else the paint will not come out.
@@asmrbuildtv thanks, i need more compact replacement for my bulky air compressor. i usually paint for 3-4 hours
Can the knob on the air compressor actually change the air pressure output?
Yes. It is between 25-30 psi. Not much compared to tank air compressor but this is not bad for small modelling project.
@@asmrbuildtv I also have a mini air compressor like that. I don't know why but I can't paint the model as close as you, it always create a pool of water on the part. Do you know what's the problem? Maybe the pressure too high? Paint too thin? Since mine cannot change the psi, do you have any solution to help me?
might be cause by 2 things, 1 needle or nozzle condition. Make sure both of it are clean. 2 is because something wrong with the paint ratio or paint mixing.
air pressure also play the role but since you can’t change the psi, I think those 2 issues might be the factor.
Is this air brush compressor good for beginners?
Yes this is a really good airbrush for beginner. You can try this before getting a large compressor.
Hallo all , can you give me another recomendation thanks?
Hi actually I don’t use this one already since I upgraded to a bigger compressor now. Yes that one also can but I prefer to use airbrush because it save more cost. Other than that, using spray can type can be hard to control for small parts.
do you need to change compressors?
umm what do you mean need to change compressor? @_@ the compressor is already there
Id spend a bit more on a better quality kit, to be honest, not complete junk like the old Testors airbrush kit. but I could see it being worth $25.
I don't know what is the Testor airbrush at the beginning but I just watched some of the videos about it and what I can say is, I don't really prefer that kind of airbrush for my modeling because it's mostly hard to control the paint pressure. I've been used this mini airbrush for almost 4 months now and I think this airbrush is actually really good for beginner to start and learn. But I really hope that I could buy the Iwata/Tamiya airbrush someday so I can learn what their differences. But sure it will cost a lot. How long do you use the airbrush till it starts heating up?
For this mini airbrush set I normally use around 15-30 minutes when spraying with 5-10 minutes rest in between.
man is that really dual action?
yes this is a dual action airbrush because you can control the air flow from the compressor by pressing or release the toggle down.

@@asmrbuildtv I am using water based acrylic paint. What ratio would you recommend? I use 4012 by Createx Colors. Thanks in advance.
@@naillover8036 I never use that paint so I don’t really know the exact ratio for that but what I can say is the final mixture of the paint must look like a milk texture. Which is not too thick and not too thin. If your paint mixture wont come out from the airbrush, that’s might mean the paint mixture is too thick. So simply add more water (for your case since I mostly use thinner) and try again. If the paint mixture is out like a melting water on the part’s surface that’s mean you need to add more paint in the mixture.
