    I'll never forget how last year when I visited Japan,as I was walking in the evening back to my rented apartment, there where bunch of men who walked together from work(I assume they were heading to a bar or something)and as they were walking on the sidewalk they literally blocked the entire road for everyone(mind you there was an elder lady who was trying to pass them but couldn't). They were laughing so loudly and they weren't drunk ,they were perfectly sober! they walked slowly and it was so evident that they were doing it on purpose,they saw that people were trying to pass them but they didn't even budge and I was hurrying to get back to the place I was staying at.
    Eventually the hot blooded middle-eastern me didn't gave a single f*ck and I just pushed right through them(really hard!),they were astonished and got all quiet.. served them right!

    I can't wrap my head around how cheating is ok in Japanese culture, or even how married men go to host clubs, or how about 40% of women said they did casual prostitution / sex-work at some point. In a similar experiment about 50% of men said they would be ok with cheating, but their wives aren't allowed to. But that isn't the point, being South Asian (Indian), where commitment and integrity is paramount, my gut would be upset if I even entertained the thought of cheating on my girlfriend. It's really hard to comprehend, and a genuine fear tbh xD.

      It’s the same kind of peer pressure they face at work for drinking with your company or fellow staff. As a employee, you may not want to but it’s also considered rude to turn down a boss’ invitation to group outings. It can be hard to reject that despite how clear it is you’re uncomfortable at the thought of cheating by going. Also, it wouldn’t be surprising if your boss was an older man (cus that’s how Japan is) and with the old generation they have that same old mentality that it’s okay to cheat on wives. I don’t support the notion of cheating on your spouses or using the excuse of your boss peer pressuring it and I don’t empathize with spouses who cheat on their SO’s, but I understand why and would be very pissed at their boss.

    • @dcardigan13
      @dcardigan13 Před 4 lety +35

      In the Philippines, this double standard in cheating exists too. I mean, cheating is not treated lightly at all here - a literal fight would happen between married couples if this happened and may result to annulment. But the general rule is that it's more normal (or it's better) for men to cheat on their partners than for a woman to cheat on her husband/boyfriend. There is shame when men cheat, but there's more judgement and shame placed on women who cheat - cheating women are considered as a disgrace. And sometimes, it's humiliating for women when their husbands or boyfriends cheat on them as this insults their womanhood (but this may be the same for other cultures as well?). But bottomline is, cheating, whether you're a man or woman, is disgraceful and shouldn't be tolerated in the first place.

    I used to work for a Japanese game company in Tokyo and my boss (a Japanese man) also took me, a foreign male co-worker, a foreign female co-worker, and a couple more Japanese female co-workers to a hostess bar once. My female co-workers and I ended up talking about anime with one of the hostesses, and it was just a fun lighthearted conversation basically. I think my boss took us there because he probably enjoys hostess clubs and found it a nice excuse to go there with us simply to show us what it's like. I had some other foreign male co-workers and plenty of Japanese male co-workers there, but those weren't invited, just us. I don't know if he ever took them to one or not. One things I noticed as a foreigner travelling japan is that Japanese men mostly don't properly wash their hands when leaving a public restroom. It's interesting that whenever this subject comes up that everyone seems to forget that it is with other women that men cheat. Apparently around 40% of young Japanese women are involved in prostitution. This tells me that the cheat-culture of Japan is a culture that involves both sexes, not just men.
      Cheat culture isn't a specifically men's problem, it's a Japanese cultural problem, and it needs to be addressed as such.

      It does actually make more sense for men to cheat. But in a lot of countries it's actually more common for women to do so. Especially in "fairer" societies. Because in "fairer" societies women didn't have their privileges taken away from them when they were also given the privileges men had. Such as preferrential treatment in courts, especially marital and custodial courts.

    This is a VERY commen thread you have had before. The boys in Japan are rude and not polite to the girls. The Japanese girls like how Western boys and men are polite t them and t the wait staff. Hold doors for them, open doors for them. Let them in first, etc.
    AND maybe that is why the population of Japan is dropping. The young women are just tired of that attitude and won't put up with it.
    Well that and why lose your job because you are married or having a baby.
    So stay single and have your own money and job and tell the young men and boys to GFT.
    Which is why HOST BOY clubs do so well. THEY KNOW how to treat young women. Pay attention and be polite.
    Boy think doing that is a sign of weakness and as such won't be nice. Like I said the girls are just saying SCREW THEM.

    • @Alternatives_Universum
      @Alternatives_Universum Před 3 lety +14

      I hink the reason why the population is decreasing in Japan is because Japanese men have to dedicate their whole life to their company so there is no time to engage with females. In the end they don´t know how to interact with women and no babies are born. Also women study which is why they don´t think about getting children until they finish their studies.

    I don't like double standards as well. I have changed a few tires in my day and sometimes women will come up to me and ask why I don't have a man change it for me. Who has time to wait around for a man to save me? If I know how to change it then let me do what I have to do so I can get back on he road. I have changed 5 tires in my life, it is a wonderful skill to know if you drive a car. (I can also change my own oil as well) My mom and dad instilled a great need of independence in me so I can navigate in this cold, hard, cruel world. I hope to instill these same values in both my little boy amd little girl. Great video as always! 🤗 Love the content and the perspectives. Have a great day! 🤗🤗🤗

(And a lot of times there's helpful stronger people around but they don't have the *skills* to do anything requiring more finesse than 'push here' just cause they never practiced. ) I do hate it when they're like 'Women can't do this,' and I have to be like, 'Well, watch, why don't you.' On the other hand it's often a real good team-up to have me and stronger guy mechanics on something, (Most guy *mechanics* actually are stronger than me,) cause often I can get my hands or self in somewhere bigger people can't, which can mean a whole lot less disassembly to get at various bolts and fittings that could otherwise mean pulling off manifolds and maybe even removing engines and stuff. On the other hand, especially as I get older, ....am I ever going to get that crankshaft pulley off without making room for an impact wrench? Probably not. :)

    Just a technical camera question for the camera operator, if they happen to read this: What lens and f-stop are you using, and are you using a tilt-shift or blurring in post? I ask because in some scenes it will look like Cathy is standing at a similar distance from the camera (focal plane) as the person speaking, but she will become very out of focus when the guest is speaking, which makes me think you are using like a f1.4, but then like at 0:44 of this video, the other guest is standing behind both of them, which really looks like she would be much further back than both of the others, so she would be even more out of focus than Cathy, but she isn't. I've seen these things a lot that don't seem to make sense considering normal rules of cameras, which is why I wondered about a tilt shift, but even sometimes I'm not sure if that explains it. If you read this and answer, thank you!

Men cheating on Women is rather seen as something "normal", especially when no emotions (i.e. with prostitutes) are involved often it's kinda accepted/tolerated and the woman often would rather turn a blind eye and pretend it didn't happen/she doesn't know if she finds out.
      It's also not unusual that the man is working far away in another town, while the woman is staying at home with their kids, so they hardly see each other.

    The difference is, men dedicate time, women multitask.
    Pretty sure this is why, even for me, I dislike empty conversation.
    If we’re going shopping, why don’t you know what you want to buy. Most of the time, men will get in-and-out.
    While women would go first, and then find out what they feel like buying.
    Wasting time, isn’t rewarding. Empty conversation isn’t fun, especially when people play along and keeps up with the conversation.
    In the end, when the same topic is brought up, the one who started the topic didn’t even remember what they said previously.
    I hate it, i don’t show it, its not for me and why i chose to stay away.

    They have to be, to be accepted by their friends.

    • @zenzenitha
      @zenzenitha Před 5 lety +4

      A lot of time men didn't even show the interest in the conversation at all when hanging out. It could goes lonely and distant fast.
      I think for couple the interaction itself is important, not a waste of time at all. The basic important information only kind of convo is fine for most ppl, at the same time developing more topics could give us better understanding of each other. Of course it have to be a convo where both could indulge in, that's why similar interests is important for longevity. And where there are no similar interests they in turn try to indulge in each other interest, not because the topic itself is exciting to them but because their partner excited about it and thus seeing them enjoy themselves is not a waste of time.
      As for similar interests for example some of my friends find food talk is a waste of time but for my other friend it's *the* conversation because we both love food. Some people find gossip interesting , some think it's a waste of time. It's less about men are x women are y, but more about the compatibility of each couple.

    I agree with that confusion on disrespecting service staff (waiters, waitresses, etc.). They get your food when you can’t see it! As far as you know, they or the chefs haucked a lugie in it when it was being prepared or gave you some dandruff seasoning and you’re none the wiser!!! If they’re acting a bit short with you, perhaps they had a bad day. They work hard, so appreciate your wait-staff, tip well (here in the states), and ALWAYS thank them.
    As for cheating, that’s a dealbreaker. If either he or she cheats (it doesn’t matter which), that’s a permanent relationship ender. If he goes to some sexy bar, she can do the same.
    Here in the states, we try to treat both genders equally respectfully (I do, at least). There are physically some things men can do that are physically impossible or near-impossible for ladies, and there are some things women can do that are impossible or near-impossible for men; men and women are supposed to cover and make up for each other’s shortcomings. That can make them unstoppable.

    • @OllamhDrab

      I think in the US some people are under the mistaken impression that treating working people like lackeys makes you come off like a higher-status individual (than maybe you even are,) but the reality's quite the opposite. That's why manners to all are called 'classy,' and all, whether you're rich or not. (It's been commonly remarked that a lot of very rude people elected the current President here cause he's really a boor's idea of what rich people get to act like, ...but it just shows money can't buy taste or class or for that matter competence. Not to get political, but that's some folks' idea of 'rich,' tacky gilt on everything and calling people names and trying to push people around all you want, as if you should want that anyway.)
      (And as cheating goes, I saw on one of these things that the definition of what 'cheating' even *is* differs between Japan and the West, some things being fine in one place and horrible betrayals in another, ...I think they key point there is double standards about some of those things. Not necessarily that everyone's sleeping around, as we'd assume, for instance. )

    It might be interesting to ask the ladies who work at those clubs what they think of the men who frequent them and one wonders if the men who go to the clubs could formulate an an answer if they were asked why they go, or in the case of people who go with their companies why their companies take them there, as opposed to just going to a bar or a restaurant.
    It should be no mystery that men who treat waitstaff badly are judged harshly by women.

    Cuz girls dont really go for guys younger than them but older than them, hence male idols stay popular even when they get older. Guys generally come to reality more sooner than girls when it comes to idols and they can only date girls who are younger than them?
    Sometimes it not about wanting to make the girl feel weak but wanting to remind her about how much she is being cared for. But it can sometimes almost feel like parenting.

      I gather as much, but I think there's more of a partying/entertaining sort of thing about it, whichever sex is doing the entertaining. Sort of like fairly sedate bachelor/bachelorette parties without the stripping, just social stuff and paying attention to people? I dunno if there's a direct equivalent here, ...escort work in a club setting, basically? (I've occasionally been discreet security for gals actually doing stuff like these things, and on the guys' side, I know some who did some dancing for the ladies and often found they just wanted to hang out and party, and/or chat, have someone pay attention to them, that sort of thing. I guess some of those places over there are seamier/sketchier than others, but closer in concept to a geisha place where there's company and maybe fantasy but not actually a brothel or something. just in this case more modern club atmosphere.

    Should ask a few boys on the behalf of the girls you questioned. The girl who stood in center nearing end brought up a point about men obsessing over the same pair of pants, but it could be the opposite and they just don't care what there wearing. All my jeans are the same type is denim blue jeans in different shades, i wear dark blue jeans to funerals and weddings! Eyes above the belt you fiends, I have feelings too!
