Love my MASTER COOL. Had it 5 years and in the first 6 months did 2 complete replacements end to end, building all the brake lines and figured those 2 jobs alone cleared the cost of the tool. All the other jobs I've done I got to use it for free. Plus the brake jobs, I've done a few trans lines and fuel lines with it. WORKS GREAT. It is a little bulky, but I stock nicop line and if need be I can just make a longer run to get to an area where I can make a splice.
Nice flaring tool. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible night. Much love and RESPECT
Thanks for another great vid CP ! I am sharing this in hopes it helps someone else. Freightliner truck side of the road BFE, air line broke clean on back side of compressor . Didn't have a flare kit so used a 3/8" deep 1/2" drive socket and hammered into the line to flare it. Truck is still running on that setup. For the trolls, the 3/8" and smaller sizes have a tapper on the fitting end which makes a great expander in a pinch. Thanks again CP !
CP! WOOOOooooo!
Thank you for the video Brother!
Hope you had a nice day!
I used the master cool at my previous job. And actually wore it out after 6 years. Hell of a unit.
Love when you do the videos at your buddies shop. That huge Mac box makes for a nice background.
I purchased the Mastercool about 5 - 7 years ago and I haven't made a "bad flare" since the day I got it, except if I forgot to tighten the "T - handle" enough. Even then, if you do forget to tighten it enough, it'll just push the tube down. It generally won't be ruined. You simply loosen the T-handle, slide the tube back up to the stop, and tighten it properly. You'll flare will be perfect. I love the Mastercool. Can't state any options on the Vevor as I have no experience using it, but I can highly recommend the Mastercool. Some of the best money I've spent.
The Mastercool set will also do GM transmission lines (those dies are included with the full set but also can be purchased separately if you have the smaller set). The set pays for itself within 4-5 cars if you live in the rust belt like I do. Yes, it is pricey, but it is WELL WORTH IT! I bought mine about 6 years ago and as long as you know how to make a proper straight cut (and to de-burr the line end) you will have a leak-free end every time!
The vevor one will also I just don't have the confidence.
@@CPthetooladdict Excellent choice sir, TMP from N.J.
Thanks buddy
Good to see someone upgrading there box the master cool flare tool looks Luke it did a good job
He didn't do a flare with the master cool unit dont know what you were watching.
I am a body man, not a mechanic, but that looks a lot easier than what I used many years ago. Vevor on Amazon, I think I will get one, I would only use it 3 to 4 times a year. On my own stuff. Trailer is awesome, keep it up.
Masterccool all the way especially with those forged dies. Take care a, TMP from N.J
Yep those dies on the vevor are garbage. No way it’ll do steel and at that point just go use the part store garbage.
I have an older & newer model mastercool with the line alignment guide you spoke of..the head is a little wider on the newer one as well..the pinch bolt on my older one was stripping out..so I grabbed a new set..almost traded in my set towards the new , decent offering but kept it just in case I broke a die..never have yet in many years of use..heard guys broke the pin on the die by dropping it..so I didn't want to regret..Thanks for showing , still an interesting option..Buddy..👍
Sweet teaser ..Epic box..thought you pulled the trigger on a new set up..😂
I have the mastercool. No problems with it
Thanks for the video. I didn't know those existed. I will have to get one. Before I got laid off in 08 the manufacturer I worked for used an electric version of flare tool. It was a NAVAC brand and I have been trying to get my hands on one for years. It would do it all from A/C lines to brake lines. It must have been industrial only like some of Stanley's tools cause I can't find nothing but there 45 degree tool.
We have the MAC tools, mastercool rebrand set at our shop. Love using it, easy to use..
Thx cp. Love the mastercool as well. Her in NE OHIO its needed
For low and compact, look up the papco flaring tool on ebay, you’d have to buy dies from lisle or somewhere similar, but it’s a locking plier style with 2 rotating jaws for different sizes. Works the balls!
Mastercool is worth it every penny if doing a lot of brake lines. Can also make GM fuel lines as well. Will find them with the Mac and Matco names on them too,Mastercool make them for Mac and Matco as well
Hello again CP
Thank you for another Great Video 👍 Son, I hate to say how long it's been since I made a line. But I must say either tools are sight better than what I used earlier. Again thank 😊
I've found over the years that no matter what brand or type tool you use to only finish the flare about 80% so it's finished as you tighten the line in place. Seem to get much better sealing that way for me.
I tried a couple of the Vevor rebrands and they seem ok, the last one I told them no dice on a positive feedback video and they haven't contacted me since.
Seem fine for anyone needing something occasionally though.
I am not a fan of this tool I got two that were not good also I never made a video because they were so terrible I probably should but I honestly don't see how anyone could find them useful
Goooood stuff brotha
Mastercool is the ticket for a quality item
Love my
Mastercool!!!! WoooOoOoOOOoOoOo!
Ibdi love the master cool, but the pricing in Canada is rough, the 72485 is close to $700 typically. I've bought a couple with the shop footing the bill and I'd do it again, but for something to toss in my box for some field work or even friends and family repairs, the Vevor at $200 is an insane bargain - the extra few minutes don't bother me if I'm just hanging out with some friends anyway, as opposed to clocked in on a ticket.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the review. Yep I'm a believer quality isn't cheap I would rather pay more for a good quality tool than have to keep replacing a cheaper tool. I was wondering if you ever looked into mastercools crimper for a/c lines?
Good review
Glad you enjoyed it
I was wondering is there a 3/8 digital torque wrench you would recommend?
I'm a firm believer there are two levels of quality professional tools. There is also that level of junk but we won't go there. Any way this episode just proved my theory of 2 levels of professional tools. I also looked at the vevor tool versus the master cool. I feel the vevor is a very good tool, but it's just a bit rough around the edges. I think it will make a home repair man a very good tool that will turn out quality repairs for less money. But I feel the vevor will take a bit longer due to it not being as high of quality, and you showed some of us down falls.
I have to say the die are everything. This might be ok for Nickle copper line, but I doubt this will be able to do the steel lines that come from the factory. You’ll strip the die smooth after the first one and have incomplete flares after that.
I wouldn’t mess around with brake line flares. Sometimes it can be hard to tell if it’s good or not just be visually looking at it.
just snagged a vevor set for cheap.... works great for everthing.... except 3/8 or larger steel fuel line push connect.... die will not hold the line in place... not only is the steel die soft, but the machining is not great. the dies have very little grip to them. They also seem to be shorter compared to the mastercool set... so less grip area... its going back and the mastercool set is on order.
I don't get enough brake line jobs to justify getting one. When I do get one is because someone was too lazy to remove the master cylinder to change a brake booster and kinked the lines.
Lmao 2 seconds in...i died 😅🤣
Lol thanks buddy!!
do you know who makes the "eastwood flaring tool" that looks similar? Can you use the mastercool dies in the vevor unit? i want to make AN 37 degrees flares with my eastwood tool, but I cant find anyone that makes a kit for the eastwood hydraulic tool
No clue, it's not sold by anyone that manufacturers it, so it's rebranded by several companies
If you operate the tool right both will do a perfect job but I still prefer the vise mounted version much easier to get good feel on those than the handheld.
Cheaper isn't always good enough
@@CPthetooladdict These are really not cheaper though they just have another prossible application. I would get one of these second definitely.
shocks, pegs, Lucky!
I like older more expensive one
I have the mastercool worth every pennie
That Vevor machine looks like it came off Ali Express ,,, and thats all you need to know or say.
Others need to see for themselves so stop acting like a a$$hat
Cringe when I'm looking for quality tools on eBay and vevor brand pops up lol i don't even acknowledge that Chinese tool brand and keep scrolling.
Well, guess what? It's a good thing the world doesn't revolve around. your entilted a$$
