    Been watching you for about two three weeks now. I'm now up to video 135. Just amazing content. I love how both of you put equal amount of words into each video and focus on just you and the boat. Love the music and video style. No one else does that. I'm about ready to order plans for a Mumby Cyber 48 and will start the build hopefully next winter or following summer. You have inspired me greatly to get going on my dreams of sailing around the world. I also used to be a small boat racer, lived aboard a 165 ft gaff rigged schooner for a year and sailed across the Atlantic Ocean. I started crewing with my dad before I started preschool and then he built me my first sailboat just after that experience which I think was before I learned how to swim. 1/10/2024

      There used to be Episodes 1 & 2. I remember watching those episodes but they were removed a few years ago. They were not bad. Mostly I remember them driving to look for a sailboat and finally getting "Florence". Nothing bad or weird about the episodes but they may seem dated or have been filmed on a smartphone or something that isn't up to their current production quality (which is excellent). I do with they would repost them as they have nothing to be ashamed of - all successful channels start out a bit rough but that is what makes them so endearing.

      Philip Allsop we stopped in Leixoes (just north of Porto, not very pretty but great for seeing Porto), Aveiro which was a convenient stop but again not pretty other than the beach which is a walk from the anchorage and finally Cascais which we loved. We did not have time to go further south but Lisbon and the Algarve come highly recommended by other cruisers we talked to. We really enjoyed Portugal, hope you do too.

    I'm going to start watching your early vids. I dont know you but I like you already and started supporting you on Patreron (what you are doing merits support)! I have lads of basic questions.how much sailing experience did you two have before setting out? Presumably you've saved the nearly $18,000/year living expenses before setting out? That couldn't have been easy. Figuring out he cost of a 37 ft sailing craft isn't hard but I'm curious what it cost to outfit it with the latest navigation equipment, emergency transponder, radio (ok, you have sat and mobile phone but you must also have a shortwave set?), depth finder, tc, etc. How long did it take you to plan your escape? And do you really plan to just stop? Thanks for everything!!

      @SailingYachtFlorence  Před 5 lety +3

      Hi, The next video will be a tour of Florence, as for costs we average £14000 per year for absolutely everything. We are considering putting together an episode on how much it costs to break that 14K down as we actually track where we spend the money. cheers M&A

      Episodes 1&2 were our first ever youtube videos and when we watched them back recently they made us cringe as they are very poor quality and we felt they detracted from our more recent efforts. I too would enjoy seeing a beginning episode but I also understand what you're saying about the learning curve of videography and wanting to show good quality from the start. Perhaps you could re-edit a new beginning episode combining carefully selected footage from episodes 1 & 2. You could use voiceovers or subtle music if the audio is bad. You could even shoot some new footage for episode one such as a boat tour and a brief introduction to yourselves. People are always interested in the cost of your boat and your travel budget if your open to sharing that info. Thanks for sharing your adventure with the rest of us! :)

      Hi Ed, The theory was that we would take it down in bad weather. Max winds so far when sailing have been 50 knots and it held no problems, it is rock solid. So now we think we would only take it down if a hurricane was approaching.
