    You always have great videos. One idea to share is cutting the foot part and toe off a sock to have a cover for your watch. Use that foot part around your watch. It keeps chips from hitting my watch face and keeps bits and dust from getting stuck to my watch and watchband.

    hello Kent
    I made one and indeed it works nice.
    But also one made that tapers like a coffee cup, easier to stack.
    You have to cut the paper first, a banana shape.
    A drop of white wood glue will also help.
    Ref. You tube several patern making of a Cone Shape.

    I figured you making a paper pot former when you started cutting the blank for the base, only because I've made these myself a while ago for our local school to make it easier for kids to make paper pots for seed raising, then planting in the ground. They work well, and are a great way of recycling old newspapers. Thanks for sharing Kent,.

    I have a question. At the 26minute mark you say you could have actually just done a mortise on the first end rather than a tenon. At this point the project is between centers. Is it difficult to do a mortise while between centers? Maybe a demonstration would be a better way to answer the question? Thanks. Now, back to the video to see what you are turning. 🙂

    Curious why at 29:12 you say that the mortise / tenon never seats all the way against the jaws of the 4-way chuck? Love your videos

    • @TurnAWoodBowl
      @TurnAWoodBowl  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks Tony. Good Question.
      The holding support for the four-jaw chuck is at the dovetail sides and the flush mount on the top of the jaws. If the tenon or mortise seat down to the base of the chuck you no longer have that two-point contact. The flush face connection to the top of the jaws assures the piece will not shift from side to side when you are turning. Check out this article as well turnawoodbowl.com/5-worst-tenon-shapes-wood-bowl-foot-spigot-attach/

    I skipped ahead because the steps make more sense to me if I know where we’re going. As already mentioned I’m wondering how you make a mortise if you don’t have a tenon to work with unless you use a drill press.
