    As someone who has worked in logistics I can tell you with the way international shipping prices are right now those prices probably don't have different margin % it just costs that much to get it to the US from Japan

      I actually don’t think/ don’t know how much control Disney has over pricing in there. The dept store in the Japan pavilion actually is not a part of Disney- that’s why you can’t use your Disney discounts in there

    Regarding the prefectures at 6:08, it doesn't say Yamagata Prefecture. Yamagata is 山形県:
    That says Yamanashi Prefecture = 山梨県
    While the other prefecture is Wakayama =和歌山県
    Japan blows American Kit Kats out of the water to the point they make them look sad. And every time I see CC Lemon, I think of the cursed Simpsons commercials they did

    • @tdrexplorer
      @tdrexplorer  Před 2 lety +3

  • @casna5400

    The Mitsukoshi dept store is actually a “separate entity” from Disney that the sponsors of the Japan pavilion put in- that’s why you also cannot use your passholder/visa/dvc discounts in there(not sure why other pavilions accept it but I assume it was up to the country sponsoring that pavilion, Epcots design ended up more complicated than expected). I’m sure there’s a lot of factors that go into the prices.
    I always make myself a little budget when I go- my city unfortunately has only a small handful of Japanese markets(which do see an import markup) and no real other shops so until I can afford another trip to japan it still lets me obtain things that doing so online cost way more.
    Glad to see you say you let yourself actually vacation on vacation- must be hard as someone with a travel blog to separate work but you deserve it! 😊

    we looove that yakisoba. At Asian grocery stores in the US I'd say they're about $4-5 each, so $6 isn't too much of a markup. On Amazon they re 4/$40 or 12/$85. So very expensive if you don't have a decent Asian grocery nearby!
