i know we're all focusing on camellya but i really wanna say some of chat are really going at the vas for their delivery and it does make me a little sad because literally they were doing what they were directed to do. most had to repress their real accents. im going with taoqi as an example because i got her before i played the part she shows up in and took a great liking to her. (eepy girlie solidarity fr fr) her voice in the main story is not super emotional as some of chat said, but if you listen when she does put emotion in her accent starts getting stronger. theres been an offical post confirming the reason why delivery is sometimes off is that the va company is a uk one and the talent is going to have accents from there, however they were given direction to sound more american. using taoqi as example again, her character voice overs have way more stronger moments of her va's actual accent. i dont like this trashing on the vas when imo they did pretty alright with the (probable lack of) direction given. i hope the statement that the vas will be allowed to use their actual voices more is stuck to as i think it will really improve things

This IS a China based company, so it makes sense that's what they would assume. Especially since the Eng VA work was done in the UK due to location convenience. I think the VA's should be given the chance to reprise their lines with their natural accents. And it's not impossible for that to happen either. It would just take time. We also got a statement by someone who works very closely with the localization team stating that from now on they are not going to force the VA's to do American accents due to feedback.

Okay, let's assume it's just caused by bad direction. What would you want us to do? Praise the voice actor since it's probably not their fault? Are we not allowed to criticize the voice ACTING (not the ACTOR)? Honestly, that Camellya scene was so badly acted in English. I play in Japanese so I wasn't expecting the acting to be this bad in English.
@gemgem-hl7ii I think you're misunderstanding how VO work, works. Alot of the eng VA cast are very talented and have done other amazing work. The vast majority of the time, VAs are given 0 context to the scene they are voicing. They have to rely solely on the direction they are given. Bad direction can EASILY ruin a talented VAs work. Just look at Xenoblade 2. Rex's eng VA has done amazing work, but due to horrible direction, most of the lines sounded out of place and/or inappropriate for the scene. So yes, it is very fair to point the vast majority of the bad Eng VO on the direction and not the VAs. They were also forcing UK VAs to do American accents, which is not natural to most of them, so it sounds bad and forced. That is 100% the voice directors fault and whoever it was that told him what to do. Thankfully, they won't force it anymore, and i sincerely hope the VAs get the chance to re-record their lines in their natural accents.
And both Acheron and Topaz VA saying in unison: ONE OF US! ONE OF US! while sharpening the pitchforks for the next roast whenever they are around on a stream XD
I love that Rover speaks so much... and I love how when doing the strategy table thing... the wrong choice still gets animated and Rover explain why these wouldn't work in this specific battle.. they small detail but I love it!!! Also the person in charged of directed all the voice actors in EN did a poor job.. some of the voice actor red the scene instead of their dialog or say things how of order and even give them only like 2 takes...... LUCKY Kuro is working to fix that in the future!!!!
