  • Welcome to Lloyd Tries Cars, this is a channel dedicated to my own experiences of a variety of cars, motorcycles or anything else that moves under its own power!
    In this episode we look at car number 62 on the Evo top 100 List - the E92 M3, often said the best of all the M3’s. Some even say it’s one of the best production engines of all time. So, how did we get on? Is it?

    The E46 M3 was my favourite model but now I think the E92 is the nicest blend of power and elegance.

      After having both for 2..3 years each, I would say E46 M3 is great car. Raw, fast enough, very nice design. But E92 is much easier car to commute daily. E92 I have 7DCT (46 I had manual and got tired in city) and I cannot be more happy with, plus CID navi (bluetooth, music streaming, keyless) - this makes living daily with E92 M3 so much easier for me. The only dowside is fuel economy. My E46 manual had 12,8/100km average, e92M3 DCT I have 14,6 current. E92 Me shines in highways, the faster you go, the better it is.

    I had an E46 M3 as a fun weekend car and changed it after 8 years for an E93 M3 LE500. People will say the coupe is better. However take the V8 out on a nice morning with the roof down and the noise is addictive.

    Great review! Bought one of these 6 months ago after years of chasing "latest-greatest" and having my head wrapped around numbers and 0-60 times. Cars have become pretty fast nowadays - even a bone stock M340i is silly fast. However they lack the excitement and the drama that the E92 M3 S65 engine and chassis can provide. Absolute gem to drive and enjoy. You just have to put your ego aside that even some non-special models nowadays are quicker accelerating. I just wish mine was a manual, looks a touch more fun! : )

    • @Lloydtriescars
      @Lloydtriescars  Před měsícem +2

      You’re absolutely right! I hate to say it, but outright speed isn’t everything! I’d rather have this than a 340i! As nice as the 340 is!

  • @benl6044
    @benl6044 Před měsícem +2

    It's amazing how our definition of fast has changed in the last 15 years with the advent of quick turbo cars and powerful diesels, not to mention EVs. However, the e92 is plenty fast enough to be fun and it's so much more involving to drive than any of the non-M stuff (M140, etc). I realised some time ago that road driving is all about the experience and not the speed and with some minor changes to inlet and exhaust, the E92 M3 delivers that in spades.

    Great video. Very happy with my manual, low mileage, '08 E92 M3 which I bought last September. That V8 never fails to put a smile on my face. This era I think really was the high point for sports saloons/coupes as the Audi B7 RS4 & the C63 AMG Merc are also brilliant. The modern equivalents may be faster but don't really do it for me.

    • @Lloydtriescars

    I own a 1 previous owner, 2013 LCI, mineral white, 6 speed manual with only 17k miles. Looks & feels like a brand new car. Few subtle mods. Ohlins R&T coil overs, AP big brake kit, Recaro CS seats, lightweight mono block wheels, Modstock 1.75 exhaust. The car is literally perfect. I’m completely obsessed with it & it’s the one I’ll never sell. It’s perfection.

    On the indicators for E9x - if it doesn't auto-cancel, if you half-press in the same direction, it will cancel the signal. It's a bit counter intuitive. The semi-tactile "click" takes some getting used to for sure. I can see why people gave up using indicators, many people just didn't get them and ended up indicating the wrong way.

    I just had a little fun on the Autobahn with an E46 M3. Man this thing is nice, it looks great, and the sound is spine tingling. However it doesn't stand a chance against a more modern M140i. I had my family and a crammed boot for a vacation on board and he still couldn't keep up.

      What kind of driving do you do?! If you live out in the countryside, go for a manual, DCT if you are going to commute in it. Both are great options though.

    • @micraw714
      @micraw714 Před 2 dny

      Back in 2020 when I bought mine, I drove the DCT first and felt a little let down almost not wanting to buy one. I decided to buy one out of state in manual and figured I'd sell it if I didn't like it. Four years later, it's still in my garage and always puts a smile on my face! It's a bit notchy and not the best manual transmission out there, but it's also not the worst!
      Ironically, I recently drove a friend's DCT version and really enjoyed and appreciated it! I would say drive both and eventually plan to own both 😅
