  • In today's video I rebuild the forks for the 2007 Yamaha Fazer S2 I used to own. These are standard, non upside down forks and this method applies to all forks of this type. They're basically all the same!! This is an in depth(as best as I could do) including removing the forks, debuilding and rebuilding them.
    If you'd like to watch a different style of fork rebuild video(less in depth) here's one I've done previously on my Supermagna: • Motorcycle Fork Rebuil...
    If you found this video helpful please hit the like and subscribe buttons! I really appreciate it :)

    Good video. Two small things.... You could have made a point of putting the fork seal in the right way up. I always put the forks back in the bike, just using the top yoke bolts, before filling just to be sure they are fully extended, and it also avoids the problem of getting the cap back on the top as you have something to push against without compressing the forks. I have only sold a bike a couple of times, normally I trade in. The FZR1000, and the Buell, and they were serviced very regularly, but I didn't do anything special for the sale. If I buy secondhand I would always do full servicing anyway. Keep them coming. The GSXR is calling....

Damn snap ring. Good video man! You could change my motocross fork seals anytime! When are you moving to Colorado Springs?

    Well this gave me the confidence I needed to get mine done this winter, and you saved me the $600 (USD) that a dealership quoted me to do the job. Quick question, could I set the forks lower in the tree and adjust the rear spring to lower the bike? I'm a bit of a shorter rider at 5' 4" (162 cm) and the bike is just a pinch too tall to flat foot at a stop. I also need to replace the front brakes since fork oil has taken over the brake system at this point.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Před 2 lety

      Ah well I am very happy that this video helped, it's why I do them :) You can set the front forks lower yes, that's make the bike less stable in a straight line but increase how fast you turn in, you technically can set your preload to the lowest and it would reduce your rear ride height slightly, honestly though if you're wanting to do that I'd recommend going to a suspension setup shop and let them have a look, you could mess up the handling big time otherwise. Ah yes, definitely they'll have a lovely amount of contamination now :)

      I think you're talking about the spindle taper, I've included a link to the fork exploded out on cmsnl. From what I remember it's just for location and protection of the cartridge, I'm not an expert though. If it looks in good condition I'd reuse it.

    But before I even start, please reply to me with the correct OEM Yamaha part numbers for all the bushings and all the oil & dust seal, cause I can't see the part numbers clearly cause it is blurred.
    Also, what is the tool called that is used to assist you in the repair?
    If you can please reply soon, I will greatly appreciate it!

      Hi CMA, if you look up cmsnl.com you'll find all the part numbers for the bike, I don't have them anymore apologies! But cmsnl has everything and you can search under the bike type directly.
      The tool is just a seal driver :) if you look up adjustable seal driver you should find one, you'll need a 43mm for the Fazer I think it was.
