Giant Waves At Uluwatu

- Thumbnail is at 6:08. A very solid West swell brought all of Bali's big-wave chargers out of the woodwork, and down to Uluwatu for a memorable afternoon session.
Most of the action was at Outside Corner, and as the tide dropped out a decent amount of surfers headed out there to try their luck. Everyone put on a good show, and we were treated to some amazing rides, epic wipeouts, and broken boards galore.

Thats all we need in the line up with free paddlers is a ski and a loose foil (1:54)...I know exactly what happens when things go wrong...
Does it need a lower tide or something the waves seem alittle full after take off? Nice swell grouse vid mate.
Thanks. So I think the drone footage doesn't really do it justice to be honest. The tide was super low towards the end of the afternoon, but maybe the swell direction was a little off or something - not sure to be honest!

Hey kids, I spent a month on Bali and that drop is LEGIT. You won't hear much props given on a drop and section made but if you know how heavy this place really is that size... then, well........ya know.

@@global_zoo Yo, not only the wave, but if you've been anywhere in Indo when it's got size the CURRENT is fucking nuts kids. I'm an ex competitive surfer and was in the best shape of my life when I spent a month in Indo. All I can say is, "train kids, TRAIN" cause no matter how good a shape you are in, it won't matter. You gonna need ALL OF IT. That is if you ever hope to get into position to snag one of those beasts. Best barrels of course but the price is big too.

Ha haha, that's why I don't have any footage of myself. I claim what would be considered head dunks or at best a quick in and out so hard you can probably hear me in Indo....that and no one films where I am, best it stays that way.

Not sure why, but every time I see a video of "big uluwatu" or "big g-land", the waves are always amazing, but the surfing talent is always subpar. Maybe that because they don't want to blow up the secret spots? That's obviously where the rippers are on the bigger swells, because they are not in these videos. That kinda bums me out. It's cool to see how big these swells are, but I'd almost rather see em break empty, than to watch barrel dogding kooks just going down the line, and kicking out.
