Ramit - your book and Psychology of Money changed my life substantially! I read them both two years go and I've grown my networth to 100k before 30! Its made me a person who used to see myself as "bad at money" to someone who is confident/living my rich life!

The Psychology of Money absolutely changed the way I thought about money and behaviors towards money. Also Morgan Housel the author has a podcast where he doubles down and adds more topics from his book.
Good book. Especially helpful because it teaches you about psychology of greed and psychology generally, but in a practical away.

“Your Money or Your Life” by Vicki Robin and Joe Dominguez is by far my favorite finance book. Amazingly written and really reframes what money is

Love this. I just purchased Jennifer Risher's "We Need To Talk: A Memoir About Wealth" after watching this. I'd imagine that it takes real courage as an author to approach such a subject to pot'l scorn of peers and...well, everyone else. I'm stoked to read it.
I hope some day, we'll read something in this vein from Ramit and would even wager that will eventually happen. I feel that he has a unique perspective & vantage point born out of his work / life: Netflix, podcast helping couples, and the snippets he's shared on his own experiences (transition into marriage). If he tackled a viewpoint on psychology geared towards couples on finance within relationships, would be an instant buy for me (and I doubt I'm the only one).
i hope some day people like Ramit Sethi and Jennifer Risher come to understand that welfare and minimum wage hurt the economy more that they help. I feel that a lot of Personal Finance experts just don't understand the basic principles behind free-market capitalism since they blindly cheer for progressive income taxes instead of a flat tax rate. Increasing taxes on the wealth will never solve inequality or poverty.

I've been reading so many books. According to my Kindle, I'm about 70% of the way through your book right now. But I'm honestly really surprised you didn't mention The Simple Path to Wealth by JL Collins. I think that book is the absolute best for financially illiterate people to start with. It's the only reason I gained an interest in investing at all and based on what I see other people saying on various forums, seems to the go to recommendation for most. Collins' recent book, Pathfinders, is not as good but if anyone here is like me and is scared to start and does way too much researching and not enough doing, is a must read in my opinion because it's just a huge collection of stories of people going from 0 to rich in various ways. It's at least given me the confidence to begin.

Save the best for last! I’ve read Ramit’s book cover to cover twice already and successfully convinced many of my friends to get one of their own (after letting them have a preview of mine of course), I even bought one for my sister. Out of all the finance books I’ve read, this is and will probably always be my favorite (unless of course a new and improved version gets released.)
I’m a bit of a personal finance nerd and I was very happy to see some books on this list that I haven’t read, particularly ones that talk about wealth at a higher, almost philosophical level. Yeah, the tactics and math are great and all - but I personally just don’t need to read another chapter about the 4% rule. Thanks, Ramit!

Dave and Ramit's recommendations and money philosophies are very different.
Dave's is all about paying off your debt and living frugally while Ramit's philosophy is about automatic your finances, living your rich life by spending extravagantly on the things you love while cutting costs mercilessly on the things you don't.
I have read the Bogleheads, The Psychology of Money, and Ramith's book but a friend still recommended me to read Dave's Ramsey's Total Money Makeover and I did and don't regret it. I love all 4 books. It shows a different perspective even though I don't agree with no credit cards as I like to use then in my favor and 15 year mortgages I still liked it and don't regret it, but agree they have different philosophies. @excitedaboutlearning1639
Richest man in Babylon is a great book but the psychology of money is a better new age version. I do like the old stories metaphorically though in Richest Man in Babylon I think there is some subjects in that book that are not covered in others. Great list though Ramit!

Buying a house like that won't happen with any ordinary salary. Those houses are better calculated by a % of net worth. As a starting point, consider ~20% of net worth for a primary residence.
The best book I have read about money was “The Millionaire Fastlane”

Can you consider doing a video regarding when it's best to pay off student loans, taking into consideration the borrowers age and the loan interest rates?
A family member of mine has government student loans. Some are higher interest (6.8%) and others are lower (3.5%). They're in their 20's, so it's hard to figure out if it's best to pay them off and just "get rid of them", or stick some of that money in the market and watch it compound (since time is on their side given their only in their 20's). I've been trying to get in contact with you to make a video like this for a while, but have been unsuccessful. I think it would do really well on your channel!

So true about not seeing class until you meet the family. My kids didn't grow up around my family. When they got to meet them all as adults they just looked at me wide eyed and said "Mom....wow." Yup. When I said I came from a poverty mindset they didn't understand it until they saw it for themselves.

I'm in my mid 50's and not sure if it's worth me starting to invest money. I am planning to retire in about 3 years and will be using my savings and pension (not huge) to live off. Can anyone advise if it's likely I will see sufficient returns within a 5-10 year period?

I want to read a book where a minimum wage worker ends up financially free before 50. I did it but I cannot find a book that describes similar journey. Most are about tech, finance workers, or maybe a teacher.
I don't have a favorite book unfortunately. There's too much repeating in those books in order to appeal to the regular middle class worker who is the book buyer.
I never had a 401k offered at any jobs in 28 years. I never worked a job where I had a contract. Most middle class workers find it a norm. Not norm for me which meant extra challenges at work like unpaid training and wage theft. I have two zeros in my SS even though I worked full time the two years. Would not have happened to a worker with a contract.
I still keep reading the books but I wish there was more unorthodox ways of getting to financially freedom and I don't mean winning the lottery or even crypto.

About the minimum wage needing to be higher.....for what it is worth.....here is my personal observation: If you have a full time job and cannot afford a place to live and pay for a car and insurance and have a savings account, there is little point to employment, right?

Medium wage needs to be higher, and inflation needs to be as close to zero as practical
No books "make" you rich. At best, they expand your thinking. As with ALL books, consider how the author made their money, the current climate, and trends etc. "Principles" on getting rich are better that "books" on getting rich. Principles NEVER change. Bottom line... Read, Filter, Take Action, Adjust. You're welcome!

You can read it in an hour at the bookstore. It’s a light read, and Ramit doesn’t seem to like it based on what he’s said in some of his podcasts.

If it's so easy, you should do it!
I pay and generate enough taxes. I don't mind paying them but they are out of control at this point. The government needs to have a hard limit on spending. And I would love to pay my employees more but I can't because of taxes. I pay above market now BTW. And I am not sure it would help. I feel like the stimulus was a great experiment showing how well inflation works. Hopefully we figure it out one day.

It just came to me that some rich people start charities distributing food... wouldnt it be better to put together a business, something simple, and go take some of the poor people in these charities to work there instead? Or do a charity teaching financial lessons...
