      Right now my weapon of choice is a Pigtronix Echolution 3. Still on the learning curve but so far loving it. Has lot of control possibilities and the fullness of an analog delay and the clarity of a digital . Very nice unit

      Strymon Timeline or Free the Tone Future Factory or both together!! I love knowing the Milliseconds or BPM and was a Very Important Feature. with that said, the sounds from these two delays are absolutely amazing. Have a Great Day and Reverb before Delay!!

    Genius way of comparing pedals by not showing which you are playing and then showing how similar they are till you can start to hear a difference on your own. Thank you, more of this type of videos please.

    I could tell which one was the 3000 when you kicked in the modulation because of that pitch drift. To be fair I’ve had a pair of real 3000As for a few years now.

    Got my best Sunday Headphones on for this one. Thanks for doing the comparison. Some weird phasey stuff going on in the SDE-3000 pedal's modulation. DIG wins for sound but the SDE-3000 pedal UI is awesome. DIG needs a millisecond / BPM display.

    Hey man, went with the SDE... EVH version for some of the extras, direct dry through (I don't actually know if it's analog but whatever, it's going in a parallel loop), and built in ground lift adapters. Thanks for covering this as it helped thinking on the investment. Hope you are enjoying hanging out with the tricksy hobitses. Best, D

    Yup i picked up on the SDE adding a wider aspect to the sound. Thats one thing about the gear from the 80s it would subtly change the sound/tone on top of whatever the effect is.
    Ex: sweet child o mines tone doesnt sound close unless you play it with an SRV 2000, same thing with EVH's music unless you play it with an SDE 3000.

  • @wills8705
    @wills8705 Před 8 měsíci

    If you want the best sound then nothing is gonna compete against the sde. Maybe there are better delay processors but they still can't compete against the final output sound.
    The catch is that 1 out of 5,000 will actually use the sde in this manner.
    When you have 3 decent amps/cabs and use the wet/dry/wet then no other delay will come close on the sound that enters your ears.

    I spent years acquiring a level of skill to play my instrument and compose tunes. I feel if my song is a painting on a canvas that an effect can be the frame around that painting. Both these pedals and even more so are the ambient reverbs, demand that they be the painting. These pedals insist that you rewrite the tune to please them. In short these pedals are the tail wagging the dog.
    A simple classic style analog delay contently frames your tune. You need nothing more. I recommend the NUX Re-issue Series Analog Delay which is their take on the old Ibanez AD-80. It even uses the same Panasonic BDD chips. Best of all it is only $60.00 USD. It is so pleasant and unobtrusive I use it as an always on pedal like you use a spring reverb in an amp.

      @@LeonTodd Oh cool! Yeah, it's like a tradeoff between that and precision versus discovery and stunning sound design. If Strymon follows through on their new software and UI, to organise presets and take advantage of the V2.0 midi stuff, it'll be pretty awesome. That said, the Boss unit is pretty cool.

    That’s really not a fair comparison Strymon has way more processing power in their big pedals you should do a comparison with SDE and Strymon Timeline
    That would be a perfect comparison

    • @pCeLobster
      @pCeLobster Před rokem +4

      The DIG is more capable as a dual delay than the Timeline. Timeline can't do stereo ping pong or golden ratio for example.

    • @BobGuido
      @BobGuido Před rokem +4

      Hi Randall. The Strymon DIG actually has more dedicated processing power designed to perform the singular task of recreating the sound of the Roland SDE-3000 and Delta Lab Effectron digital delay, which the DIG was modeled after. The Strymon Timeline's "DIGITAL" delay program has a darker sound that is unlike the tonal response of 1980's and 1990's rack unit delay processors. The Strymon Timeline's "DIGITAL" delay program was heavily influenced by the success of the Damage Control Timeline pedal's delay voicing which was meant to be a hybrid - a digital delay with an analog style voiced high frequency roll off. The Damage Control Timeline was the predecessor to the Strymon Timeline, from the same designer, Pete Celi.
