This is by far my favorite performance of "Baba Yetu" to date. A fantastic, powerful performance by all involved. Joel Virgel's vocals really seemed to pull the chorus forward. Great choice!

Everything will be alright until Ghandi nukes you. LOL, but this is one of the top 1% of video game scores. Only 2 other games catch my ear for how they sound and that was the Halo Trilogy and Mass Effect. Heck I haven't played Civilization IV, but heard this song at Video Games Live when I was younger at Wolf Trap Farm Park in Vienna, VA and has since been in a regular playlist for me to listen in my cars.

Im a Nigerian, 21 years old and i took the baba yetu solo. I was so happy praying with the solo. Im the happiest young boy in the world. I still play this song everytime
I was about 17, had no internet and had just bought Civilization IV. I didn't play it on the first day because I would just leave it to loop "Baba Yetu". Even if I had hated the game (which I didn't) I would still say that it was money well spent because it introduced me to this beautiful and magical composition. Through this song I started to explore everything else Christopher Tin has made and it's all beautiful but this song sings to my soul even though I don't speak Swahili. A true masterpiece that transcends language and uplifts the soul.
While all of the Civilization themes are great, Baba Yetu is by far the best.

@@warriorprincessharmony When performing music, there's a difference between performing and putting emotion, or your soul into it, and the audience, when paying attention, can feel it. If you look at some small choirs, you can see those that are just performing, but when you look at the ones that truly love what they are doing and performing, you can just tell in their body language. That's what @BachsEnkel was referring to. You can tell the singers are actually pouring their hearts out into performing and truly praying rather than just singing.

If there are millions of people on antidepressant and anxiety medication, then there are still millions of anxious and depressed people. Masking a symptom with a drug is not healing and so the fullness of the spirit and fruits of the spirit are lost and life looses joy and natural pleasure. This is why spiritism/pharmakia cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven and neither can the sinners.
For Life in accord with God's promise for life we must walk in and by God's Spirit of altruistic Love for Life. God's #Loveisnotacortisol stress hormone and God's Love guides us away from the causes of stress hormones to allow our endorphins to flourish.

I was in choir for 8 years of my life and this is the single most thrilling and empowering song we ever got the privilege to sing. Back in 2017, Saint Louis Park High School choir in Saint Louis Park Minnesota had the wonderful opportunity to perform this song at Carnegie Hall with Christopher. I unfortunately never made it there. I am living though these beautiful people. What an opportunity. What a beautiful moment to share with so many people. Thank you Christopher Tin, for giving young people these amazing experiences. Thank you for seeing us. Thank you for allowing us to sing with you. This song holds such a special place in my heart and my life.

Baba Yetu is my favorite video game theme of all time.
One time during an African art history class I took in college, the professor played this song before the start of class and asked us if anyone recognized it. Of course, my hand shot up and I explained every bit of trivia I knew about it and finished by saying, "It's my favorite theme of all time!" I guess I was too fast because he was going to give anyone who could tell him about it some extra credit, but I didn't get any. Oh well. Still got an "A" in the class!

( No more death is referring to death of spirit, because The Holy Spirit is quashed by wars, abuse, sin, hurt, slavery and oppression etc which take away peace and happiness and fall short of God's Love causing grief, pain, illness, sickness and death of the spirit leading to death of happiness and joy leading to depression, anxiety and sicknesses that in time lead to sickness and physical death. )
If there are millions of people on antidepressant and anxiety medication, then there are still millions of anxious and depressed people. Masking a symptom with a drug is not healing and so the fullness of the spirit and fruits of the spirit are lost and life looses joy and natural pleasure. This is why spiritism/pharmakia cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven and neither can the sinners.

Its unbelievable how this epic song just didnt exist before 2000's. Its so simple yet so powerful. Love the chord progressions and how it changes to postive outlook at the end. Overall: masterpiece.

I think this is the best preformance of Baba Yetu, so far. This is one of the few tracks that has moved me to tears once or twice, despite not understanding a word of it. Besides the ahhhhhs and ooooohhhs. I get those.
