Great video! Thanks so much for making and posting! On the hunt for a well made, affordable tool to work on struts. I think this is the one! It's amazing to me that manufacturers aren't using youtube to make their own videos. Crazy.
+Sam King Thank You. This company is actually on CZcams, but there video for some reason didn’t get hardly any views.
Hi, Great vid and great bit of kit I have had a cheap spring compressor fail and it was a very scary moment and the hole it left in the shop wall is a constant reminder to be safe. thanks John, UK.
John Sharpe I had one of the other types of spring compressors fail before the kind that goes inside the spring for old cars. It just about took my finger off.
Very lucky mate that hole in the brick wall would have been your head of went in the wrong direction
1. I like the fact that you were able to put it together and use it without going to the instructions.
2. Great for me because being mobile, I can take it where I need it
3. Seems to be very easy to use and secure.
4. It seems to have a locking mechanism to ensure it doesn't rewind (listening to the clicks as you turn the hand).
The ONLY con I have is as soon as I finished watching your video (which was a great presentation of the tool, and you should be their spokesperson), I went right online to see about one, and that's when I was like DARN IT! On Amazon it was a little over $500 compared to the mcpherson which was over $700, but if I had to choose between the two, I would choose the SK3000.
Great video Ken!
Astral Auto Repairs It has some kind of a clutch in it. If there is no spring in it, its real easy to release. The more tension thats on it , the harder it is to turn the handles counter clockwise to release it.
⭐ Astral Auto Repairs most good brained guys such as me ..do that bery ofthen though
I just got mine today. Assembly took maybe 5 minutes. Seems like a solid piece to compress the springs. Can't wait to try it now! I feel like the 8 times I'm going to use it, will have paid for itself. The autozone/advance auto rental is sketchy at best. No reason to not be safe about it. So I'm happy!
Never, never ever use the pneumatic or electrical assistance to unscrew or screw on the shock abosorber. It should only be done by hand using both the assistance socket levers comprising the allen key or torx key and spanner. I learned this the hard way by ruining brand new shock absorbers by Bilstein for my Chevrolet Cruze. The long spindle of the damper should never be spun at high speed which is directly connected to precision elements and valves inside the damper or shock absorber.
spot on comment... that was my only issue. I cringed when he took the air impact wrench to it.
Looks nice . I may have to look into one . Mine is hurting . I like it is on a stand and not wall mounted . . i have been looking , and i like this one so going to look into them . Thanks for the video .
Damn man, you could have stood on the other side so we could actually see the strut being placed.
Great video. Looks easy. The bottom part where the strut is suppose to sit on might be installed wrong. but hey it worked. lol. Thank you for sharing.
You can put the bottom piece it two different ways for different type of struts.
You know I was thinking about that and if you put it the way it’s on the picture, there is no way that strut could slip off probably got to have a deep landing so the bottom of the strut doesn’t go anywhere. I’m a big chicken when it comes to working on cars. Thank you
You could use those handles for drumsticks if you decide to set up a steel drum set in your garage.
I sent back two of those clam compressors due to defects.
Nice demo on the jack-tech.
Screenguy3 I've used it many times since making this video. I haven't had any problems with it.
very nice tool how much and where you can get one later
A guy I worked with had one of these in his bay that he brought there, was way easier and felt safer than a wall mounted compressor. Not cheap but you can slam out some struts fast with this.
I’ve been using it a lot since I made that video. I can do struts fast with it.
I just got one of these today. I had trouble assembly it. The poles didn't lined up correctly with the red thing on the bottom. I stripped a bit of the threads at the beginning then it started lining up as I try Manny attempts.
purpledonatello The one I got went together perfectly. I had no problems with it. After making the video I figured out the two pieces on top that hook onto the spring is adjustable without loosening the bolts like I did in the video.
That's a great compressor.
What are your thoughts on the red line products like resc2 spring compressor? I was about buy cause its cheaper. Not much reviews on it.
ken good video..your moving up now doing those review...good job
L&L welding and fabrication Only a few review videos. I had to talk to a lot of companies to do that.
Ya I know. I think it's great....all your hard work paying off... Maybe one day I'll get to ..Great job ken
I’ll believe the product when it does the Trailblazer Springs 😉
+Oil_Burner It will have no problem doing the Trailblazer springs. I did Tundra springs and there real heavy duty. The matrial is pretty big in diameter.
I just bought this for a Tacoma 2004 will let you know as soon as I get it . Also so many knockoff compressors and a lot cheaper. Any opinion on this one, branick, redline resc3 and otc 6637. I basically bought this because of your video. Everyone chime in want to know if I picked the right one!
Elmer Vea I’ve used it many more times since I made the video. It works great. I like it better than most of the other brands because it’s easy to get a impact on the top of the strut to take the nut off.
Thanks for the quick reply used it on the Tacoma 2004 and it worked well. The only issue i have is the base you have to step on it so that it doesn't move as much. Bolting it on is an option but they didn't drill the wholes for you on the base.
I’m looking at getting one of these as I’m always adjusting my coil overs on my 4Runner. How would this work with something like a Bilstein 5100 or a coil over where the bottom spring cup is adjustable and just sits on a clip ring? I would think as soon as you released pressure or it would cause issues because it looks like the bottom is held in place by that adjustable perch?
It also has jaws that clamp around the strut. Sometimes I have to use them.
@@1970chevelle396 do the claws dig into the strut and possibly damage the finish?
@@1970chevelle396 thank you for the info, appreciate the super quick response to an older video!
Hello! Are you still using this tool? How does it perform on bigger struts / harder coils? I'm looking to buy one, but here in Europe there aren't any suppliers, so the tool, shipping and import costs come over $1000 ... :/
Yes I’m still using the tool. I’ve done the Toyota Tundra and the Ford F150 springs with it. There very heavy duty springs.
Everyone demonstrates tool with the same straight coil spring and strut. What about the front strut of a 4x4 where the spring and strut are much larger .. the spring being more oval
It does them no problem. I just did an F150 that had real heavy duty springs and it still worked.
did u use it ? I got a similar type and it would have been OK maybe for little car struts ,but tried to do the coil overs on my Tacoma .it compressed the spring but would not release it after . too much pressure
Ha ha ..Rimfirerat said he got similar type...you get what you pay for this one does the Tacoma.
It might be the illegal Chinese copy of our product. We are the only originator of this style strut spring compressor.czcams.com/video/7lFrtlVr2KU/video.html
You should have showed how you replace the shock itself not just the spring which is rare. This process shows that you have to compress the spring, remove the nut and cap, decompress the spring, remove the spring, don't know how you remove the old shock?? being you didn't, replace the shock into the device, replace the spring, compress the spring again, install the cap and nut, decompress the spring. Even when I used to use my old two piece Macpherson spring compressors, all I had to do was compress the spring once, remove the nut and cap and just slip the new shock in and replace the cap and nut then decompress the spring once. It may not be portable as in this JackTech but I'll stick to my ten year old Brannick bolted to the wall.
roadrunner Once you’ve compressed and Decompressed the spring there’s nothing much to replacing the shock. Takes only a few seconds to take it out of the spring compressor and to put the new shock in there.
I like it.
looks like the pieces that contact the spring woujd scratch the powder coat
Looks/Works great! i rather spend $400 more and be safe with a warranty and strong construction! than buying those cheap $99 ones from amazon i just can't trust them! #YouGetWhatYouPayFor
Jimmy Aldana If your doing it all the time this is definitely the way to go. I can do them so much faster now.
i am looking at designs n then making one f paying 1 k or 300 even going to use a bottle jack and safety bolts in various places with in the travel diy ill know it safe then
I had a good look at this design and I did not like it I went with another design ; it just looked cheap and I could see some design flaws as opposed to another one I bought ; I went for a 3Ton
Thank you very much for your demonstration! Instruction video; czcams.com/video/7lFrtlVr2KU/video.html By the way, you don't have to tighten up the bolt on the back side of upper arm. It will be locked automatically when you compress the spring. Thank you.
Whats the biggest strut you done on that?
+Tai-Chong Honokaupu Ive done struts on a Toyota Tundra with it. The springs are very heavy duty on those Tundra’s.
Go mine...and it doesn’t click at all...it free spins both directions....any help?
I've never had any problems at all with the one I have. You would have to contact Jack Tech on that.
This actually manufactured in Korea, how has it held up ?
I know it’s made in Korea. Yes it’s held up well. I use it all the time.
very easier?
Will it handle a 700lb spring
Yes it will. I used it on some very heavy duty springs and it does them without any problems.
Bhai yaa mujha mashen lane ha aap sa cntkta
Great strut Compressor but out of my price range. This looks more like a shop would buy not for a DIY'er..
ARB springs!
Jacktechusa.com comes up in east asian characters. I’m not sure which language it is.
i wish theyd rent them for like @30 ;(
Miguel Mota I don’t think people would ever return them if they rented them for $30

....If this one is good...The SK3500 is better !!
Put a REAL spring (More then 250 in/lbs) in that stand and watch the arms on the compressor bend‼️ I purchased an OTC because it’s was cheaper than a trip to the ER...and I wanted mine on the wall out of the way‼️
I’ve been using it for years without any problems now. I put Toyota Tundra springs in it and the material on those springs is pretty big in diameter and it does it no problem.
you should of warned of putting your head over the tool as very dangerous friend .clearly you was not gonna . i could see a noob not settin up correctly then wham gets a spring in the teeth. lmao
wrigs andco I’ve used it many times since making the video without any problems. I’ve also done springs that the material is much bigger in diameter without any problems.
Been hit myself. Very instructive. The spring got caught after I had the plate off and didn't come up as I released the machine's tension. So I took it out of machine and got whacked whenever it came unkonked. That was interesting. A one time mistake.
I like it.
1970chevelle396.. Nice demonstration of this awesome tool. I need one in my garage for sure. Just did struts on a Chevy truck the other day and had to use the old school style spring compressor.. Thanks for sharing it bro.
Thanks
