      Working 100 hours a week makes sense only if you are doing your own thing and not for a company... If you do that for a company then you'll get to higher posts but in the end the company will profit more (and you'll just keep working your ass off for the years to come) but people who do their own business put in hours of work in the starting phase of their business to live how they live today
      Also just working won't do shit, you need mentors, learn from your mistakes and come up with something new to push yourself above others...
      It all sounds cliché but at the minimum this is it and also luck

      CeMore Moneybag It actually makes sense on second thought though. If you're desperate enough, you may invoke some sort of primitive fight-or-flight response and be able to prolong it until you get what you want. In other words, intelligence aside, a human can become very clever when their life is in danger, and immediate danger isn't even required for it to work. You see this sort of creativity materialize in survival situations. It's not exactly the same as being chased by a moose during mating season, but knowing you're going to drown in less than 10 minutes after capsizing your boat will invoke a similar response, as will after being stranded knowing you will starve if you can't figure out how to get food. Maybe there is no static time limit for such a response and so can be present in people over long-term goals they are very passionate about such as Musk.

    Young people - Working twice as hard as others only works if you take care of your body/mind. Even then it’s not worth it most of the time unless you have a burning passion for your specific field of work. Don’t drive yourself into the ground chasing entrepreneurship alone - it won’t fill the void that’s missing in your life. Trust me. I worked 70-80 hour weeks, got to the top, and there’s nothing there unless the passion for your work is there. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF and live well with your family.

      @@agastyajain4129 I'd reccomend looking into general religious truths. The idea behind it is that by fully accepting truth and love (which are the same thing if you think about it enough) you adopt a responsibility that gives you meaning...which will allow you to suffer without it mattering. Suffering is inevitable, but life is about finding that purpose which makes it worth while. And since all of our subjective experiences are tied to objective reality...aka everything we do, think, idealize came from somewhere else...it only makes sense that the destiny of our souls is tied to a God who is the ultimate love and truth itself.
      All that I just said won't solve everything you might be going through...depending on context things pertaining to life can be as simple or complicated as you make it...but I hope its a good start. The answers that pertain to the purpose of life are out there, you just have to be willing to seek them out. Many times in life we have to make acts of faith in order to make what we percieve to be the "right" decision...why should our interpretation of God be any different?
      Anyways if you have more questions about general philosophy feel free to ask and I'll answer as best I can! Take care and cheers! ;)

    Reminds me of what Michael Jackson always said. Work like there is no tomorrow, don't bother unless you can be the best, study the greats and become greater, etc. ALL geniuses, visionaries and innovators (no matter what their field is) have the same attributes. They work harder than anybody else, they are perfectionists, they don't give up, they see things that others don't and they do everything BIG. Also they are not motivated by money (yes they make lots of it and they appreciate it) but rather by seeing their great ideas come to fruition. And they all want to make the world a better place.

    It is not enough to work more. I used to work a lot. The only things it gave me was double salary after 6 years of work. It is crucial to see that he starts from saying that we have to do something which people will value. The other thing is that we have to be able to take risks, standup after failure and be flexible after we fail. Sometimes we just simply do things because we used to do them before and this is the reason we don't learn from our failures. It is easier to continue than change ourselves. And to do it I don't see any other advice than to force ourselves to do things differently. So, it is not enough to work hard. If you work hard digging your grave you will only have very deep grave.

    One of my first jobs was working as a painter. There was an old pro running the crew in his last year before retirement. We knew he was coming to check in on our work so we made sure we were rockin n rollin in the middle of a hot summer day. He saw us baking in the hot sun, covered in sweat, paint cooking in the heat, and yelled at us to “WORK SMARTER, NOT HARDER!!” In other words, we thought we were putting in the hard work…but we weren’t being smart about it and should’ve been working around the sun.
    Soooooo, it doesn’t really matter if you’re working twice as hard as the next person if YOU aren’t being smart about it and your leaders aren’t smart themselves. Doing more dumb stuff isn’t a recipe for success.

      Work is what you do. Elon said it himself. Amibition is doing what you innately desire. It's feeling what I can do based off ideals or beliefs. If you don't do what you believe then why are you doing what you don't believe. It's like working a job with no belief, isn't that no purpose. Your working for nothing and you feel nothing. You gotta work for purpose and it's exactly what elon explained. You don't have to work long longs and give alot of effort. Just go beyond normal expectations and elon did exactly that.

    • @axurous1
      @axurous1 Před 3 lety +2

      It was an advice for entrepreneurs. Being an entrepreneur is a mindset, not a job. It means to come up with all sorts of ways to arrive at your goals, at your destination.
      If you’re employed, and decided to apply that “work twice as hard as everybody else” to your job, you probably made the company take leaps further towards their goal. Whatever their mission statement it may be.
      But ask yourself: is the company’s mission statement/goal the same I have?
      I doubt John’s mission statement is “to be the premier retail company in the world” or stuff like that. That’s company talk.
      Elon is talking about people who want to achieve their goals in life. What those goals are you have to find out for yourself. 9 times out of 10 is not your job. Your job isn’t a goal, it’s not a destination. The money they pay you there is solely the tool which you use to get to your goal, not the goal itself man.
      If your goal is to buy the piece of land of your dreams for your retirement and your family’s enjoyment, you know you have to attach a price to it. Dreams have a price tag on them.
      Well, now, as an entrepreneur I’ll do whatever it takes to buy that piece of land with that beautiful property.
      In order to do that, I’ll work twice as hard at my job so I can save twice the amount of money. Or I’ll start a business of my own, and I’ll get through the first years of operating in the red to get to one day high profitability levels so I can control my compensation-not my boss-and how much money I put away for that beautiful piece of land. As long as the way you get to that destination is honest, legal, and ethical.
      And mine was just an example-it doesn’t have to be a piece of land with a property in it. It will be whatever inspires you or your family.
      But if you’ll never stop and THINK ABOUT IT, you’ll never figure out what you’re fighting for-and the hard work will be meaningless, without result financially nor emotionally.
      Think for yourself man, that’s what millions of people don’t do. They’re leaves on the big river of life: they just float on it, thrown around by the flow, and sometimes the flow rips them in two. You gotta become a rock, you stay firm and put on your goals and values and the flow doesn’t move you one inch-it only shapes you up a bit.
      Don’t work just to work, man. That is of no use to you. Useful to the company for which you work for-but you’re not your company! You’re your own person, with a family and people you love. That company cares about the CEO/Founder’s family first-yours second, if not last.
      Hope I brought come clarity. These are basic success principles right here

    1. Focus on something that has high value to others. This means being confident that your idea or product will solve a real problem for people and that they will be willing to pay for it. Musk emphasizes the importance of being rigorous in this assessment, as it's easy to fall into wishful thinking and pursue unrealistic dreams.
    2. Be extremely tenacious. Starting a business is hard and there will be many setbacks along the way. You need to be able to persevere through these challenges and keep going, even when things seem impossible.
    3. Work incredibly hard. Musk says that entrepreneurs need to be willing to put in 80-100 hour work weeks, especially in the early stages. This will give you a significant advantage over your competitors who are working fewer hours.

    100 hours a week is just impossible, especially if you're studying. The brain is not going to concentrate for 14 hours a day on specific, tedious tasks.

      @@gavinedit8722 It's different with doctors, they have already been taught the skills required in med school. I'm specifically talking about people who are learning new information. I want to apply this mindset to my studying and yet I like most people would find it extremely difficult to study 14 hours a day.

    • @gavinedit8722

      Bobby they are not taught everything in med school they are constantly learning new skills and information while on the job- they also had to pull those study hours during med school as well.

    • @gavinedit8722
      @gavinedit8722 Před 4 lety

      Bobby also I’m not saying its a healthy option- i think a lot of people suffer from over working themselves with those hours - but its not impossible

    • @hemipemi
      @hemipemi Před 4 lety

      Actually, it's the specific, tedious tasks which are *exactly* what the brain is good at concentrating on for 14 hours (or more) per day, if you're motivated enough.
      What's much harder - bordering on impossible, depending on the subject matter and your level of intelligence/expert knowledge/experience - is working for 14 hours a day on intense, cognitively taxing tasks, such as those involving high levels of abstract thought and problem solving.
      The trick to becoming hyper-productive, Elon Musk style, is to identify those tasks which you're able to grind out day in day out until you drop, fill the morning and early afternoon when you're at your sharpest with the intense problem solving tasks, and the late afternoons/evenings with the sort of stuff that you could do while watching a movie or listening to an audiobook or talking on the phone (and wherever possible, actually be doing something like that at the same time). Now that's productivity!

    This advice isn't only for entrepreneurs, as the vast minority of all people will ever be entrepreneurs. Regardless of what type of worker or employee you are, work harder and smarter than everyone around you, and you will never be disappointed with how you can climb the ladder and end up. One of my favorite things to do is to dig down and do self-productive things while other people my age are "living it up" partying and engaging in impulsive pleasures. You may look around and find that a lot of people are better off than you right now, but nothing beats hard and smart work in the end, and if you make that promise to yourself, you're going to end up satisfied.
