My mum took me to the game as a kid, shame to miss the Aus innings, Aus were on the back foot until Border scored 100+. The Windies flogged Aus during that test series and Border took over the captaincy from Kim Hughes I believe for the 5th test at Sydney. What a brilliant team the WI were back then. Then came the Aussie rebuild under border, that was also Mcdermott's first series - he was our hero and we would wear zinc on our noses and bottom lip! One of the reasons Viv Richards got dropped so often was he hit the ball so bloody hard! Prolly fielders dreaded the catch coming to them for that reason plus they didn't want to be the one to drop it and cost their team the game, so they weren't mentally ready to be the hero to take a match winning catch when the opportunity did arrive. If one opposition batsman can have this effect on most of the opposition fielding side, that is one phenomenal batsman. The only way Australia were going to win this game, having done most other things right in this game, was if one of their bowlers could hit Viv's stumps ...

If the 1985 Aus rebel tour to SA had never took place Hogg/Alderman/MCcurdy would have toured England and they would have probably won the Ashes.

Awesome old World series cup matches Costa Sports, can you post Australia's innings of this game & also do you have any 1980/81 & 1982/83 WSC matches? that would be awesome if you could put those on you're CZcams channel.
