    So if the pickups are on quick-connects... and you're worried they've been swapped... Why not just swap them back?

  • @P-J-W-777
    @P-J-W-777 Pƙed rokem +3

    In my experience if the guitar was being used on the road the quick connects are there in the event the guitar tech has to change a pickup it can be done quickly and then given back to the player. As you know your bigger bands usually have backup guitars but the player has his preferred guitar and will want it back as soon as possible.

    • @kevinwilson1124
      @kevinwilson1124 Pƙed rokem +2

      Right on the money Philliph. That’s the exact purpose of the soldered end of quick connect pickups.

    • @P-J-W-777
      @P-J-W-777 Pƙed rokem +2

      @@kevinwilson1124 yep pretty easy when you have several packs of new pickups with the quick connects already soldered on ready to go. Simply remove the broken pickup/pickups and plug the new one pickup/pickups in in less than 5 minutes. Can’t do that when you have to de-solder and re-solder. In some cases I’ve seen it where the player wants to change their current pickups to a totally different set of pickups for a different sound while still utilizing the same guitar. Can be done over and over without putting a lot of heat into the Potts constantly which isn’t good.

    • @P-J-W-777
      @P-J-W-777 Pƙed rokem

      @@cataclysmicconverter yeah happens quit a bit with the bigger bands. As you probably know Oftentimes smaller/newer bands have a much smaller budget and only bring a few guitars and usually those are for different sets/songs.
      I’ve seen up to 5 backups for a single guitar in some of the big name bands though. They all get pulled out restrung and tuned for every gig yet most of them never actually see a live gig.

    True, the Custom Shop would be a phenomenal guitar if done up right. Problem would be that skyrocketed custom shop price tag. Hoping that they produce one for 2023 from the Gibson USA shop so it will not only be be a correct reissue, but will come with a more reasonable price tag, so that more fans could afford the model.

      It looks like, to get half the pickguard white and half black/brown or whatever color it is now, they used a clear plexiglass pickguard and painted the backside with it's color on each side and then sprayed white over that. The black/brown paint may have reacted to UV light and changed to what it is now.

      Michael's had the offset B&W guards. I believe the custom paint was done by the guys at Hamer around '80-'81. The color scheme emulates the V2 rocket. Rudolf was given his first sig model by Gibson in '85 with just the half and half B&W paint and no pickguard. Later models would have the guard but not offset like Michael's were. The last one seen here from '13 has the wine red/white pickguard. Michael uses Dean Custom V's exclusively now.

    Hey could you at some time take a look at a Cort Manson MBM-1 guitar? It's hard to find any videos on it and idk if its worth saving up for. There is two versions one with a built in midi controller and one without (I have been thinking about the midi controller guitar)

    It looks like the same model that Gibson built in 2015 for the Japanese market. Small headstock, granadillo fingerboard Classic57/Classic57+... I had one and sold it due the neck had the same profile as yours. Too wide and too flat.

    I had a 79 in white, well, cream... I disliked the short headstock very much but hey....

      The Black and White apparently was a one off as only models by Gibson (the double neck and one of the single neck models) and one by Boris Dommenget (the other single neck) appeared in a google search, all in Natural.

    Before I even watch the video, I’m gonna guess that it’s one of those Firefly double necks!
    Update: Aaaaand I’m wrong. Pretty darned cool V, and most likely better quality than Firefly. By the way, if anyone out there is still listening to the Scorpions I would recommend some of their earlier albums. In Trance, Fly to the Rainbow, a
    Lovedrive and Animal Magnetism all hold up pretty well if you like the bands music.
