Saw Rodney live in concert back in June 1988 at the Worcester Centrum, Massachusetts. Almost pissed my pants laughing so hard. He was the best. The King of one liners! No one did it better. No one!
Just went into a deep dive of Rodney after random clicking on a link, couldnt stop afterwards seeing lots of videos in his haydays in 70s. his jokes still hold up, now watching this last appearance, very touching and sweet, what a true true legend

More than 12 years after his death, it remains surreal that I found out about it while reading his memoir. In it, he discussed death and how hard it would be to accept. I was not reading anything else at the time. He outlived many people who lead similar lifestyles, but still, taken too soon. I can't tell him to rest in peace--he'd hate that. He needs to be resting in power with an infinite supply of pot, booze, sex, Chinese food, chocolate cake and finally, respect.

Just watched this interview after watching Rodney being interviewed by Conan (1997) ad Stern (same month/year) and this was the best interview by far. Kilborn was relaxed and smooth and asked just the right questions. Rodney was the best.

I was a Crap dealer in Vegas the night he married Joan, they came up to the table and he bought in for 100. He shot the dice about 15 minutes, made about 4-5 hundred, then Joan took a turn. She didn’t last long. His bets for the dealers made 100. It was a pleasure to deal to him, he was very much a gentleman and thanked the other players for allowing him to shoot out of turn.

I grew up watching this man.. When my parents divorced I was raised by my mom and every weekend I would watch old comedy shows and his late night appearances on talk shows. He made me laugh so much that I was transported away from the pain of not having my mom and dad together anymore. Laughter kept me sane and kept me happy and to forget about the pain. Rodney had a way of delivering his comedy like NOBODY I had ever seen before. The fact that he talked about everyday things that were wrong with him even going as far as calling himself UGLY always had me in stitches. I loved him on the DEAN MARTIN show & Ed Sullivan's show.. Johnny Carson late night 🌙.. Rodney was the best and I loved his comedy.. even in Lady Bugs 🐞 and Natural Born Killers he did a great job .. and who can forget Caddyshack ❤❤❤❤❤❤ Thanks for all the great childhood memories Rodney ❤ 😊 💕
The story about him having his first job when he was 5 was sad.... Not sure if the laughter in the audience was because they thought he was joking, or uncomfortable laughter, or genuinely laughing at a 5 year old being molested.
it would be sad, if that still controlled him. he took back the pain inflicted upon him and harnessed it to inflict joy upon millions. that is why people find joy in it, its funny because most people dont win agaisnt those things, and unexpectedly watching a man wield his trauma like the trauma once wielded him but for good is surprising and comical. nobody laughed about the kreep kissing little boys, thats an abomination and stomache churning

So close to the end of his life in this interview but of course he had no way of knowing it. We know it though and so it make watching this video difficult as he talks about his recently published autobiography which he no doubt was proud of and a planned movie if his life so soon to end. Rodney Dangerfield is more than a legend. All that aside, people don't understand the impact he had on so many young comedians in the 1980's. Jerry Seinfeld, Roseanne Bar, Andrew 'Dice' Clay, Sam Kinison, Jim Carrey, Bob Saget, and the list goes on, and on, and on. All these comedians got their start at Rodney's club called Dangerfield's. Just watched this interview after watching Rodney being interviewed by Conan (1997) ad Stern (same month/year) and this was the best interview by far. Kilborn was relaxed and smooth and asked just the right questions. Rodney was the best.

What a legend. I liked him before, but have been binge watching videos from his early days until the present. Underrated to say the least. A special human to say the least.
I was a Crap dealer in Vegas the night he married Joan, they came up to the table and he bought in for 100. He shot the dice about 15 minutes, made about 4-5 hundred, then Joan took a turn. She didn’t last long. His bets for the dealers made 100. It was a pleasure to deal to him, he was very much a gentleman and thanked the other players for allowing him to shoot out of turn.

I miss Rodney
I grew up watching this man.. When my parents divorced I was raised by my mom and every weekend I would watch old comedy shows and his late night appearances on talk shows. He made me laugh so much that I was transported away from the pain of not having my mom and dad together anymore. Laughter kept me sane and kept me happy and to forget about the pain. Rodney had a way of delivering his comedy like NOBODY I had ever seen before. The fact that he talked about everyday things that were wrong with him even going as far as calling himself UGLY always had me in stitches. I loved him on the DEAN MARTIN show & Ed Sullivan's show.. Johnny Carson late night 🌙.. Rodney was the best and I loved his comedy.. even in Lady Bugs 🐞 and Natural Born Killers he did a great job .. and who can forget Caddyshack ❤❤❤❤❤❤ Thanks for all the great childhood memories Rodney ❤ 😊 💕
The story about him having his first job when he was 5 was sad....
Not sure if the laughter in the audience was because they thought he was joking, or uncomfortable laughter, or genuinely laughing at a 5 year old being molested.
I'm surprised Kilborn even brought that up on TV. I'm not sure if the audience really knew how serious Rodney was being about it.

he took back the pain inflicted upon him and harnessed it to inflict joy upon millions. that is why people find joy in it, its funny because most people dont win agaisnt those things, and unexpectedly watching a man wield his trauma like the trauma once wielded him but for good is surprising and comical. nobody laughed about the kreep kissing little boys, thats an abomination and stomache churning

I wish I knew this guy in the show biz while he was alive. Whatta guy. I don't even know where to begin to see his best and all. He's a legend though for sure.

I recorded this as well. At the time I was recording pretty much all the late night shows. But I do remember this, it was very sad when he passed away.

That i did not know. Too bad! So many comedians owe their career to him. His comedy/nighclub i can only imagine started &/or further many careers! He truly deserves all the respect & more!!!

So close to the end of his life in this interview but of course he had no way of knowing it. We know it though and so it make watching this video difficult as he talks about his recently published autobiography which he no doubt was proud of and a planned movie if his life so soon to end. He gave laughter to many thousands of his fans over his long career and was truly an original. RIP Rodney.

Rodney Dangerfield is more than a legend. All that aside, people don't understand the impact he had on so many young comedians in the 1980's. Jerry Seinfeld, Roseanne Bar, Andrew 'Dice' Clay, Sam Kinison, Jim Carrey, Bob Saget, and the list goes on, and on, and on. All these comedians got their start at Rodney's club called Dangerfield's. What a fucking legend.

i'm a long islander. main drag, did not no, wat he say, jamaica avenue. in my neck of the woods, it was larkfield road. i lived in eastnorthport. i had such fun and memories galore. i could never go back. it is said, you can never go home again. no joke. could not afford it, firstly, and it's lost it's luster. i am so content to live in binghamton and it is just a short bus ride away to the beach which i'm not as fond of anymore. love it here and love rodney dangerfield. he makes everything just right.

Rodney was a long time pot smoker. Started before I was born, which was 1954.
Good to know he didn't become brainwashed like so many others of those generations. My grandfather was born in 1946, and he is soooo closed minded about weed it's crazy. He doesn't seem to understand how widely accepted it has become and how many health benefits it can have. Not to mention that from a recreational standpoint it's not nearly as bad for you as alcohol. He still only connects it to the hippie movement and thinks it's a gateway drug that really fucks you up. Maybe if you take a 80+% pure Sativa Dab with zero tolerance. That could give you a real bad case of paranoia I guess. :)
I don't know though, I think he just loves to hate it... Oh well. Lol

RetroRupp back in the early 70s, I smoked with an old guy that smoked back before it was illegal! Been around for years. Government just loves having more avenues of control and power over the citizens.
I believe Rodney also smoke to keep him calm I've noticed over the years in all of his videos he would adjust his tie change positions in his chair and sweat a lot I think the weed made him kind of chill on top of his health problems
