I'm wondering if you can use my LWCG 17" double steps in it? Yr wife spoiled you with that jacket. Great info, brother.

    • @MichiganGreatOutdoors
      @MichiganGreatOutdoors  Před rokem +1

      I think the 17s would work fine but they would stick out higher, the pack kinda runs high on your back anyway. Its a nice pack but the more I use it that width might be an issue for me. Yeah, I cant believe she got me that! We were supposed to only have a 100$ limit for Christmas for each other and she far exceeded that!! I will get her back for her birthday.

    Knowing Tethrd, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them come out with an XL version eventually with a waist belt and more capacity. Looks solid, but without a belt and at this limited size I can’t justify the cost. Nice video as always!

    • @MichiganGreatOutdoors
      @MichiganGreatOutdoors  Před rokem +1

      Thats a good point, I actually like the fact it doesn't have a waiste band. Just wish it was a hair wider up top on the shoulder straps. In the tree it was great, not too big. Everything easily accessible. Solid little pack!!

    • @galinswigart
      @galinswigart Před rokem +2

      @@MichiganGreatOutdoors Kuiu Day packs have the best system IMO. They have a solid waist belt but it’s removable. I hunt without it for day hunts but if I’m planning to pack out meat I can throw it on and pack some heavier loads out. Not having one is awesome but when you need one, you need one.

    • @enjoytheoutdoors1018

      @@galinswigart I agree kuiu system is super versatile. I run two different kuiu setups. One pack I run the pro 1850 with suspension system with or without the waist belt (It's your choice) and the other pack. I run the kuiu pro suspension system with carbon fiber frame, pack load hauler and a pack accessory pouch. I do like the versatility and I get to choose which way I want to run and hunt in the woods (Quick lite hunt or long all day hunts). 🎯

    • @G2Outdoors
      @G2Outdoors Před rokem +1

      @@galinswigart Just so you know, the Compression kit doubles as a waist belt for a heavy pack out...exactly like you mentioned. We did that on purpose so you can easily pop the 1" compression straps around your waist using the waist belt tabs at the bottom of the shoulder strap connections. Most guys will never need the waist belt in a fixed position for a small pack like the FAS Pack. But...it's there if you need it.

    The star of the show is the 14 inch minis. I have the original lone wolf sticks, the LWCG doubles steps, and the 14 inch LWCG mini sticks. The 14 inch minis are amazing. I run them with a gen 2 predator platform for public land hunts. They are perfect for mobile hunting! The Tethrd pack is nice, but not worth the price.

    Awesome. I've watched all the other reviews so many times and none of them really show the inside of the pack up close like you did when you were on the table with it. I knew the inside would be small. I'm actually planning to only run my layers in the inside of the pack so I think I'll be ok. I hunt in east TX so it doesn't get that cold. Typically only run a hoodie or kuiu guide Jacket when it's really cold. Then my Puffy vest and bottoms should still fit in there since they are down. But I like the idea of just compressing a bigger jacket on the outside. Might also help buffer the sound of sticks clanking as well. I can't wait to get mine. I ordered Dec 8th.

    Another great review, brother. Like someone else said in the comments, the lack of a waist belt... or at least the option to add one is the main detractor for me with this pack (or ANY treestand/saddle hunting pack). For me personally, if I'm carrying any kind of load on my back, a waist belt is a necessity as a mobile hunter. It just makes hiking long distances with my gear much more comfortable when all the weight isn't solely on my shoulders. That's just my preference. Size wise, this pack seems about perfect though. Looking forward to more in depth review.

    • @MichiganGreatOutdoors

    I have used mine probably around 2 dozen times. Im not as big of a guy as you but I stand 5’9” 225lbs. Broad shoulders like yourself and felt the same way at least in the late season with a moderately heavyweight jacket on! I think for the most part your field review I can completely say was spot on. Did you run it with the aluminum stay in it or just the sheet?

    • @MichiganGreatOutdoors
      @MichiganGreatOutdoors  Před rokem

      I ran it with the sheet, Its definitely a nice pack. Its not like its miserable to use just after a bout 3/4 a mile it was wearing on me a little. I think its something that maybe was just overlooked in the design phase, Id say if they came out with an XL version for big boys id be all over it!! Functionality in the tree its phenomenal as well as I enjoy the pockets and how they are setup.

      yes, in that video I had the aluminum stay in it. I failed to mention that and yes it did sway a lot. I think its because of how narrow the pack is at the top. I do think its a really nice pack, just wish it was wider at the top of the shoulder straps. Ill have an in depth video out soon.
