Abbie Eaton gets back into a racecar for the first time since breaking her back

- We filmed with Abbie Eaton towards the end of last year, only a couple of weeks after she suffered a broken back due to a sausage kerb while racing in W Series in Austin. After a tough few months of rehab, she is back fighting fit and ready to put her helmet back on for 2022. Mike Fernie ventured down to Bedford Autodrome to have a chat with Abbie and watch her in action for the first time since her horrible accident.

The amount of times throughout this day of filming that I thought "GO ON ABBIE" as she completed another lap. So great to have her back in the game.

How do you know what her back loves to do ?
Absolutely brilliant to see her back behind the wheel! I know that The Grand Tour TV show has sort of gone away as a series, but the guys need to get her involved in every special they make, she adds so much to the show when she's there. Putting her in that rust-bucket of a Renault to see if she could be caught simply made my day.
My wish is that she takes part in one of their trips

Thank you so much for this update!!!!! She is an amazing human by all accounts from those around her. Meeting her and doing a lap with her is one of my bucket list items one day. So happy to see her back to doing what she loves.
Ms. Eaton I can emphasize with coming back from such an injury. I had my neck broken at c3, c5, c6 now fused from c3-c7, fused from L4-s1, and second Traumatic Brain Injury. It's great to see you back driving.
Way to go Abbie!! Really powered through the recovery - lets hope that is the last time you ever need to go through something like that. Best of luck with the season!

Such an inspirational story about overcoming terrible odds. Go Abby! It’s so easy in this world to get knocked down and stay down, but it speaks volumes about who you are when you get back up, and how you get back up! I have two young daughters and my hopes for them is to be as strong as Abbie when they get older. Abby is An amazing story about overcoming tough odds and is even more of an amazing human for pushing through those odds and getting back in the seat and chasing her dreams. Such a great episode! Thank you for making this!

Abbie is a badass. I busted my leg five months ago, and it still hurts. Handling crazy Gs on a track with a recently-broken spine... I shall never complain about physical discomfort ever again.

I'm really glad to hear that. I saw her go flying up in the air right in front of me in Austin and immediately new whoever was in that car was going to be seriously injured. I saw the other incident with another driver in another race that weekend who had similar injuries also. Those curbs were a serious danger.
