I think from an End Update we can expect similar features to the Aether mod. It is likely that Mojang us the Poisonous Potato Update to test upcoming features for a sky dimension like The End. The snapshot has very similar features to the Aether Mod

It'd just be hella annoying to implement it, like first of all the differences between the versions. 1.8 uses lwjgl 2.0 and uses java 8 whilst 1.20 uses lwjgl 3.0 and uses java 17. They would rather spend that time adding new cool features rather than using it to implement some old code.
Not to mention the biggest change to the combat update are the shields.
Us Bedrock players were just chilling during 1.9 while Java players were in WW3

With the reach system of the experimental combat snapshots, I feel like the mace fits this mechanic. If the combat snapshots get implemented the mace should get like 4 blocks reach when fully charged (the windup for the mace is 3 seconds so its probably worth it)

It is much more likely that they add another dimension, than change the End.
They already revamped the End, and the “lore”(which technically doesn’t exist) explains why it is soooooo barren.
Plus, and I don’t know why it isn’t said more often, the April fools updates ALWAYS have hidden in them some mechanic that will come in the near future. That said, anybody remember going to the moon via cow?
Now, in 1.21 we have different water bubbles(closer to the air bubbles from the moon), more use for copper( and the copper grate), and they had that weird expanding moon base.

I honestly think Minecraft doesn't need another End update, it's supposed to be a barren wasteland.
I think Mojang should focus on the Ancient City instead of the End, and finally give purpose to the massive Warden-shaped portal structure at the heart of the Ancient City
It can still be a barren wasteland and have more stuff, like more ruine structures or maybe some mobs that scavenge off the few food sources there are. It could be like the opposite of the nether. While the Nether is a thriving rainforest-like ecosystem with lots of biodiversity, the End could be a like a tundra. Not many creatures or food sources but still livable.

The ender dragon is supposed to be this dangerous, deadly, scary entity thats supposed to actually make you feel threatened though. They literally already documented this in the recent the end videos in the minecraft channel. The end is supposed to be a threatening place, where there are only hints of abandoned civilizations, abandoned structures, not a empty place where all you do is kill the dragon, which is already easy enough, and then you get a elytra and shells from a end city, and you will pretty much never come back to the End again. I am disappointed that people think the end is supposed to be this empty place where your only threat is shulkers and endermen.

all they need is a toggle for combat that is applied at the creation of a world or server so it instantly disables shields and cooldowns but not offhand since everyone loves it
I honestly dislike the combat snapshot’s reach and the ability to hold down the attack button.
If it was for me to make the new combat update, i would use 1.8 but time hits allows for a sweep hit (combined with the sprint hits). These sweep hits would allow people to not aim directly at the opponent while still hitting them. I would also add sword blocking back.
The changes above combines 1.8 and 1.9 but not bedrock. This leads me to thinking of adding bedrock combos (flying into the air) because I tried it out and it’s genuinely great

Unpopular opinion: 1.9 was a good update
every update is, even if its not reaching the expectations of people its still good, the point is to add new things to a sandbox game to try to make it more fun, 1,9 added the elytra which is just a thing you can use if you want, obviously not easy to find, the combat rework just made the game combat better in general so that you wouldnt just die by a wooden sword in 5 seconds and so on. Also minecraft did alredy end a long time ago, updates are usually just extras.

Look, I understand where you're coming from, but think about why they split the caves & cliffs update, 1. It was because of the pandemic so they couldn't be in the same building, and 2. Creating games can take a long time, especially updates. Try to be in their shoes for once, they're trying to improve. I understand that things take time like games and stuff like that. People really need to stop making videos on any combat changes, they've already changed the dynamic once. If they do it again there will be a drastic downfall in popularity because it will be the second time they change combat while players are only just now getting accustomed to it.

I like 1.9+ combat actually.
People are seriously overestimating how useful the mace would be, it's way too circumstantial to even be useful.
-Requires falling from a large height
-Requires being close enough to hit
-Missing means taking tremendous damage at best
-Needs heavy RNG from a special effect box to even get in the first place
And that's not even mentioning how the mace got absolutely gutted a few snapshots later.
-Has enchantments to fix the nerfs + secretly in the new snapshot the wind burst enchantment was buffed to throw you thrice the previous height in the air or 27 blocks
-You can use trident to gain height and direction
-Mace is for late game players which have maximum skilled players and it's made for skilled players
-You could use it to do parkour (please don't do brain rot)
-Does not require large height, who the heck will have the need to kill a warden in one hit???
-The type of RNG you're saying is easy, the many ways you could use it is absolutely worth the fight we will do

Isn't this a bad thing? Getting launched makes you more vulnerable thanks to bad air speed which makes you more vulnerable to projectiles, and even then it basically removes the fall damage negation gimmick since it just repeats the cycle.

Tridents in general are a way better weapon, and even then good luck trying to hit a target (Let alone a moving one) while flying at ridiculous speeds.

Skilled players generally want the most effective methods possible, a weapon that can't even be duplicated with a risk that outweighs the reward completely is not one of them.

All of the powerful mobs have extremely easy ways to take them out making going out to get the mace pointless.
And even then the entire gimmick of the mace hinges on height making it more effective.

Easy? Kinda, but it's extremely lengthy and tedious to go through possibly several structures while hinging on an infrequent source of a potion effect and rng from those spawners to get the keys to begin with. The other weapons are way more versatile.

This isn't taking into account that the risk is massively skewed against you thanks to losing items on death (Unless keepinv is enabled), the other player having a functioning WASD, eyes, or other counters, the mace having short range, and other factors like server lag.

not really, they're fairly uncommon unless you take the time to get a cartographer villager. That's not always even the case, and even then with the ominous vaults you not only have a low chance of getting it to begin with but you also need a potion effect to even get the keys which require more RNG in the first place.

But you could still use a trident to gain height and direction, I said DIRECTION - direction towards where the enemy is going and can use elytra to swing towards the person and replace it with chestplate to count the fall damage
Trident isn't the best weapon, when you could see that many enchantments for trident on Java are like nearly useless or only used in specific situations like rain or thunderstorms + it isn't even counting many mobs
Which hecking weapon is supposed to be duplicated? It's stupid + You get it for giving a level of damage which is not like the arrow blaster, which is only limited to the place where it's built + when you get weapons from mobs, there is a 99% chance of being damaged + you could get it easily, just search for trial chambers - you could get many trial chamber maps by trading a villager, which isn't even hard when people could already make item farms, not even mentioning the fastened process with the new autocrafter which could craft complex things automatically
Many ultra beginner people don't know how to get a full 8 block or specific levels of jump under it - there's a lot of chance that using a mace would give them time to somehow adjust to higher levels of jump, and using wind charges for shorter jumps
I again said mace doesn't require large height, when you get one for your world - you have a lot of knowledge about the mace probably cuz you can use new weapons only after reading what it is and it's definitely easier to plan how to kill a boss using that method because you don't have to be like *oh i need to firstly go to the nether and gather 3 wither skulls and 4 soul sand and go to the end by going back to the overworld and go to the end portal and dig a hole under the end portal and place the wither with some blocks of obsidian surrounding it and do the normal killing stuff* while using the mace - oh i need to firstly go to the nether and gather 3 wither skulls and 4 soul sand and go back to overworld and wait for thunderstorms and spawn the wither and use the trident to gain height and crush the noob java wither
Lengthy? you could easily kill a mob using a maxed out netherite sword, enchanted and defeating a single trial spawner in that case wouldn't even take a minute, it isn't that trial keys have a 10% chance of being spewed out, you can easily get it for half of what you fight and even get a trident in a literal normal vault. You could easily get a ominous bottle, no need of going to the pillagers. You don't have to explore like 50 trial chambers, you have to explore leass than half of that and still as I said earlier you could get many cartographers to journeyman easily by those automatic farms to get the items needed to be traded. This encourages redstone and more exploration and you could negate a potion by drinking from milk bucket and many aren't even gonna harm you, it's just the bogged's poison arrows which are just gonna be affecting none of your health when you could get to diamond or netherite armor within 2 play sessions or even a single one. This explains Minecraft RNG isn't lengthy - in fact it isn't a RNG game and this is just like fighting normal minecraft mobs for rewards and it isn't that the tings powering the trial chambers couldn't be broken, they do have a durability but pretty high.

Even if it is very powerful it's only powerful when you are falling down and hit a mob and I know that you now have to be extremely high up to even do that and it is extremely hard to even hit a mob but that's a me problem.

1.9 still soloed. 1.8 pvp was uneventful, and didn't have variety in any way. it was just point and click, which is not enjoyable unless you are a serious valorant player, follow the bedwars community like a cultist, or cant handle big changes in og Minecraft features mentally (womp womp cry baby go play on your Xbox 360 if you want some og Minecraft). sure. 1.9 pvp was half cooked when it released, but Minecraft came out with the trident, the wind charge, the mace, the firework crossbow, the totem, and so much more to balance that out, making there be several different ways to have a pvp confrontation which i personally think is way more fun than clicking faster than the dude on a 1990s ah desktop in a foreign country through a screen and being able to do a flashy bedwars wool bridge. not to mention the fact that not only was 1.8 1.7, and 1.6 a flop, but 1.9 was also the reason they made the elytra course game on the Minecraft wii U mini games menu (if you know you know), and made the end dimension more than just a boring old center island with nothing else around it but void, instantly eliminating any other argument that isn't illogical. it is simply a question of whether you enjoy more variety and entertainment, or if you are some kind of loser with no dopamine receptors. the new pvp is better in every way and i will die on that hill.

If you still like the point and click game that was 1.8 pvp in the grand 2024, you my friend need some motherly love and to get your life back together. If you play hypixel, it's inevitable that you are a sweaty player and therefore a loser, because there are so many sweats on that server that you can't go into a game without at least one player with an auto clicker, skills you could only get by being a try hard, or pay to win items that ruins your games, and makes it less enjoyable, and less possible to learn how to get good, which I don't wanna do in the first place, and that ain't gonna change by the look of it.

Hypixel bedwars is so full of try hards and sweats that at thi point, to get anywhere on there, you ha e to be a try hard yourself. That is what I mean. The amount of time required to play that game and be successful and good at it is more time than anyone should be on the internet daily in one sitting. You have to make it a second job, and you'll still not be all hat notable because there is like 50k + bedwars youtubers out there that are most likely more skilled and more experienced than you, and to be honest, they are huge nerds and probably are stuck back in 2020 mentally with the cringe content they create. They are the worse form of 100 day survival youtubers. And plus! The only reason hypixe bedwars has more variety is because it used commands to code a complex game mode. It is both a bad representation of 1.8 pvp, but then again is also the only notable one for being so widely played by sweats.
