    This explained air pressure simply & directly and fun yet WITHOUT any waste talk. This is the type of science program I'd encourage my child to watch. Way to go, thanks!

    This is really AWESOME. My mum used to do something similar, she used to insert boiled egg inside a bottle, but first she insert a little piece of burning paper.

    I had a good laugh watching the balloon in the bottle, fully blown, mouth left open yet the air doesn't come out. No amount of physics can prepare someone for an unholy sight like this :)

    We tend to think that the balloon is stretchy and this is what causes air to rush out of it. Here it is proven that this is not the case. The baloon can remain inflated and with the mouth opened, if it is inside a bottle where there's less air pressure. What makes air rush out is the difference in pressure, not the mere fact that the balloon is made of latex. The latex wants to go back to the original form and this generates a pressure, but if equilibrium is reached, the baloon can sit just as fine while stretched and with its mouth wide open.

    Great video. Can I correct you on something. You said when the balloon had water in it, that if you uncovered the hole air would rush in and push the water out. That's not technically correct. It's the elasticity of the balloon that forces the water out and its the balloon that causes air to be drawn into the void not the other way around.
