Ive been using the muzzy 3 blade for many years. Most deer dont run over 40-50 yards. I like them because they are the best value. 6 broadheads still under $40. You can resharpen blades or replace them. If your bow is tuned good they fly straight. They work great on hard quartering away shots.

I’ve been using a sevr 1.5 I’m not an advocate for mechanicals by any means but I do fall in the category of a 31” draw with a 75lb pull. I still typically would rather shoot a fixed head. My biggest thing with a broadheads is structural integrity and durability which surprisingly sevr checks both boxes for me even being a mechanical head.

I use a qad Exodus for my fixed blade head, and have the mega meat's, dead meats and the rage hypo's as well. All have worked great so far.

Used the Grim Reaper Razor tip and G5 Striker this year. The Grim Reaper flat out impressed me. Flew well, went through the lower shoulder of a doe hit one lung and top of heart and still got a pass through. Hit another doe a double lunger. Neither doe went 35 yards. Great blood trail. The striker was also great, hit bone and still got a pass through. No damage to the tip , blades were jarred up. Replace and reuse. Both heads were 125 g.
Used a magnus stinger 100 g. Head a couple years ago. Like a hot knife through butter. Blood trail was good. I was expecting more but shot was single lung and liver. That buck went about 100 yards. A very solid head.

I love the G5 strikers. Very accurate and have killed a lot of deer for me. I tried mechanicals for a period. They always seem to work flawlessly until you are in a hunting situation when you really need them to work and something goes wrong. I’ve had them work fine and I’ve had a blade open in flight and my arrow spin off aimlessly.

Good video! I've been bowhunting for 23yrs this year. I've harvested a great to mature buck every year but 3yrs in that time frame. Many many does and turkeys in between. Plus some public land bears. I started out for first 4yrs using muzzy 3 blade. Then moved onto first cut mechanical 3 blade over the top deploying. I harvested many deer and turkey with those for years until rage came out. The past 6yrs it's been a toss up. I've stuck between the old rage hypodermic with a collar like you showed there and shwackers. 2yrs ago I did go to a fixed magnus head. The head worked but such lack of blood.
Currently I'm still using rage and shwacker. I like the better flying profile heads. To me accuracy is everything along with big damage. I hunt in very thick hill country. Most of my shots are under 40yds. I do have some swamps I hunt so I have shot opportunities out to 70yds. In the thick side hills I want as much blood and terminal damage I can. I don't like pin hole slices in and out. Finding blood can be so hard. I don't have a concern about shoulders or etc.... I've seen from buddies shooting 500gr arrows with fixed single bevels don't blow through a shoulder..it can happen any head if hit in the wrong spot. I always try to aim for a solid lung shot or heart. For myself this is the confidence I need and want each season in and out. My setup is 27.75" draw length shooting between 70 n 75lbs for the past 3yrs. Before that I was shooting 66 to 68lbs for many years.

Montecs by G5 for my compound and ramcats on my crossbow. I prefer to have the smaller cutting surface than some other broadheads. I get the field point like flight and I don’t have to worry about blades not opening. If you make a respectable shot the deer aren’t going to survive , not to mention I’ve hit shoulder blade and still got complete pass throughs with both

One point I think you left out that I a huge deciding factor and could be argued as fact… is tune ability of the broadheads. There was a study I read where crossbow hunters using fixed blades or “cut on contact” heads recover less deer than those using mechanicals. However, out of a compound, it was more 50/50.
I contribute this to tuning. How many people shoot their compounds with both field points and then their broadhead of choice to see how it’s all flying. You can practice all you want with back ups or practice squad… if you never get in game reps… you do t even know where you’re at.
Now this tuning I find huge in a positive for compounds. You can tune your nock location, your peep, your sight, rest, and even the speed, draw length, and it’s just a tuning craziness. Now a crossbow, all you can change is the scope. Your aim point. You can add weight to arrows like you can compounds, that effects speed, but you’re not tuning the “bow” it’s self. The rail it shoots of is the rail. That’s it. The sight.. you might be able to adjust your speed dial, but that’s it.
In reality you should be talking about the work needed to be good. Just my 2 cents.

I tried the mega meats for the first time this year and I was very impressed one of the bucks I shot was at 57 yards quarting away arrow tucked in behind the shoulder and popped out his throat 125 grains. Was able to reuse the head and same collar shot a doe with it. Before them I shot slick trick magnums I now have both in quiver depending on where I decide to hunt determines what head ill use. But really like the penitration and accuracy with the mega meats and you get a practice head which is nice.

Definitely matters what you’re shooting, if you’re using a vertical bow and can tune it properly I’d probably use a big single bevel, but with a crossbow I’ve been using 150 grain Rage the last 3-4 years all complete pass throughs till this year, I wondered why until I walked up on the 220lb gutted buck and seen it went through and shattered the off front leg!! I was blown away! Never seen a bow do that kind of damage! I do want to try 150 grain Swhackers (if I can make myself try em)

Razor broadheads have been good to me. Im shooting the 150 grains. Im not an expert archer, but I've had them flying really good without a lot of adjustment.

Love the tuffhead evolution 2.0 200 grain wide. Also love my tuffhead 300 grain. I shout a baseball with both heads, the 300 grain got better penetration.

I’m a big fan of Kudu points in 125 grain for my fixed blades. Rage chisel tip 1.5 inch for mechanicals. They both have their place in the woods in different scenarios.

Try Shwackers and give your opinion on them. That’s what I’ve been using with great success with both the vertical bow and crossbow. Lots of meat in my freezer with them and haven’t had a failure………..yet…….😂

I was using swhackers but I was unhappy with the entrance holes so I switched to the megameats. Full shafting with a 32 inch draw length and I tend to hit back so penetration hasn’t been a concern.
