I got a dodgy darbuka the head doesn't line up flat with the rim so it's hard to get the slaps sounding right.

I’m in the same boat. I have to hit the rim really hard to get a good tek and ka sound but it feels like
I’m working too hard. I tried tuning it up to get the head flush but it choked the sound even more so I’m just frustrated at this point. Did you ever get your issue figured out or try a new drum head?

@@tastelesstouch I couldn't fix as it's a manufacturing fault so a new head skin would have same problem. I think a metal grinder would help to put right but I have no skills in that department! Hope to get a better darbuka someday so I can practice, good luck I hope yours can be fixed.
