    0:20 Yes, security is SO important to Apple, just ask Jennifer Lawrence.. :\ Apple just use this as a marketing opportunity.

    • @ezrazski
      @ezrazski Před 8 lety +8

      +BdR76 apple had nothing to do with jennifer lawrence. she was compromised by someone getting her phone and she did not have full security turned on. the fbi could get into jennifer lawrence's phone easily, if they had a warrant.
      this is about banking, credit cards, location data, and the ability for apple to assure customers that they are selling them the security they are claiming to. perhaps you are a google phone user so you don't care about this, you are already sold and tracked. apple keeps that to itself and offers iPhone customers the ability to completely encrypt their data and provide additional safeguards against cracking.
      apple already turned over all the iCloud data and the phone company has turned over all that data. apple also offered to consult the fbi on getting into the phone in question. but the fbi screwed up and tripped up the auto-destruct mechanism. it doesn't actually destruct, but it locks the whole thing down hardcore until the 4-digit pin in input by a person.

    John McAfee basically argued the same thing. Once you give this privilege to the US government, every other country is going to come up with a court order-like document requesting the same privileges. There will be absolutely no privacy left in the digital world. All of our privacy is virtually riding on this particular case with the FBI. I really hope the right decision is made here.

    I love Conan but, he seemed kinda dismissive on this. At the end Woz was starting to get really into what they were talking about and it seemed as if Conan was trying to cut him off. I understand they may have run out of time and had to move on but, if that's the case when you know that the time is limited don't ask an in depth question which requires a long answer.

    • @classicsurvivor
      @classicsurvivor Před 8 lety

      What hardware do you not like?... They use a i7 processor reconfigured to only fit an apple product. Other than that it's the same processor. That's pretty much the story with all the components in an apple computer. Aside from the operating system there's not much difference. The difference is that Apple reconfigured their products so it that doesn't allow exchanging them with other products. If that's what you don't like then yeah, best off with a windows PC, but out of the wrapper and not exchanging hot rod components the Mac Pro is an incredible machine. I run both as both machines have strong points.

    • @bomb-de-dyl
      @bomb-de-dyl Před 8 lety +1

      For sure, I agree for the best part, but as you said, I don't like how you can't build your own and easily upgrade like on PCs. I also think iPhones aren't as well built as their Android counterparts. Another criticism of them is that they're crazy over priced. I think most people are better of building a Hackintosh rather than buying a Mac.

    • @classicsurvivor
      @classicsurvivor Před 8 lety

      +daddys cancer I love my Mac Pro. It's the best for video and picture editing. I'm also a fan of iPhones and I think they are well built. And I've always got all my money back when I go to resell them, so I don't think they are too high priced. But like I say, I love PCS too. I run three custom built PCs for commerce and logistics. I've always been the person that can PC and MAC at the same time.

    The scary thing is that apparently for most people it´s a `tough debate`. To me that´s like feverishly debating if we should or shouldn´t drink boiling oil. Debating is nice, but the answer is no, no you shouldn´t.

    • @saucybackport
      @saucybackport Před 8 lety +1

      +Chrizzie 78 without debatin why you shouldn't drink oil, what is oil, at what temperature oils boil you are a fool to answer that question - nothing scary about analyzing the question before answering it. How FBI formed the question to Apple, what declared intentions are, why verizon cooperation is different to Apple cooperation, what is the difference between the conspiracy theory and reasonable criticism - all questions the Woz didn't think about before claiming allegiance to Apple

      Look B.A., I didn't state one should not debate. I stated the concern I have over either my sanity or those of (some) others, as one of both has to be in serious peril regarding the feelings I harbor towards this debate.

    • @saucybackport
      @saucybackport Před 8 lety +1

      Chrizzie 78 in other words if neither of participants in the debate are scared of boiled oil then you'll reject all the evidence that proves boiled oil is safe - that's exactly means demanding to stop the debate because you know you are wrong

    • @jccusell
      @jccusell Před 8 lety

      +Xenial Xerus
      No if neither participants is scared of things that are so obviously dangerous to me, like shooting yourself in the face with a sawn off shotgun or drinking boiling oil, then either two things are dreadfully amiss: my sanity or theirs. Again, thinking and analyzing if driving a nail through your eye would hurt is nice, and in it's abstraction important, but the manner in which it is conducted can warrant genuine concern i.e. done so with serious intent to drive said nail through said eye.

      If someone gave you a pot of molten iron and said "Here, drink this, it's great !" you would go "Hmm, I wonder if it is a great... hmmm, would it be harmful? Hmmm, wait, wait, let me get my thermometer first." To me, the FBI's request is on par with "Here, drink this pot of molten iron."

    • @zel2113
      @zel2113 Před 8 lety +1

      +stebsis Apple has always taken a strong stance on human rights but try to understand that they have no control over China's government nor Chinese companies. Apple can not have a person standing around Foxconn factory making sure they adhere to the labor standard they want. Also, Ive worked 7 days 12hr shifts in a factory here in the US. The media tends to bias things and people forget that manufacturing is not 100% year round. There are crunch times during peak season. i.e Iphone launch but other than then things calm down and sometimes get very slow. I think its sad that Apple gets all the bad press when Microsoft, Sony, Amazon, and a bunch of other companies all use Foxconn just like apple.

    • @zel2113
      @zel2113 Před 8 lety

      I'm not sure what you are unclear on, the statement above was about human rights as in the conditions of Foxconn factories. Foxconn is the company that manufactures apple products. Apple has no control over Chinese government nor Foxconn but they get blamed for it.
