I was born in Banbury and train spotted there as a youngster. I have vivid recollections of visiting the shed there as an art student between 1959 and 1963. This was way before the advent of 'Health and Safety', and there were virtually no restrictions. The place was brimming with activity, muck and atmosphere - absolutely marvellous!
This is largely 1965 or earlier because all Banbury ex GWR Steam was withdrawn in 10/65. Furthermore all WR based steam was withdrawn on 31/12/65. There is also a Class 37 taking over 1N83 Bournemouth- York/Newcastle from 44860 - but by 1966 this train was in the hands of Class 47 between Banbury and Sheffield Victoria. I think there are Britannia Pacifics in some shots, these being Banbury based for GC services in late 65, all leaving by Jan 66 when Colwick MPD took over GC services. Even though the dating is amiss it’s a good clip: thank you.
Very good to see thanks for sharing, but I suspect most of this footage dates before 1966 as my experience of a shed visit around that time was mostly ex GWR in the scrap lines with the odd 9f and 8f in steam.

Yes, exactly what I was thinking, GWR Halls are shown in operation which were withdrawn before the end of 1965.
