"This is Spinal Tap" is the musicians super bowl. It's something every musician has seen. I have played a lot of gigs where I was meeting the band for the first time at the show . The greatest ice breaker getting to know the other musicians is quoting lines from the movie.
Also, my favorite line: "There's a fine line between clever and stupid." That, from a movie that includes a plethora of classic lines. The entire movie rides that fine line.
He mentioned that a lot of scenes were improvised, which is a revelation to me because through the years, I've often felt that certain scenes smacked of improv.
