What was the reason going to a 03 common rail? Just more power and tunning
My guess is either that’s whY he had in hand or the 03/early 04 don’t have internal EGR, only 2 injector cycles vs 3.
Didn’t this truck use to have a p-pump 24 valve?
Can make way more power than a vp44 and it’s way more drivable than a ppump

Thats absolutely rediculous the painless harness was dog $%/+. To what extent is the custom harness running the truck? Is it mainly a stock 03 harness with a few splices to adapt a few things?
What actually made it run other than the custom harness?
