    I’m fortunate to have discovered an attractive person with a calm voice presenting science-backed research and advice. As someone who thinks that "garbage in, garbage out" is what ails most people I believe in eating, what I call Ancestral food, food that is nutritional first, tasty second, wholesome, natural, minimally processed. I’ve been a vegetarian for over 50 years, but I did develop eyesight problems, so I’m here to learn and you seem a terrific teacher. Many thanks.

    So glad to have found your channel. My eyesight has been pretty terrible since I was young and only gotten worse. I've found that nutrition has definitely improved my eyesight and would love to see more videos from you on this. I'm really not interested in surgeries or medications to treat eye problems, but if you could make videos on natural ways and practices to improve vision it'd be really appreciated. Much love & thanks, Dr. Audrey

    Thank you for your excellent videos. In our country (Germany) there are sometimes very long waiting times for an appointment with a good ophthalmologist. That's really a problem when you realize that something is changing in the eyes. Your videos are very helpful in finding out what could possibly be the cause and how you can do something yourself to at least slow down the progression a bit. Thank you, your work is great.

    I just discovered your channel today and after viewing a few of your videos I both Liked and Subscribed and look forward view more of your videos as time allows. I was particularly interested in the videos where you discussed Floaters and Dry Eyes since I have mild symptoms of both. You explain everything in such a very easy to follow and understand manner so that even I, as a not to smart younger senior citizen can understand. I also have always preferred trying more natural remedy's over pharmaceutical drugs. Thank you for the time and effort you put into making these videos. They are very informative. Narrated by a beautiful young woman is just icing on the cake and makes them a pleasure to watch.

    As seniors, my husband and I eat a huge freshly washed and chopped garden salad which includes a load of kitchen machine-grated carrot every day; but as part of our over ten year old rescued Maltese ‘puppy’s’ supper each evening, we give her that grated carrot and red cabbage, along with boiled chicken and always sweet potato all mixed in together, so that she can’t sort out only the ‘good stuff’. I don’t mean to brag, but even at night, she can see another dog from a few blocks away and she’s got boundless energy.

      Most people will develop cataracts during their lifetime. The foods I recommend are for maintaining general eye health, but there is no single food that can 100% prevent developing cataracts. I hope this helps.

    What is the average conversion from beta-carotene to the active form of Vitamin A ? is there any supplement for the active form of Vitamin A?

    • @eyechannelbyeyesurgeon
      @eyechannelbyeyesurgeon  Před rokem

      At 7:16 of this video, I discussed the conversion rate of beta-carotene from carrots to active vitamin A in our body. I hope this helps.

  • @Radjehuty
    @Radjehuty Před rokem

    I think there's a slight inaccuracy or perhaps a miswording in reference to Beta-carotene conversion to Vitamin A in relation to Vitamin A Toxicity. Hypervitaminosis A and Carotenemia are two different conditions that this video kind of implies are related but aren't. The 12:1 conversion ratio of beta-carotene to Vitamin A in the body isn't the reason it's unlikely to cause hypervitaminosis A. It's because the pathway of conversion is highly regulated. The body won't convert beta-carotene to active retinols unless it's needed. Excess carotene will simply build up in the skin leading to the orange appearance. It's harmless and reversible. Hypervitaminosis A requires overdosing on preformed Vitamin A as it's bypassing this regulated pathway. Of course it's very easy to do this with supplementation but it can happen in foods that contain this form of Vitamin A, generally in more concentrated sources like organ meats (Liver).

    I can't believe that old story is still going around. You got it half right. The story was propaganda and a cover up to prevent the enemy from finding out that the Allied Forces had discovered how to have perfect night vision: they were confined to areas lit only with red light before sunset. The same red light measures are still used on our (Canada's) warships. I think the fact that there is some measure of truth in the cover story, and the entire population believed the story, made it almost impossible for the enemy to ever discover the truth.
