I had to laugh at your reaction to Alderman Willie. 😂 These caught my attention: Felicity, Adaliza, Beauclerc, Avonnia, Golden, Valentine, Dulcie (for long form, could always go with Dulcinea), Alwyn, Lorenzo, Beaumont, Theodosia, and Oceana. I have some wild names in my family history, including Analiza, Vallula, and Dorcas. One relative (not a direct ancestor but the sibling of one) was named Missouri. We don't live in Missouri and they didn't either, lol.

“Missouri gets its name from a tribe of Sioux First Nations People of the state called the Missouris. The word "Missouri" often has been construed to mean "muddy water" but the Smithsonian Institution Bureau of American Ethnology has stated it means "town of the large canoes," and authorities have said the First Nations syllables from which the word comes mean "wooden canoe people" or "he of the big canoe."

Ok so for April Fools (not sure if that's something you acknowledge in England), a list of names that would be beautiful if the name didn't currently mean something weird or awkward. Examples: Rosacea ( beautiful but is a skin condition 😅), Duvet, Muesli, Veal, etc. Words that sound beautiful but for the meaning. Jist thought it would be funny and entertaining. 😂

Great idea for a name list! Would love to hear more of these unique antique names :D
    I would totally list: Adaliza
Aldyth - my late aunt was Edythe, so it would be a great tribute!
Avenel - love a soft sounding boy's name
Beauclerc - I think it could be pronounced like Beauclair?
Golden - love this for boys AND girls! And either could be Goldie!
Alwyne - similar to Edwin or Alvin, but cooler in a Tolkien sort of way
Esterlie - SO PRETTY! I love -lie endings
Theodosia - all at once classy and dramatic. Theodosia could be a lead stage actress or opera singer or silent film star. Either way, all eyes are on Theodosia, just the way she likes it. Fabulous.

Not quite 1870, but just a decade later: a potential relation of mine (I say potential because I found this info on Ancestry, it's not corroborated by my family) is a great-great-great aunt, born in 1880, with the unusual name Andrurina/Andrina (there are records clearly connected to the same lady but the names are slightly different; maybe Andrina was a nickname?)
Not name related, but family tree fun fact - a different great-great-great aunt (this one I'm more sure of), Emma Jane, moved from Scotland to Connecticut, USA, where she lived to 102! Seems she passed in 2003, a few months shy of turning 103.

I just listened to a podcast episode of a Cult, and they all had puritan type names..horrible man, but great names!😅 Hopeful Christian was the leader, and one of his daughters was Miracle.

Dulcie with the -ie is French! Dulce is Spanish (Dulce is pronounced either dull-say or dull-thay, depending on dialect and region. Living in the states I typically hear dull-say.)
